The Form

The next day...

Jake: Hahh.. Hahh.. Wait.. for.. me!

I stop running and turn around to face my teammates who are catching up, out of breath. It's our morning training and we're supposed to do some warm up exercises and take 3 rounds of the training ground but...

Ciara: C'mon, use those legs of yours!

Except for Marques and I, everyone else is unable to complete the task efficiently.

Kwan: How do you guys have so much stamina?!

Kwan complains, managing to reach us alive. Obviously I have a lot of stamina! I would go to my mom's dance studio everyday and practice dancing for the regional or national level competitions for hours! I look over to Marques who's standing beside me.

Ciara: Aren't you tired too?

Marques: I could say the same to you.

Ciara: Heh, I may have a lot energy since I'm a 'kid' but, you're an old man. How did you manage?

Marques:... Point delivered.

Ciara: Your welcome.

Marques: I didn't say 'thank you'.

Ciara: You don't need to, Uncle.

Marques:... What is with the Team J not being able to take right names?

He comments, fed up. Heh, this guy is kinda fun. The rest of the team catches up too.

Ciara: One more round to go! Then you guys can take a break!

Hanley: You're aware that we already have a trainer, right?

He motions towards the far side of the ground where Trainer Doris is supervising Team B and G.

Ciara: True, he doesn't cut any corners though, does he?

I've heard people whining about how he's very blunt in interacting with the trainees and giving them feedback.

Ryan: Damn, look at Intel not having to run around all sweaty!

Ryan looks at the pavement where Team Intel and Ace are walking towards their classrooms, green with envy.

Jake: I would kill to in to be in that Team.

Kwan: You need to have a lot of brains to be in there. Speaking of which, why aren't you a part of that team, Xia?

He's got a point there! Momo's so qualified, why should she be in the... the Jackass Team?!

Momo: I dunno...

That's all she has to say? Doesn't she feel wronged?

Doris: Hey, you over there!! Don't you dare slack off!! Run 2 extra rounds and do 100 push-ups as a punishment!!

Team J:..!! Yessir!

Trainer Doris yells at us noticing that we weren't doing our morning routine. We start running again.

Ryan: This is your fault! Why did you have start the 'small talk'?!

Hanley: I didn't!

Ryan: Then, did we just magically enter a useless conversation?!

I can hear the twins bickering behind me. Trainer Doris really is harsh; I feel like he's going to grill us this year!! God bless me!

A few days later...

I'm walking down the corridor when a fellow trainee comes up to me, a can of coffee and papers in hand. Wait, isn't that Instructor Foster's aide? Cody Smith, was it?

Cody: Are you Ciara Sue?

Ciara: Why, yes I am.

Cody: Instructor Foster asked me to give this to you; there was something wrong with your application form so you need to sign it again.

He hands me the form. Something wrong with it?

Ciara: I see.

I place the form on the window sill and flip through the instructions. Hold up, 'no alcohol allowed in the campus building'? That's obvious. I quickly go over all the information in it and am just about to put my signature on it when..

*Clang!*

Ciara:..! Eep!

Cody: I'm so sorry!

The can of coffee slips from his hands, splashing it's contents on the papers. Uh oh, they're all stained! I lift their dry corners with my fingers and hang them over outside the window and the coffee drips down from it.

Ciara: What're we going to do now?

Cody: I'll get you a new form right away!

Ciara: Okay, but be quick, my class starts soon.

He nods and sprints to the Instructors' cabin. He's a clumsy one, ain't he? After a short while, he comes back, a fresh, new form in hand.

Cody: Here.

Ciara: Thanks.

I quickly sign it and give it back to him. He takes from me and leaves and I too, resume my way to the classroom, unaware of the fact that what just happened was no accident...
