Two

Seo Yeon was drunk out of her mind.

While the people in the room laughed and giggled and danced with their drunk minds, she laid soundly by the side of the sofa, her cheeks red from intoxication.

She was getting married. To her childhood friend Park Jong In, tall and dark haired with a pair of eyes that resembled amber in sunset light (words she read from a letter Jong In's fan club wrote to her after the news of their engagement went public).

Jong In was handsome and smart, always smiling and helping people. He was someone she could depend on, someone who could protect if she ever needed protection. He was always the righteous Jong In - always out to protect her and her friends. But he didn't love her. they were going to get married. Just like their parents.

She didn't want to get married.

"Here," Eun Ji smiled, handing her a glass of water.

"Thanks," Seo Yeon winced, taking the glass with great strength.

"You must be excited," Eun Ji forced her voice to sound happy. "You're gonna get married in a few weeks time. That too, to one of the most eligible bachelors in the country."

Seo Yeon simply hummed in reply.

"Hey Yeon-ah?" Eun Ji began timidly.

"How would you react...if Jong In sunbae liked someone else?"

"Hmm?"

"What if..." Eun Ji scooted closer to her drunk friend. "What if he fell for someone else?"

"Then he'd have to break off the engagement," Seo Yeon replied drowsily.

"And would that be okay with you?"

"He first has to convince our parents. And probably have a secret company in hand if he wants to break off our marriage."

"What?"

Seo Yeon leaned over to rest her arms on the table, gently stirring one of the many unfinished drinks with a straw.

"No matter who we dated, or in my case, who he dated, even if he falls in love for someone, he'll be bound by his family to marry me."

"W-what?" Eun Ji whispered, eyes widening.

"Our marriage was decided the moment our parents made the partnership. There's no way either of us can back out." Seo Yeon chuckled bitterly, remembering the words her mother threw at her the first time she asked of the possibility of breaking off the engagement.

"You and Jong In are bound by contract, if you break it off, both companies would go into a turmoil. After all we've done for you, is this how you want to repay us?!"

"Jong In and I..." she paused, "we're meant for each other." though she said those words with mockery, in Eun Ji's ears it was nothing less of a confession.

In her mind Kim Seo Yeon had finally confessed to the loving Jong In.

Eun Ji looked at the drunk woman with unconcealed jealously. The tears in her eyes almost threatened to fall.

What could she do now?

How could she have her happy ending without endangering a friend?

The only way she could live with the love of her life was if...was if Seo Yeon was taken out of the picture.

She looked at Seo Yeon's sleeping figure and bit her lips in contemplation.

Within a few minutes stook out her phone and dialed a number until someone answered.

"Plan a flight for two," she mumbled, loud enough for the person on the other end of the line to hear.

"Forgive me, Yeon-ah. But I can't let this happen."
