Year end examinations

A month passed since the return of the expedition, and just when the rush for Purple Mist Grass had slowed down, the Alchemist Association announced the refinement of 5 new pills with miraculous effects. By the end of the month Hong Yue Xian paid a visit to director Yang Xin and extorted the new pills from her.

She could not help but cry at her misfortune for signing the contract and promising their best pills as payment. She felt as if she lifted a rock and hit herself on the foot with it. But that was not his problem. She attempted to use her charms again to persuade him to go easy on her, but he was prepared and did not fall for it, annoying Yang Xin to no end. Her mood did improve a bit by the comedic sight of Hong Yue Xian escaping from her office as if he was running from a man-eating beast. She smirked in amusement, planning her revenge.

Once he got the pills he made a trip to the Winged Dragon Family and met with Xiao Ning'er. He chatted with her for a bit before giving her half of the pills. She was very grateful for it, but the only way she could show it at the time was by giving him a kiss on the cheek. After which she ran back inside her family's compound with a flushed face.

The very next day she gave him a red jade necklace while blushing furiously, after which she once again ran away. Hong Yue Xian knew the significance of the necklace and could not help but beam the rest of the day. He also made sure to keep it safe, and on him at all times. He knew it was probably his imagination but he could feel the warmth the red jade gave off. As if Xiao Ning'er was always with him.

Soon the year end exam day arrived, and all the students were tested one by one. Hong Yue Xian did not take it seriously and only came to watch Nie Li give a show. As for getting into genius class it was easy. He was already Gold rank before but now after a month of using pills, his soul force reached 5 star Gold rank, same as his strength. Given a few more months he will be able to break through to Black Gold rank naturally. Of course he could not wait that long and already had a plan of action in mind.

His demon spirit was upgraded as well to 5 star Black Gold rank. Unfortunately there were no Legend rank demon spirits on sale in Glory City. So if Hong Yue Xian wanted to improve it further he would need to hunt one himself or find some other way to acquire it.

As he entered the school field he was able to notice Xiao Ning'er straight away, as she was very eye catching. With her rise in cultivation she became even more beautiful. Her eyes sparkled, hair glowed and her body exuded an enchanting aura, just like an immortal fairy that descended into a mortal world. At the moment she was constantly looking around as if searching for someone. Hong Yue Xian wanted to play a trick on her, so he sneaked behind her and covered her eyes, while whispering in her ear.

"Guess who?" Xiao Ning'er was first shocked and scared when she felt her eyes being covered but once she heard his voice she relaxed completely and said. "Xian."

Hong Yue Xian removed his hands and greeted her before leaning again very close to her, making her flush red, and causing the surrounding boys to grit their teeth in envy. Ever since she gave him the red jade necklace she seemed to be less tense around him and more trusting.

"Ning'er, how is your cultivation?"

"Umm. I have already reached 1 star Silver rank Demon Spiritualist and even integrated with the demon spirit you gave me. I am definitely going to Genius class. What about you, Xian?"

"Well done Ning'er! I am also going to Genius class, and please keep it a secret but I am already a Gold rank Demon Spiritualist." Said Hong Yue Xian as he heard Xiao Ning'er gasp in astonishment. She once again realised how mysterious and amazing Xian was. She compared herself to him and felt herself unworthy. She swore to cultivate even harder to catch up with him.

"Ning'er..." Comforted Hong Yue Xian, as if he could read her mind. "You don't need to feel depressed, you were delayed by your condition, otherwise you would have been Gold rank by now as well. It is good to be diligent but I do not wish for you to work yourself to death. Please take better care of yourself. Can you do that for me?"

"En. I will." Replied Xiao Ning'er in a soft voice, before she suddenly seemed to remember something.

"Xian, I heard from my family members that the Hong Yue's and Heavenly Mark's businesses have been greatly pressured by the Sacred Family recently." Xiao Ning'er leaned in and whispered in Hong Yue Xian's ear, her hot breath tickling his earlobe and making his heart itch. He enjoyed being this close with Xiao Ning'er.

"Only business? I understand Heavenly Marks but to think my family as well. It seems Sacred family is very overbearing." Inquired Hong Yue Xian.

"En!" Xiao Ning'er nodded her head. Even if the Sacred Family is powerful, they can only suppress other families, because Glory City forbids internal conflicts. If the Sacred Family were to use force and violence on Hong Yue or Heavenly Marks Families, both Legend rank Demon Spiritualist Lord Ye Mo and the City Lord wouldn't let the Sacred Family off.

"It is ok, Ning'er, don't worry. The Sacred Family will not be arrogant for long." Chuckled Hong Yue Xian. Xiao Ning'er was surprised by his attitude and confident demeanour. She wondered if he already had plans to deal with the Sacred Family, the thought of which made her gasp in astonishment.
