I have a child?

It has been several days since I gave birth and I haven't adapted yet. I was still getting over the fact that I.GAVE.BIRTH! I haven't even had sex yet! (though technically ' she' did).

I had never had time to focus on men or even romance, it was either kill today, kill some more and then train, which also involved killing. Yet that didn't stop me from cuddling under the sheets when I was free with a good romance novel.

After I recovered enough, the midwives gave me the baby to hold. She was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Her eyes were closed and her cheeks were a faint pink. She looked like a little bean bun. And it was so her nickname was formed. For her actual name, I decided to name her Shu Xiao Mei. Pure, beautiful and little, a perfect fit!

In her heart, she was conflicted. The owner of the body was raped and thrown out of her father's house. But she still decided to keep the child even though the child would be fatherless which is looked down upon in her kingdom. Which was why she fled to a small village at the border and ultimately died during childbirth, never seeing her child's face. But, in the end, I pushed out the child and birthed her so I considered myself her mother.

The previous owner, Shu Xiu Lan, after being disowned had to take care of herself but she knew nothing because she grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth. To make a living, she asked some of the kind-hearted mamas in the village to teach her some basic skills. She learned sewing, farming, cleaning, and some little medicals skills from the village physician who took pity on her pregnant self. He was also the one to periodically check on her and her baby's health.

Surprisingly enough, she was skilled in sewing and medical work. She learned everything quickly and the mamas and the physician praised her for her monstrous learning ability. The physician had then taken her as his only disciple because he was getting old in age and wanted a successor.

Shaking out of her memories, Shu Xiu lan walked holding her baby in her arms wondering about how to earn enough money for them both. Fortunately, she inherited 'Shu Xiu Lans' ability and she also had abilities of her own. She considered becoming an assassin because its pay was better than both the sewing job and physician job combined but looking at the little bun she decided to put it off until the baby grew up a little more.

The days passed peacefully, Shu Xiu Lan adapted to her life and her newfound motherly instincts. She was very protective of her young bean and since she neither had money to hire a help nor did she trust them, she strapped her baby with a piece of cloth and tied her to her back. Little bun slept most of the time and didn't cry much which was a relief. When sewing, the little bun was there, when farming little bun was also there but when she was helping treat patients with Mr. Cong Fang, her Master, He had forbidden the baby from coming into the room because she was still young and susceptible to diseases and bacteria in the air.

Shu Xiu Lan understood this point, she would never want her baby to come into harm, especially if it was her own mistake. So she took out the little money that was left which her ' father' gave her and reluctantly hired a mama to help look after the baby. Though her heart broke looking at the measly 10 silvers and 20 coppers left in her purse.

-----------------------------------

Its been 6 months and 14 days when Xiu Lan got the biggest shock of her life. She was sitting in their 1 room wooden shack which she built herself with the help of a handyman she hired, sewing a dress for a young woman when suddenly little bun said, " Mama ". she was stunned and happy.

After months of coaching her to say that word, she finally did it.

However, that was not all!

She then proceeded to get on her two chunky feet and walked towards me unsteadily. This time I screamed in joy.

" GENIUS! MY XIAO MEI IS A GENIUS!!" This was unbelievable. She was only 7 and a half months old! After calming down, Xiu Lan picked her little bean bun up and said: " Mamas is very proud of you".

The little bun giggled then repeated " Mama" a few more times making Xiu Lan's face almost crack open from smiling so much.
