In a summer morning in the year 2020, was when it all started, the terror, later known as "The Darkness", few believed that this really would happen, for many were conspiracy theory, but when it really came, it took everyone from the most fanatical to the most discredited, but no matter how much people prepared, it wasn't enough for the terror that was to come.
Matthew Parker was a sophomore at Texas Tech College, twenty-two years old. Instead of the typical geek, smart and fat guy, Matthew always liked to play sports; from the most common to extreme sports, especially gym. It was his favorite sport that he discovered during his high school. Thanks to that, Matthew was strong and popular with the girls of his college, besides his natural beauty that was unusual among people; he had short blond hair, military style and light blue eyes.
Matthew had just woken up and was getting dressed for a morning run to keep himself in shape. He had planned to play some RPG games when he returned to his dorm later. RPG was his favorite game style, which charmed him and was his main reason for choosing Texas Tech from among so many college options that could earn even more money after graduation.
However, when he had just dressed and was warming up to run, suddenly the sun lost its brightness.
Matthew was terrified. In a moment, the sun was there and in a second, it "disappeared".
Matthew soon picked up his cell phone to call his parents, but he noticed that his cell phone was out of range. It seemed that whatever happened, it affected not only the brightness of the sun, but also affected all types of waves.
But of course he did not know this.
He immediately ran back to the dorm and went into his room, turned on the television to know what was happening and realized that the television was not working either. He waited for long minutes in despair and fear, until the sun shone again as if nothing had happened.
This time, Matthew tried to call his mother, to find out how she and his father were, still desperate for what happened. It took some time before he could type in her number, but after calming down, he was able to call her.
"Mother, how are you?"
"I'm fine, my son, how about you? The sun just disappeared. Can you come home? We're afraid here."
"Mother, you don't need to be afraid. Scientists will find out what has happened and will definitely clarify this as quickly as possible. Something of such magnitude should already be being searched right now."
"Okay, my son, but ..."
Matthew started to panic when the call with his mother got disconnected and tried to call her again but failed. His heart started beating fast when he got nervous.
Suddenly the sun stopped shining again, but this time it was when it all began.
The terror, which in future would be known as "The Darkness".
* Ding *
"Activating system for all humans. God weary of his pathetic existence, who does not use free will and intelligence for nothing. Those lucky ones will die at first. The unlucky ones... good luck, hahaha."
Matthew heard a voice in his head and soon after messages started appearing in his vision, he felt extremely frightened and fell on the bed.
"What the hell is going on? Did I go crazy?" He asked to no one, terrified with the sudden messages that appeared out of nowhere in his mind.
* Ding *
"No, the user has not gone crazy. Only extremely unlucky and will have to experience the terror that is to come."
Matthew then started to panic when he started to hear something in his head, but forced himself to calm down. He knew that panicking would not help at all and decided to ask whatever was in his mind.
"Who are you and how can you talk to me?"
* Ding *
"The user is not allowed to access this information yet, you need to get into higher classification to access this information."
Matthew then forced himself to calm down and sat on the bed as he started to think about what was going on.
"This looks like my favorite game style; RPG, I hope it's not an RPG, because it has extremely dangerous things in these games and usually your character always dies somewhere." So Matthewasked the system:
"How can I improve and what are the ratings?"
* Ding *
"Ratings are to identify if you are an ant, as is the case now, or is a bigger ant, as it may be in the future. If you do not die of course, to improve you just evolve."
"Classifications are divided from lowest to highest in F, E, D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS."
Matthew sighed and asked the system again.
"How do I evolve?"
* Ding *
"Killing monsters and absorbing their genetic mass, or how easy it would be for you humans, absorbing EXP and gaining levels, to complete evolution."
Matthew thought again, "For sure it looked like an RPG, though it is an RPG in real life and I can very much likely lose my life for real! What's more... monsters?"
Matthew decided to ask anyway.
"Monsters? What monsters?"
At this moment, the sun suddenly re-appeared and Matthew heard a scream that made his heart almost came out through her throat. It seemed that the person was experiencing extreme pain:
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh."
