Because they’re all crazy

Steve

I opened the door. Missy stood there, a cap on her head, her face covered by huge sunglasses. She removed her sunnies when she saw me. She had been crying.

She was still crying.

I crossed my arms in front of my naked chest and stepped aside to let her in. I made sure to lock the door behind her.

"It's that bitch, Chastity," she had to force the words from her throat. She was crying so hard. Missy went straight to the kitchen and sat on one of the bar stools by the kitchen counter. "She left a dead cat on my front door this morning."

I grabbed a jacket I left on the couch from the other day and draped it over my shoulders before getting her a glass of water. She had taken off her cap and her blond curls were a mess around her face. I placed the glass of water and the kitchen paper towel roll in front of her. She pulled one paper towel off the roll and started to dab at her eyes.

"The cat could have just had an unfortunate heart attack on your doorstep, you know," I said, pushing her hair back from her face.

"Its legs were cut off," Missy started crying harder. "Don't make me remember what it looked like, I can't deal."

"I'm sorry," I said. I truly was. But I had a video shoot in two hours. I also had my own problems and more important people angry at me. "How can you be sure it's Chastity?"

She stopped crying to glare at me. "You know very well it's Chastity," she spat. I pulled off a paper towel and helped her wipe the drool from her chin.

"I look so ugly in front of you again," Missy wailed as I dabbed her chin.

"You're never ugly," I assured her.

That calmed her down for about a second before she got angry again. "You have to stop ..."

"I haven't touched Chastity in seven years, I swear!" I raised both hands in protest. Because of that, the jacket slipped off my shoulders.

"... sleeping with everyone that comes on to you because they're all crazy," she finished, though she didn't sound as angry when she started her sentence.

"Wow," I said, picking up the fallen jacket and shrugging back into it. "Are you saying people only sleep with me if they're crazy?"

She didn't reply to that. I realised she was staring at my chest. Then she glanced at my bedroom. The door was ajar.

She leaned towards me and whispered, "Did I come at a bad time?"

I chuckled. "No, Miss. There are currently no crazy people lying in my bed at the moment."

She breathed a sigh of relief and blew her nose. She rolled up the paper towel and chucked it into the bin a few feet away. She watched it miss completely and fall to the floor.

She looked at me again. "Maybe they only become crazy after sleeping with you because you don't love them back," she sniffed. "I mean, Kyle used to be normal."

"Does this make you feel better?" I raised an eyebrow at her.

She looked at me with her big eyes and said, "Yes."

I leaned into her and cupped her face, wiping the tears from her cheeks with my thumbs. "I'll talk to their manager but since we don't have proof that it was Chastity, I don't think they'll be able to do anything with her."

"I hate this," Missy looked really pitiful. She put her arms around me and pulled me into an embrace as she started to cry again. I held her for as long as she let me, letting her cry as much as she wanted.
