The Summer of His Life Begins

A few months later...

"Babe, what did you get on your exams? Did you pass?"

"You aced them, right?"

"Yes, thanks to your help in the maintenance of a blade and order of knights exams," She hugged him, "Tell me, what did you get?"

"An 89 overall," She hugged him tightly, "Geez, you are crushing me."

"You passed easily, you worked really hard this year, good job."

"You and Mr. Grim really helped."

"Me? You were teaching me."

"Whatever, you clearly don't get it."

"Are you doing anything this summer? Going to see your parents?"

"No, oh, true, never told you, I am kind of an orphan, Mr. Grim is my guardian now, so I am probably going to stay here and not do anything much."

"You want to come to my town, with me and my sister?"

"Your parents will be fine with it?"

"Of course they will."

"How far is it?"

"A day's time by carriage."

"Oh geez, a day with Rebecca in a carriage."

"She isn't that bad, and is so sleepy in trips, so she will sleep."

"If you say so."

They climbed into the carriage, Aaron letting Rebecca and Selene climb on first, "Aaron and my sister, never would have imagined that, I was imagining myself and Aaron," Rebecca said as they began moving, "How did you two, like, get together?" She said, leaning forwards with her shirt slightly too loose. Aaron turned to look at Selene, "Aaron?"

"Your shirt, don't lean forwards please?"

"Were you looking at her chest?" Selene asked getting annoyed.

"No, I was not, I am just making sure that it doesn't happen, Selene."

"Oh, geez," Selene looked at her sister, "Yeah, lean back or do something, he is my boyfriend, okay?"

"Sorry, sorry, I forgot to button my shirt completely."

"Then just do it please," Aaron stammered, "I am not a social natural and this is the first time I've had to deal with this."

"Never walked into your mother changing?" Selene asked.

"That is real personal, Sis," Rebecca added, "But please, tell us."

"My parents died when I was born, bandits killed them when I was a baby."

"And how did you get here?"

"A Queen's Knight was the guardian of our town, Herald Grim."

"Herald Grim? Mr. Grim?"

"Yes, he is essentially my father."

"He never acted that way," Rebecca commented as Aaron took his blade from its place, leaning on the carriage seat, "I noticed you had a new blade, Aaron."

"Yeah, Mr. Grim's old blade."

"It looks really beautiful."

"Is it heavy? It looks heavy."

"You know, Rebecca, there are several styles of knights, power, taunt, counter, speed, um, duel," He said, remembering the answer on his exam, "I am a strong style knight," He put his hand just above Selene's knee and gently squeezed, "This cute little knight is a duel knight," She squealed and then blushed, covering her mouth, "I guess you are either a taunt or a duel knight."

"Taunt? We haven't learned that yet."

"True, first year, um, you bait your opponent into attacking you and then taking advantage of it, you know what I mean, right?"

"Oh, I see, I see, so, what does strong style do?"

"Break a knight's guard by using brute strength, so heavy, sturdy blades are used commonly for those knights since it would be silly to use a light blade to break a guard, like this cute knight's," Selene slapped his hand, "Blade, would break after several fights with that style, mine shouldn't."

"Don't pinch my leg," She whined, making her sister laugh, "It is not funny."

"Sorry, Selene, but you never try those things with me," He kissed her cheek making her blush even more, "Well, at least I am no longer the worst one."

"You were never the worst one for me, Aaron."

"Nice try, Sis," Rebecca grinned, "Aaron, have I ever told you about the time Selene talked about enjoying beating you at the beginning of the year?"

"You did?"

"No," She was a terrible liar, "I never said that, Rebecca, don't lie about things like that," She was blushing brightly, avoiding eye contact with Aaron by looking outside, "I would never have said that."

"It's fine, Rebecca, did I ever tell you about the time Selene," She knew what was coming and lunged to cover his mouth.

"Enough, please, stop, stop teasing me, both of you."

"Sorry, Selene, I got carried away, but just ask me next time, don't act all proud."

"Hmph," She sat normally and crossed her legs and leaned on the side of the carriage room.

"You don't want to lean on me?" Aaron said, inching closer to her.

"No," She tried sounding confident, "I don't want too," After only a few minutes of temptations, she ended up leaning on him and then falling asleep like Rebecca would in turn do. As the sun was setting the carriage stopped and Aaron took his blade and looked outside, they were still on the path and not in a town.
