He's Gone

Seeing Grandpa Hoon's frown made Qiu Rei oddly satisfied. Growing up, he always wanted to make his father look at him with proudness in his eyes. Right now, all he could see in his father's eyes were disappointment and hopelessness. Qiu Rei looked at his father and brother proudly without a sense of shame.

As if he hadn't said enough, he carried on with the conversation, "Oh? Then we will see who lives longer. Ah, right. Don't worry. Even if you do die first, your company will be in great shape. I'll get someone pregnant and have the child take over the company."

After a few moments of silence, he continued,"Since we're on this topic, I might as well tell you how much I hate you for always siding with Ku Ze. What's so great about him? Hah, he was a pushover and put his family as his top priority. I only had to tell him to step down from being CEO because that's what he owed me for interfering with my life. My wife died and my world was over. I won't let him be happy!"

"You. All of you tried to break us apart. So what if Ying Ying used to be a spy? She loved me and was there for me whenever all my family members failed to support me. Where were you guys when I needed someone to talk to? You call yourself my father, but were you really doing a father's job correctly? I turned out the way I am today because of your negligence. So consider Yang Corps as compensation for all these years of bullshit."

Ku Ze interrupted Qiu Rei's self-centered complaint,"You've been repeating yourself since you got up to the stage. You say that we never cared about you and neglected you, but was it really like that? When we were young, everything we received were either equal by value or you got the extras. You say that nobody was there for you, but you've been spoiled since young. Whatever you wanted and wherever you wanted it, mother and father never said no to it."

Ku Ze supported Grandpa Hoon on the other side, "You never knew how much rice cost for people who struggle to provide food for their family. You've been asking our parents for money since forever. They tried to train and correct your attitude in life for your sake, but you treated that as negligence. They've been there whenever you needed them the most. I was there for you, but you saw me as a competitor. You pushed us away from you and stuffed yourself at a cold corner. This is nobody's fault, but yours. Reflect on yourself before calling yourself as the victim of your own life."

Grandpa Hoon coughed thrice and said in a self-blaming tone, "It's my fault for spoiling him. When you were five, I asked you what you wanted to do in the future. You answered, 'Why would I need to work? You're rich. You can buy me everything and give me your fortune.' Your mother and I thought that you would grow out of that mindset since you were young at that time."

He looked at Qiu Rei in despair, "By the time you turned 20, you hadn't had a job and spent almost a hundred thousand dollars per month. The items that you bought were all brand named products and most of them weren't even for yourself. You flirted with girls and paid them with these products. That's when I decided to cut your allowance and credit cards. I made you work as a regular employee in Yang Corporations to help you understand how hard it is for people to earn every penny that they spend.

He sighed and closed his eyes, "I didn't think that you would take it the wrong way and concluded that it is because I favored Ku Ze over you. If you had the capability and showed me your dedication, I would give you a chance too. I didn't make you work under Ku Ze because I wanted you to get competitive like this. I wanted to guide you so that you could give it a second thought on how much money you could've used on people who really needs it, rather than shopping for models or whoever you were seeing."

Qiu Rei let out a sinister laugh, "Do you really think that I will believe in your words? Your empty words? You're right. It is all your fault for bringing me up like this. You cut my allowance and credit cards out of nowhere. After that, you made me work as a lowly employee while Ku Ze was your assistant! He gets promoted to being CEO and I'm still stuck in the same place. The wage I get paid isn't even enough for a handbag. Did you know how humiliating that is for me? I was the laughing stock whenever I hung out wiht my friends! "

His mockery increased as he dragged on the subject, "Also, if it weren't for you two, I wouldn't meet Ying Ying. I wouldn't have known that there could be such an angel out there. She wasn't dirty like those curvy models who sold their bodies for magazine cover opportunities. She cared and loved me for me. She didn't care for brand products and even taught me how fun house chores could be. But what happened to her at the end? She was murdered! By you! Yang Ku Ze and your wife! Do you know how painful it is to close my eyes and see her drowning in blood with my dead child? She was pale and frail. I couldn't even get her murderer behind bars after her death! What kind of husband am I huh? I couldn't protect her and the only thing I could possibly have done is send Ku Ze to jail. I failed her."

Ku Ze rubbed his temples and said in a frustrating tone, "Let me repeat myself for the gazillionth time for lord's sake. Ying Ying's death had nothing to do with us! I told you clearly that it was your wife who called my wife in the morning. She was the one who invited my wife over for lunch because she thought that someone was trying to hurt her! I was with my wife because I was worried that it could be a trap."

He was tired of having to repeat this story whenever they met in the past, "When we arrived, your wife was already in a pool of blood and we immediately called for emergency assistance. Her death is not related to us. I have no idea why she pointed in our direction before she died, but get your facts straightened up before continuously accuse us of any crimes."

As his frustrations increased, his voice grew even louder, "Maybe you should start by asking yourself who would gain the most benefit if she and your child die. Start somewhere instead of randomly concluding shitty ideas based on your personal grudges and assumptions. Blaming everything on others won't make you a better man. As much as we sympathize you, you've been a handful of work to deal with. If you continue slandering our names, we won't hesitate to sue you. Understand?"

Before Qiu Rei could respond, the lights turned off. Huan Hei immediately turned on the flashlight feature on his phone and calmed the crowd. He noticed that something was wrong because the timing and scheduled dimmed lights were very off. Due to some delays, he had to change the sequence of events. Therefore, lights shouldn't be dimmed until at least an hour later. Not only that, even if the staff made a mistake, they wouldn't have turned off the lights.

Everyone turned on their flashlight feature and stayed where they were. Huan Hei made sure that Ya Nuo could handle the current situation with the guests and her family before leaving to look for the staff members.

After ten minutes, the lights turned back on, but Qiu Rei was gone.
