Snapping back to reality as Rin waved her hand infornt of my face while calling my name. Stuttering up, I blinked and stared at her as we sat inside a coffee shop nearby where I live. Sitting back, she held a worried expression as she continued on with what she was saying.
"Xie... You need to be more careful where you go at school. Even if its a big campus, its still crazy to believe you were so close all this time when I headed your mother reported you missing to the police. " Stirring her cup of dark coffee with a straw, I tilted my head as I looked up at her from her cup.
"U-oh... Hmm. " Her worried expression only pressed away the fact that I almost nearly died.
Standing up, I quickly looked at her as she took off her checkered jacket and slid it around my shoulders.
"Hmm? Guess one size fits all... Scoot. " As I hesitantly scooted into the seat, she sat shoulder to shoulder with me as she slid her coffee cup to our side.
After stirring her cup for a bit, she set the straw aside and lifted the cup with nothing her hands. Blowing ever so softly, I gulped as my chest flittered for a split second.
Turning to me with a smile, she opened her eyes and looked straight as something was clearly on her mind.
"Hey... Xie. Do you think... I'm a bad person? " As she slid her slim fingers along the rim of the cup, I shook my head as I told her she was the best thing that's happened to me on my life.
Gazing at me in surprise, she lowered her gaze while turning her eyes away and asked if I really meant what I had just said. Before I cpuld respond to tell her, I noticed her body and legs quivering for some reason. I thought she was cold and in that moment, my initial reaction was to comfort her as I drew closer than before.
"X-Xie?! Wha-" Meeting my gaze as I faced down with my eyes closed. I didn't want her to see my blushing face as this was the first time I made the first move to bridge the gap as friends.
Feeling the warmth of her hand as she suddenly leaned to touch my face, my eyes opened as I met her radiant smile.
In an instant, a passing couple stumbled and pushed Rin into me. Finding ourselves in the middle of a kiss, we looked deep into each other's eyes in disbelief.
What took no longer than a few seconds, felt like an eternity. A blossom of pedals suddenly swept through us both as the cold wind from the opening door entered the room. The warm stares we gave eachother held no words and spoke volumes in what the other felt.
Time eventually began to move again and Rin turned around as she stuttered her hands on what to do. Then, abruptly, she stood up and hesitantly rushed out of the shop. I remained still as I touched my lips with my fingers while still caught up in the daze.
Paying for the service, I nodded at the grinning cashier as she must had seen what happened and simply turned around while headed home with starstruck face.
~
Even as I was a few minutes from. The coffee shop, I still felt my face brimming with heat. As I touched my face to clear my loose hair strands, I couldn't think straight as a speeding car passed me by near the intersection.
Getting a hold of myself for a moment, after crossing the street, I was right back in thinking about Rin. As dozens of arguments came speeding into my head, I couldn't stop thinking where our relationship was headed.
Just as I approched my house, I spotted an unlikely shine luminating on my shoes as I looked up.
"M-mia? " Standing straight from leaning on the gate, she touched her head and waved.
"Yo! " Sucking on a lollipop, I was so distracted by what happened with Ring that I spoke to her as I would with anyone else.
"What are you doing here? " Surprised, she chcukeld and shook her head while asking if we could talk inside. "Uh... Sure."
Heading past the gate, we walked up to the front door where I took out the key and headed inside.
~
Taking off my shoes without a care, I wandered into the kitchen and gripped the rim of the sink in my haze. Mia excused herself as she walked inside and stood infornt of me as I reclined on the counter with my gaze looking up.
"You seem sort of out of it... You alright? " Snapping back from my thoughts to the radiant colored Mia, I blinked and exhausted a sigh.
"Hm... Girlfirned troubles. " Snapping my gaze at hers as I remembered the shop, I felt myself blush as I turned around and poured myself a cup of water. "Wow... That bad?! "
Turning to meet her sweet colored gaze, I nodded while still chugging down the water from my mouth. Understanding, she took a seat with me and asked to start from the beginning.
~
"Hmm... So, you two shared a moment and since you've just recently become friends... You think this kiss has the potential to ruin the relationship you have so far..? " Thinking, I nodded intently as I leaned forward and awaited her response.
Exhausting a slight sigh, she smiled and held my shoulder as she raised her hand and told me to take responsibility.
"Huh?! " Laughing it off, I was serious as I smacked her shoulder while she calmed down and gave me some real advice.
"Okay... Its clear that you two like each other. Otherwise, you wouldn't have made it this far without ripping eachothers hair out. Listen, since I like you, I'll let you in on a little, technique, that will get you on the right track... Wanna hear it? "
Nodding, she leaned close and whispered close in my ear as her unique blend of scents made me susceptible to blind suggestion. Gasping as it was the most simple and yet, brilliant plan, I reached into my bag and took out my phone as I called Rin.
After hearing it ring twice, she finally picked up and I bursted.
"Rin! What happened at the coffee shop was not our fault! Don't worry! I'll take full responsibility and that way, we can really be together for the rest of our lives an-" Hanging up rather abruptly as a loud noise sounded just before the line cut off, I wanted to tell her I wanted to continue being her best friend.
As I turned around and saw Mia holding her hands over her moth as she was despteetly trying not to laugh, I looked at my phone and was flustered she lied. Chasing her around the house, I caught up to her infornt of the front door as we fell to the ground while the door opened and in came my mom.
"Oh... Two teenage girl are frisking eachothers bodies inside my home... " Looking at Mia and then sitting up after dropping her, I tried my best to set things straight until the unexpected happened to walk in behind mom.
"Amy? " Amy looked in embarrassment at me and Mia as she stuttered.
"W-what the hell are you doing to my sister?! " Touched by her worried expression, I eventually stood up with Mia as she introduced herself to my mom and Amy.
~
"So... You two are friends? " We all sat down at the dinner table while mom paced back and fourth as she prepared for dinner.
"Well... " Tilting my head, I turned to Mia and suddenly reilized what she was doing infront of my house in the first place.
"We met near an alley way, actually. " Holding my tounge as I didn't tell my mom or Amy about what nearly happened to me in the alley way. "Yeah! We became fast friends and here we are. "
Shaking with anger as she was using that incident against me, I had no choice but to play along.
"Wait... Xie. What happend with Rin? Aren't you going to invite her over? The next episode of, 'Thia's Anthem', is going ti start in a little while... Oh! Why don't you join us, Mia?! "
Taken back by Amy's sudden passion, Mia turned to me as I subtlety shook my head. With a false smile, Mia happily agreed as she knew it would make me more mad.
Turning as my mom called on me,
"Go into the pantry and bring back another bag of sugar, please. The boys must have hidden the ine in the counter somewhere. "
Getting up, I headed to the pantry outside in the shed and as I came back, Mia and Amy were laughing up a storm.
"No! And then, guess what she did?! " Amy was leaning ober the table as Mia waited for her response. "Xie took my moms thong after she thought it was a slingshot! "
Bursting out laughing, I shook with anger as I told Amy not to tell anyone that story. As Amy ran into the living room, Mia took hold of my arm and leaned in to whisper into my ear.
"Since you like slingshots and panties so much... I'll let you see mine if you want to play." Blushing intently, Mia responded as my mom asked for some help in helping with the vegetables.
I remained frozen as Mia's indecent behavior was unlike herself at all.
~
Heading into the bathroom and locking myself inside, I calmly caught my breath as I tried to make since of my crazy life. One moment, I'm on the border of life and death, and the next, I'm on a tightrope with Amy and Mia's inhuman personalities.
Shaking it all away after splashing my face with water, I dried it with a towel and opened the door. Looking up, Mia smiled and forced herself and me back inside.
Standing near the bathtub, Mia locked the door behind her as she held a soft smile. Tilting her head, I asled her to keep her hand stop herself.
"Oh... These hands? " Nodding, I circled around and ended up at the door. "Boo! "
Unlocking the door and headed into the living room, I sat right beside Amy as I held a pillow. Mia then came out as I looked away from her gaze. Then, she and my mom suddenly began chatting like old housewives.
The front door then ipne dandy in came the twins as they heads straight up to their room without noticing Mia.
~
Before long, the sunlight soon died down and along the way, I ended up isolated from the rest of my family as the only thing on my mind was steering clear of Mia. Even the latest episode seemed to mocking me as a perverted character spoke indecent banter towards the protagonist.
The slight smile among the many frowns, Mia's face raised major concerns as I could have sworn she was identifying with the pervert. Not long after the show ended, did Mia head home. Exhausting a sigh of relief as I headed to my room, I half-choked when my mom offered Mia to spend the night.
In that moment, both Mia and I froze as this was the last thing I needed right now. To be locked in a room with a frisky girl that wanted to show me her underwear.
"I think... Maybe some other time. " Shocked by what she said, Mia continued to turn down my mothers invitation.
Waving, Mia then opened the door and my eyes opened wide when I heared a familiar voice just outside as our eyes met.
"Xie... "
