A long time ago, in the 5th Age of mankind, a man named Paxos was wandering through Gielinor. On a dark and gloomy day, the man found himself walking through the region of Morytania.
This region had a multitude of incredible legends, the castle of Dr. Fenkenstrain, the graves of the ancient heroes known as the Barrows Brothers, haunted swamps and muchmore. But this man was only interested in one special legend.
A village whose entire population was made up of ghosts.
He had heard the village was at the far eastern side of Morytania, past the Haunted Woods on the northern side.
To maintain his strength Paxos decided it would be the best choice to bypass the Haunted Woods by going around, staying close to the ocean's shore on the northern side of Morytania.
As he closed in on the village, he saw a strange man standing on a small dock next to a rowing boat. He could see the strange man staring at him and, out of curiosity, decided to talk to him.
"Hello there," he said to the strange man, who seemed to be staring mostly at his full rune armour and warhammer.
"Mornin'. Hey, you're an adventurer right?" he asked, looking slightly awkward.
"Yes, I am. Why? Do you have any quests for me?" Paxos asked. The strange man on the dock was instantly smiling upon hearing that.
"Yeah I do, as a matter of fact," he began "I am a poor, dispossessed nobleman, forced by circumstances to lurk in the middle of nowhere, soliciting help from passers-by. You see, my fiendish half-brother has seized my estates and forced me into exile. The simple lemon farmers suffer under his tyrannous yoke, and only a brave adventurer can lift his iron boot from the neck of the poor."
The strange man's eyes started to slightly tear up as he was telling his story. After quickly wiping away the wetness he continued: "To reclaim my lands I will need to have my family sword returned to me so that I may present it as proof of my rulership. Will you help me find my family sword?"
The traveling Paxos looked at the strange man with pity in his eyes. "To have your own brother do such a thing to you must feel horrible," he thought before nodding his head, agreeing to help the strange man find his family sword.
"When do we set off?" he asked.
The strange man's face quickly turned into an enormous smile as he nearly danced with joy.
"You'll help! Wonderful! But alas, my half brother has a powerful ally, the mighty demon... err… Barrelor!" he quickly replied. "Yes, the mighty, fearsome, tall, deadly, oaken, round demon Barrelor the Destroyer."
"Barrelor?" Paxos asked. He had heard many tales of dragons and demons in his travels, but never had he heard of a demon named Barrelor.
"Yes, that's what I said. Barrelor is an awesome opponent, and to reclaim my family sword you will have to defeat him, for he guards it with the deadly Trapped Pit of Barrelor. Wanna give it a shot?" the man responded, his eyes darting around quickly when mentioning the Trapped Pit.
"Of Course, I fear no demon!" the brave adventurer Paxos responded bravely. He had fought a couple demons before and thus he didn't even show the slightest bit of fear on his face.
"Atta laddy. When I am reinstated to my rightful place, I will not be a wealthy man, as my half-brother has squandered my family treasure. However, I will gladly give you every bent penny of what is left, and starve in the gutter with my many, many adorable children, if you say you will help me," the strange man stated.
After traveling so much, Paxos had helped many people before. Hearing this strange man offering everything he had left, Paxos quickly retorted: "Nonsense! Keep the money! I will dispose of this evil half-brother of yours and leave you with what little money is left to feed your family."
Another bright smile appeared on the strange man's face: "Wonderful! Just pick up your diversion and we'll leave!" he responded, pointing somewhere behind the adventurer. This made Paxos frown as he couldn't follow what the strange man was saying anymore, asking: "What diversion?" while turning around to look at what the strange man was pointing.
However, as he turned around, he could see absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. Just as he was about to turn around again to look at the strange man, he felt something heavy slam him on the back of his head before his vision went black.
***********
"Arrrrr, 'tis lookin' bleak." A voice sounded from a small room on the first floor of a large building standing all alone on a small island as a strange man walked in the door.
"Cap'n! Good news Cap'n! I have found us a hero down by the docks!" the strange man said. If the adventurer could see him he would immediately recognise him as the same strange man who had knocked him unconscious before.
The captain looked up from the window in surprise: "Be they heroic, brace and true?" he quickly asked.
The strange man chuckled slightly before responding,: "Aye, they also be gullible, tied up and unconscious. They were willing to help out some random stranger with a good enough sob story, so I smacked them with a bottle and rowed them over."
"Brilliant, the island's location will remain a secret! Bring 'em here and wake 'em up," the captain commanded, before turning back towards the window and mumbling to himself "We may make it through this yet…"
