A list poem.
Metal shavings
Blistered palms
Wood chips
Splintered handle with one too many uses
Numbed hands
Blunted maul, seeing harsh use over the years
Sound of the wedge when struck
Chapped lips
Subtle salty taste of sweat
Muscles tight
The seething feeling brought by lactic acid
Hard of breath
Dry tongue with a grainy texture
Skin damp of sweat
Skin tingling, burning UV rays
Refreshing cold liquid, splash against the skin
Feeling of decay washing away
Condensation, puddles formed
Smell of soap
Fresh ham sandwich
A salty sweet taste
Slowly passing time
Spinning fan
Light caress of the breeze
Closed eyes
Sleep
Morning sunshine
Squinted and almost closed eyes
Almost unbearable monotony
Begin again…
