Out of moves 2

It's been 1 week. a week of anxiety for Lei. she hadn't got enough sleep last night. she pour all of her strenght and brain to remake the last chapter. even make it better. she ignored all of Jacob's calls and texts but left a message anyway.

'I promise i will give you your novel as soon as possible. just give me a week. sorry'

Jacob didn't bother anymore,though he didn't know what happened,he's more than sure Lei will surely do as she promised. she never failed him,except for this one.

Standing in front of a sturdy black gate,Lei took a deep breath and hit the doorbell.

'ding dong'

a few seconds,the gates were wide open and the guard smiled at her.

"you got a bit late this time eh?"

"got a little trouble"

"that explains the baggage under your eyes"

she fake a laugh and walk pass by him. when the gates closed,her face darkened mimicking the guard's remarks on her.

"i can tell you're not on a mood judging from your expression,easy li'l girl"

Jacob teased her as soon as she took a step in their living room. she remained silent. she threw the flashdrive she was holding since she left home at him without any notice. Startled,Jacob manage to catch it.

"at last!"

Jacob exclaimed and rush on his laptop on the coffee table. he inserted the hub and he easily found the file he needed.

"now this is rock,this is beautiful Lei!"

"beautiful work deserve beautiful pay does it"

Jacob brought out a piece of paper which seems to be a cheque. he handed it over Lei who is now grinning ear to ear.

"you seemed prepared this time"

"there' a lot of wasted time so i prepared everything"

he said with a hint of bitterness. his tone was blaming Lei.

"you disrespectful brat,there's a 3 year gap between us and you won't even address me in a respectful way"

"woah hold on,eversince we met it didn't became an issue to us. when did i ever call you on a mannerful way"

"exactly my point Jake"

Jacob could only laugh. he find her protest cute. he stop laughing when suddenly he reminded of something.

"by the way,i need to tell you something. this might upset you but--"

"what is it" she cut him off. Jacob took a several deep breath before telling her the news that might worry her. oh sure it will worry her.

"this might be my last time working with you"

Lei's brow furrowed. did she heard it right?

"what?"

"i don't think there will be another time working with you like this"

she wasn't wrong at what she had heard. her heart sank at the moment. she couldn't process a reply to his statement. she try to compose heself,open her mouth but didn't speak at all. because of the sudden rush of confusion on her,she closed her mouth.

"i know this is sudden. my mom warned me about buying files for me to pass on every writing contest i've joined. MMAC Academy doesn't tolerate such acts. there are a student long time ago who does the same thing as i do and he got kicked out immediately. not only he got expelled but he also had to pay a fine worth millions"

"but that won't happen since i sell my work MYSELF"

"He stole them"

"and you won't steal them co'z i got you. don't tell me you're running out of money to pay me?then we can talk it over"

"i know all of it Lei. but...if ever they find out about this,sure i won't get sued or be charged but my name will sink together with your name"

she raised her eyebrow and crossed her arm. she stood in front of him and say:

"and when did you care about your name Jacob Montgomery?from what i remember,you only want to win every competition by using me to get the chic of your dreams. after finding out about his ideal type you quickly drove off to my apartment to help you write your own stories but since you're not fond of literature you hired me as your ghost writer"

"i know,i know. but time passes by i learned to love it. it's been two years since you started working under me. in that two years i try to write on my own but i never show them to you nor let you know that it became my passion"

Lei's eyes were filled with shock,awe and proud. shock to have learn that the boy who used her to impressed a girl is now actually persuing writing,awe for he actually is persuing something and proud for at last,he finally grew up. Lei treated Jacob like a little brother ever since she move to the city. the first time they met was when she was lost in an area and got robbed. she was crying when Jacob saw her. he handed her money and coincidentally,they were schoolmates. that was 3 years ago. after a year,Jacob met Jiya,who happens to be Lei's classmate. he asked Lei to help him out with this girl and that's how they started working together. after finding out that Jiya likes a guy who writes extremely beautiful,he also learned about Lei's talent.

"you are...i can't find words Jake. did you mean you actually want to enter MMAC Academy for yourself not for Jiya?"

"we all know she likes my rival,Homer. he was always second place but i don't understand why she chose him. anyway,Im over it and i'm just happy for my self."

seeing Jacob's determination,Lei give up and heave a sigh.

"i guess this is goodbye"

jacob turn to her with confuse expression.

"are you,are you gonna leave me for good"

she was nearly laughing at jacob's teary eye.

"im talking about money idiot. when our transaction is over then i won't be receibung any cent from you!"

Laughter filled the living room. Lei was happy to finally learn that Jacob is gradually maturing. but at the back of her mind,she was actually worried. she's running out of options to earn money.
