Don't think it's useful

Chapter 1The end of my path is the beginning of my road.

"Kyle do you see what I'm seeing?"

"Yeah, Sean. It's not something that I wanted to see in my life, they are com…"

Kyle didn't have the time to finish his sentence, holding his long tear shaped shield with power, he stopped 3 humanoid with rosy and purple skin.

BAM!

Following the sound of impact, the sound of the flesh being cut with force and the scream of agony of the Humanoid could be heard; but not only. The sound of his comrades falling was being heard too.

Kyle was a soldier, a shield in the left hand, a sword on his belt, a dagger his left breast and a spear on his right hand, his tanned skin mostly hidden by the chainmail he was wearing like his mouth was hidden by a mask and his head was by the black hood he wore.

Like the others soldiers, he was send to protect the last human city, Avalon. The invaders start their attack twelve years ago, years 2024, "the Doors" was opened connecting his world to "the Chain" Six other world with different species and to what they said, much more powerful energy, letting them able to evolve. The same energy called mana by the fantasist lover, the one that the mage use to cast powerful, and not, magic. This same energy that was near no existent in his world, this energy that had refined the bones of all the violets humanoids, the race known as Bersekus.

The Bersekus live in the world called Nether, and would lovely take the human world, world much more beautiful and with a lot more of resources, by their force. Luck or not the humanity is the weakest of all races, surely because of the lack of knowledge about mana.

Only twelve years was needed to let a population of 7 billion pass to 870 million, and one more month to take them to the death gate were Kyle was now, fighting.

He was just a regular soldier with a good amount of experience and a particular instinct about mana that let him do thing other can't. But a lot of hardship was added to take him where he was, his face was covered by scar, like his body.

A regular soldier in the last army humanity has.

Different to him was the Hope team.

At the front of the battlefield, the hope of humanity was fighting, they were Warrior, Mage, Warlock and Guardian. 23 Human with outstanding capabilities, they had strange body that let them able to absorb mana quickly and doesn't need willpower for using it. Or maybe they just, like Kyle, found how to be with the mana at earlier time, maybe they had a starting point higher, but it was irrelevant, what was important was that the humanity will not fall today, but the direction this battle had taken was not one of victory.

While Kyle continued to hack enemies in pieces, passing to one to another acrobatically, he kept an eye on the Hope Team, using his shield to block and split enemy apart, his spear to keep the other one in respect, he didn't stop. The Bersekus were winning, just the way they used to.

The way they used mana was sufficient to let them win, so with their body refined by it, the allies troop where being crushed, only some who has tactic was able to hold their life and fight with all their will.

Quickly looking around, our protagonist see something he didn't want to , but he was being used to this view, the view of comrades falling, Sean was just being hacked down by one of the Bersekus soldier, a lieutenant. He see one of the Hope team fall, it was the first one and only to have killed one of the stronger Bersekus, the korean black knives wielder Sol Ji-Hu.

'Continue to fight, even if you are the only human left in earth, continue to fight!'

Though Kyle while slashing another violet invader. While seeing this battlefield and all the people here falling another thought sprouted in his mind.

'Why not absorbing the mana of the fallen one? '

Kyle start doing it easily, doing something he has never heard of, absorbing the mana of the fallen. People were dying everywhere, the mana where evacuated to their body, and even if it was not pure it was easier to absorb this one than the one on Earth. Sucking the dead dry of their mana, his stamina was powered straight to the maximum anew.

'If only I knew I could do that before, if only I was more curious about mana. Surely i would have became stronger, and maybe, humanity would not have failed.'

Thinking this Kyle was saddened, bit kept his focus on the fight. Strangely some memories of his younger age came at this moment, memories of when the world was calm, the money was the overwhelming power at this age, something he never truly have, something he already didn't care. Living in the middle of France, he was a lazy young man, working to have money, spending the money to eat and sleep, doing some research on legend, passing his time slowly, with few company.

Then a scream, coming from the Bersekus army, looking at the direction of the sound, he see one of the Bersekus Warriors being killed following by the death of two humans, a Warlock and a Guardian .

But something unexpected happen, the mana from the grand Bersekus Warrior, the Human Warlock and the Guardian were being absorbed through his pore, the quantity was more than what he can take, letting every part of his body, every cells, screaming. They were being expended too quickly. He didn't need time to understand that he need to unleash the extra mana or he would die. He forgot that the body has to adapt to the mana before absorbing much more.

Without waiting, he used the mana, propelling himself through the battlefield. Direction, the lieutenant, 1 second 50 meter, arriving at the lieutenant Kyle stomped on the lieutenant's foot, crushing it in the process, then holding his spear, he pierced the Bersekus lieutenant belly with all his power, unleashing the mana in him to flow through the spear.

Bang!

The flow of mana was unstoppable, tearing the violet lieutenant followed by the purple and human soldier flying around by the aftermath.

'It wasn't sufficient, I still have half of it.'

Aiming the Hope Team to help them, he let the mana flow to his feet and with a light step, he was propelled to the Hope Team ground piercing his way through the army, killing Bersekus soldier with the piercing power of his mana charged spear.

Aiming for a new enemy, a Bersekus Guardian, he attacked without restraint, the aim was perfect. But then reality come back quickly, the spear didn't pierce the warrior, only the little part of mana creating a little wound on the armor, the spear broke, the Guardian, a Colonel, was surprised but didn't wait he answered the man that just wounded him by a powerful downward slash.

'Shit, weapon is really not for me'

Think Kyle a little sorrowful to see the weakness of his weapon.

He answered the response of the Colonel, by a mana infused step, backward, dodging the attack of few, but the aftereffect force of the attack projected him in a situation, which couldn't have been worse.

He landed between two spell confronting each other, one was of gravity, the other of void, the two magic clashed, enveloping Kyle in the combination of two powerful magic, letting his vision slumber and his thought wander.
