The drive was not that "long" as mom would put it. I gasp as we drive through the big black gate of TSU. Mom said she wanted to see my school before going to my apartment, off-campus. The campus is more breathtaking than the images I saw on the internet and the school brochure, the walls are high and has odd beautiful blue paint. We weren't the only people who came on Sunday because everywhere were filled with parents kissing their children good-bye and students who came around. Mom and I had a tour around the campus before going to my apartment.
The house is painted white, the living room is not as big as ours back home. the outside is decorated with roses, few clothes are spreads on a rope outside the house!, someone is living here with me!, It's just two rooms, a living room, and a kitchen.
"Mom, I thought it was supposed to be mine alone".
"Of course it is, but... It's just you and one student or do you prefer you with lots of students? And besides this is the only house that has not been occupied around this area. And your dad and I wouldn't have you lived in a stranded area all by yourself. And this is the perfect conducive place for you to study, no noise or roommates disturbing you. you will have that room all to yourself. Just pretend as if the whole house is all yours okay?" Mom smiled trying to point out the reasons why they've chosen here. "And the house is beautiful, look at those wonderful flowers over there". she says pointing the roses.
"Yea, it is beautiful and isn't stranded, I've got neighbors too,'' I say looking around the surroundings.
"Yeah, I know you've got neighbors and that you are about to live all by yourself, be careful and report to us if you notice anything unusual, agreed? She asks and I nod in agreement." Baby have fun but don't overdo it, `` mom advice again. "Come-on, let's take your bags inside and I will get you a car next week, so you wouldn't have to be using the bus OK?". She beams her beautiful smile.
"Thanks, I love you," I tell her and hug her. "I'm going to miss you", I kiss her cheeks when we reached where she packed her car. We hugged again before she enters her car and drive off. I stood there waving until the car is out of sight.
I walk back inside, Unpacked my bags, neatly fold my clothes in the dresser, arranged my books on the small table beside the bed and spread my bedsheets on the large bed. Then I dialed Jenny's number.
