Fins

Shark fins are seen as a valuable commodity, often used just to make soup. These fins however provide no nutritional value whatsoever and are basically purely aesthetic.

Sharks are caught on mass, their fins cut off, and then the sharks are released again. It shouldn't be hard to guess what would happen to a shark that is thrown back into the water without fins.
