Siege at Akkee sect (8)

David arrived at the granary with ease, a dozen of guard surrounding the granary were nothing for him anyway. After he finished taking care of the guards outside, he then proceeded with two guards inside who was resting on the chair using the same trick.

Before he went inside the granary David went to the main kitchen closeby to get some ingredients first.

David completely let down by what he saw, the granary was almost emptied, The calculation by his officer was missed by a large margin.

It was good for his side but this was too good to be true. The man in charge would be sent straight to the gallows if it was his military officer who prepared the provision.

"Too easy. Is it a trap? Do they use other types of food instead of grains?" David thought. He looked around the granary and asked Iris if there any guards on the basement of the granary which she answered none.

David went down to the basement, he thought that the Akkee sect could use something like cheese. From their physical Akkee sect belonged to the Chinese but the long time of living in Noseth, their culture would not be the same it was possible that their selection of food for provision changed from what their ancestor ate.

It went against his expectation, there was none left in the basement either. There was a shelf of cheese but the number was too low to last 3000 people for more than a month.

"Well, it not that matter anyway."

Since David planned to destroy all of it, a lot was not much problem, but less was a bit confusing.

Was there another place?

Was it a trap?

"Iris, in case this is a trap, you will take full control immediately."

"Affirmative"

David did not believe that this was a trap but he confused over this situation. All information he received was all stated that this was the only granary on the Akkee sect. The other building was able to store a grain but to preserve it they need a place built especially for stored grains.

Did Akkee sect plan to use livestock as a food source? But in the mountain without much space to spare, livestock was not that much effective as provisions. It was not like a vast steppe where grasses were everywhere for the livestock to feed on.

"Iris, can you help me with this situation? What is the meaning of this? Is it our spy doing but even they could not accomplish this much in such a short time."

"There were many ways to reduce the provision in a blink of an eye, but from the information and the surrounding, the most likely cause was either the relocation of provision and the corruption by those in charge."

David could be careless sometime but with his cheat, there was no one who dared to corruption under his nose because those officer in the center knew of David's sharp eyes. Corruption rarely happened in his government, that's why he ruled out corruption due to his habit.

However, his empire was too big and perhaps one day the new officer may fallen to the temptation, perhaps.

After he pondered a bit, David stopped thinking too much and continue to commit arson with cooking oil.

"Is this enough?" Asked David.

"This would take less than an hour. Please beware that if some person comes, see the corpses, and look inside. Your objective will fail if the other knew of this trick. There was a chance for them to check inside but they are most likely not the water magician and the ignite should be possible."

What David was doing was to set a fire using cooking oil. The vegetable oil could be ignited in 3 steps like other liquid, flash point, flame point, and autoignition.

David poured oil into the pot then closed the lid with something on top to keep the lid from falling due to pressure, he brought both of these from Akkee sect the main kitchen. He set the pot on the fire, asking iris for the calculation and left. There was no magic involved, even if 10 archwizards using detection they would not feel anything.

"Such a good feeling to finish a job very quickly and perfectly."

"So you have fun by committing arson, such a bad hobby."

"… Let's check at that building before we left."

David went back to check the two guards, the two guards were of a different caliber than other guards. They stood firm with a sharp posture no sign of fatigue and lax, they were full armor covered all the important parts of their body preventing David from silently killed them with throwing knives. Also, the thing they wore as armor was made of metal, probably an iron which was very rare in Noseth but possible considering that this is Akkee sect famed for their fire magic.

To kill them with a projectile weapon he needed more than throwing knives, it was possible for someone like him but if he used to much power their bodies would fall by the impact and making a loud noise.

He knew by looking at them that they were not only fully equipped but also tough opponents, he would easily win but he did think that it will be soundless.

"Iris, any suggestion."

"Yes. Do you remember the window we saw at the top?"

"…..I do."

David went to the back and looked at the window 4 meters above his head. The window was not a big one with a place for an adult to get in, it was obstructed with a grille which probably an iron.

The wall was flat with nothing to grab but it was nothing for him, he jumped and grabbed at the grille, then slowly stretched the grille until it was possible to get inside.

David slowly descended from the top and what he found was a lot of metal boxes lying on both side, there must be over one ton of the same thing by his rough calculation. Also, the lingering smells remind him of something but he forgot what it was.

David opened the box and shock from what he saw, he suddenly jumped back to the way he got in to escape. If it was the same thing in every box, even him could seriously injure or in the worst case dying without a corpse.

"Iris! Are there enemies nearby? Is this a trap?"

What's inside the box?

You can put your guess in the comment.
