Evangeline And Jack Meet Some Interesting People

Evangeline A.K. McDowell's POV:

Eva had only been around a couple of males in the past couple of hours and she already knew that she hated them. Everywhere she walked, she could feel the eyes of others roaming over her body as if she were some sort of entertainment or some wet dream.

Even the guard whom she was walking with was gawking at her beauty and attempting to hit on her. However, even if she didnt have any memories of herself or anything else, she could still tell the difference between a good person and a rotten one.

The person who had been leading the group, Jack Freston was the perfect example of how men should've been. Brave when faced with danger, reliable in a pinch, trying his best even when he was afraid. Most of all though, he was the only man who hadn't gazed at her in a way that seemed like he was undressing her with his eyes.

Evangeline sighed to herself as she was lead through a couple of alleyways and down a deserted street. She had been told that she was going to slums, but was kept separate from both Bella and the captain, probably to keep them from meeting up later.

She wasn't too worried about it though, as she was memorizing the way back to the park as they walked. She remembered the words Jack had spoken and knew that she could easily meet the others again if she arrived at the park during the night. If Jack had said it, then she was entirely convinced he would do it, he was the one who had saved her after all.

"Hey, did you hear what I said?" The guard asked, snapping her back into reality. "I asked you if your free Friday night.....we can go on a date, maybe take a carriage ride through the nice part of the city."

"No thanks," Eva replied without even hesitating. " I already have a boyfriend." She turned her head away from him. She had just told a totally white lie but it was the only way to shut this conversation down quickly.

"To who? That little brat who had called himself the leader of you guys?" The guard asked as he took another right. "Please, if Sir Gladisor hadn't held back his strength, that moron would've been literally five feet under. You can do so much better then that, what you need is a real man."

"That was a real man," Eva said as she walked behind the guard, her eyes still avoiding that of the guards'. "I take it you didnt see when he stood up and grabbed your captains arm?"

The guard made a left, tapping hos chin with his finger. "Okay I guess I'll give you that one as he did look pretty cool with all that blood running down his body." He stopped by a rather old looking building. "However, my offer still stands, just meet me by the park of you ever want to hook up."

"Noted," Eva said with an emotionless nod. "Where are we? Why did you stop? Weren't you taking me to the place your own captain called the slums?"

"Well I felt pretty bad that he trested you guys like that so I brought you to the nicest part of the slums," The guard replied, rapping his knuckles against the thick wooden door. "Also, the captain had talked about **** before.....I wouldn't worry too much about it as he just says stuff when people piss him off. He's never ONCE done something like that to a woman, though he will abuse you, theres no doubt about that one."

Eva nodded as the front door opened and a young girl around the same age as Jack, poked his head out. "Yo, you've reached the Catchin residence, its yo girl Haminu Catchin here, what can I do you for?"

"Hey Haminu," the guard said, clearly familiar with the young girl. "According to the law, all refugees must be taken into homes and you've been chosen as one of the lucky few to house one."

Haminu looked back and forth between the guard and Eva, processing the information before letting out a small sigh followed by a warm smile. "Your lucky I likd you Uncle Fresul otherwise I'd be throwing a fit right now."

"Yeah yeah," The guard said with a small roll of his eyes, "Just make sure to take good care of her as her boyfriend is a terrifying fellow who even managed to make Sir Gladisor wince in pain."

"Ha," Haminu gave a short laugh and rolled her own eyes. "Galdisor is one of the strongest Warriors in this city, I doubt even a mere level 10 could make him wince unless they caught him by surprise. However, I will take in the woman, and she can tell me all about him."

"I really don't know much about him, I only met him a few hours ago," Eva admitted as she walked up to the young female. "I just know that hes probably the bravest one among the hundreds of people in the refugees."

"Oh, then your a quick person to fall in love I see," Haminu said as she lead the woman inside. She stopped and poked her head out the door. "Okay, I can take it from here Uncle Fresul, you can go."

The guard nodded his head, turned around, and went back the way his came, the door slamming shut.

"I'm not in love with the guy, I just think he's what a man SHOULD be like," Eva explained as she was lead inside. "There are literally no romantic feelings involved."

"Rigggghhht," Haminu said sarcastically as she lead Eva into the living room. "And I'm a young girl who hasn't fallen in love with her best friend." She stopped in front a couch and gestured for her to sit.

"Wait your in love with your best friend?" Asked Eva as she sat down on the couch. "Have you at least told him that you do?"

"Naw, he's too dense," Haminu replied as she dropped onto the seat next to Eva. "He probably wouldn't even notice if I told it to his face."

"Well, what's his name," Eva inquired as she relaxed against the couch. "You can at least tell me that much."

"Oh," Haminu said with a smile. "His name is..."

Jack Freston's POV:

Jack opened his eyes for the second time, once again taking in the bedroom that he was currently in. Nothing had changed much....except for the fact that there was now sitting on the mattress playing with something in his hands.

Jack immediately tried to sit up, and found that his body didn't hurt anymore, the pain had simply vanished, allowing him to sit up with ease.

"Oh good, your finally awake," The boy on the mattress said, putting down the really sharp copper knife he had in his hands. "I guess that level one recovery medicant works better then I thought."

"Ummm, who the hell are you?" Jack asked, pushing himself up into a standing position. "If your trying to mug me, your not gonna have much luck, I dont have anything."

The boy laughed shaking his head. "Dumbass, I'm the one who saved you and even healed your wounds. What would I have to gain from mugging you? Your probably broke as hell, being a refugee and all."

The boy stood up, picking up his knife and twriling it between his fingers. "As for who I am, that's an easy question!!"

"My names King, King Tatsumi!! Its a pleasure to meet you!!"

////For those who dont know Haminu Catchin and King Tatsumi....you obviously haven't read my novel "The Last One Standing"
