Chapter 2

"Oh Mr. Chu, what brought you here?" asked Mr. Sandoval, our teacher in English, while fixing his eyeglass.

Rene didn't answer and just handed him a piece of paper. Mr. Sandoval took it and start to read it.

"Oh! What a pleasant surprise! You're in this block? Nice nice, you may sit at.." he said and looked for a vacant seat. " Ahh, well you can sit beside Ms. Tan since we have no other choice, if that's okay with you?"

What's with this teacher? Did he mean that it's not okay to sit with me? I rolled my eyes heavenwards. Maybe he's jealous. Tsk! Tsk!

I glance at Gab and Pretzl who was grinning like crazy at me. Pretzl closes her fist and so as Gab and they both mouthed "Fighting!"

Rene just nodded and went towards me, well, beside me literally. I pretend not to care but deep inside I'm screaming. My heart can't stop beating faster and I just wanna die right at this moment. My long time crush is sitting right beside me and I don't know what I should do.

Mr. Sandoval went back to discussing so I tried my best to stay calm. I take a breath in and as I was about to exhale.. what's this? Why can't I exhale? Did I forgot how to exhale?

"You okay?" My eyes went wide when I heard Rene talked to me. I just nodded without looking at him and luckily I was able to exhale. Thanks God!

"Tsk" he hissed softly.

I didn't mind him and focused on our discussion without looking at him that I didn't notice it was already time.

I hurriedly pack my things and like a flash, I went outside with Pretzl and Gab behind me.

I sat at the bench in the oval feeling frustrated. I face my friends and asked "Yah, did I just made myself weird in the eyes of Rene?"

They were about to answer when Alecjia and Joanne arrived looking concern.

"Hey, you okay?" Alec asked worriedly.

I shook harshly. "Rene and us were block-mates" I said not in my full self.

"That is the news I was about to tell you guys but that fucking bell just rung that is why I didn't got the chance to inform you" Joanne explained and I just smiled at her telling her that it's not her fault.

"Hahahahahaha you guys! You should have seen Akima's face! It was priceless!" Gab laughingly exclaimed.

If looks could kill, he's probably dead right now. "Are we really friends?" I asked and hit him lightly.

"Hahaha what happened?"

Since Gab can't stop laughing, Pretzl was the one who told them the whole story.

"My friends, should I just drop out? Should I stop this semester?" I said feeling indisposed.

They started laughing and Joanne said "I think you should haha"

The bell rings and we stood up and began to walk. As we arrived in our next classroom, Joanne and Alec smiled at me.

"Wish me luck" I said and we went inside the classroom. My eyes spotted Rene sitting next to the window. When his eyes met mine I suddenly grab Gab's and Pretzl's hands and we sat in front.

Oh God, will I able to make it in a year without embarrassing myself?
