Beware of girls who like to ship things...I mean, people

Jia Xinyue suddenly looked up from the screen she was reading. It was some random article about how to get clear skin.

Clearly unhelpful, yet she was still reading it.

"Kian, it's going to hurt, but you need to go into Lan Wei's body."Jia Xinyue said.

Kian looked up, confused.

"Lan Wei's sick though." He said, a little doubtful.

"See what you can do about his condition for now."

With that sentence, Jia Xinyue stood up and got ready to climb the wall of screens again.

"Ok big sis!" Kian replied enthusiastically, before zapping into Lan Wei's body.

He gritted his teeth at the bone-deep pain from the poison.

[Even being tortured by pain would be better than seeing one more cat video]

As soon as Kian had zapped away, Jia Xinyue immediately jumped back down and rushed to the screen with cat videos on it.

She had been waiting for hours for him to leave! Jia Xinyue tended to have some...strange reactions when watching cat videos, and she didn't want to scare Kian into thinking she was a crazy cat lady.

[Although being a crazy cat lady would honestly be goals]

"Ahhh! This one looks so much like Kian!" Jia Xinyue squealed.

On-screen, there was a blonde kitten swatting at a pink yarn ball, meowing softly. The person filming the kitten was also in a state of excitement, cooing at the kitten.

"Just...one...more...time…" She whispered as she pressed the replay button for the third time.

Right after the video began, Jia Xinyue was suddenly struck with a sense of loneliness. She paused the video and looked around her. Other then the hums of the small sparks of electricity that came from the wall of screens, it was silent. She took a breath, and it was like she could hear her own heart, pounding in her chest.

Silence wasn't a thing Jia Xinyue hated.

But it had been silent for a long part of her life. Silence was something she was supposed to be accustomed to.

Why did she feel like this? Jia Xinyue felt a longing for her university dorm, for her friends that lived there with her. She longed for 12AM midnight snacks and studying together with Tiantian. She longed for the spicy hotpot that everyone ate together during the cold winter nights, the warm lights illuminating their faces, a contrast to the bitterly cold snowy night outside.

How were they? What were they up to? Did...they grieve for her?

[Do they miss me? What if they don't miss me? What if I've just been a burden on them all along?]

Tears streaked past her cheeks, like a flood that had been building up for too long. She tried to hold back a sob, but it didn't work. The tears just kept on coming.

Jia Xinyue had been in denial for too long. All this, it was a little like a game, like they were filming a drama and once they were done, she'd be able to go back and continue her studies.

She cried for a long time, her sobs echoing in the endless space.

An hour had passed when Kian came back. He quickly noticed that she was still watching cat videos.

[Don't tell me, she's been watching those for the entire time!]

"Big Sis?" He asked, carefully approaching Jia Xinyue. Girls who were in a state of excitement do not like to be interrupted doing what they liked. This ranged from shipping to watching cute videos.

Careful steps.

One had to be veeeeery alert, or else they would turn on you with guilt-tripping. Even worse, you may be harmed by the High Pitched Squeals or the occasional hair flick in the face, as the girl will definitely not be paying attention to anything around her.

Never suggest to a girl that the object of her affections is bad in any way. Otherwise, you will face their wrath.

Nothing more terrifying than a girl who has had her daydream disrupted.

Kian blanched at the memories. The girls who got close to him were bad enough with their intentions, but the girls who shipped him were even scarier!

[Girls, still terrifying like always]

[Even in A.I form!]

There had been a guy in his school who all the girls referred to as Prince.

Cringy, but it was the truth.

Kian was always shipped as the bottom, which made him fume.

[I know I'm short and all, but a man still has his pride!]

"I-Kian! You're already back! I was- uh- making a break!" Jia Xinyue stuttered, face slowly flushing red at being caught red-handed, "I mean- I was taking a break!"

Kian chuckled a little.

"Oh! So that's how it is." He said cheerfully, walking over to Jia Xinyue and peered over her shoulder.

"That one looks a lot like me!" He said, casting a meaningful glance at Jia Xinyue.

[This brat!]

[I don't think he's as naive as he lets on…]

"Uh...yeah. Let's go find any information." Jia Xinyue quickly diverted the conversation and immediately left Kian, who's cheery demeanor turned cold.

[This level of emotions-]

[There's something it, no, she, isn't telling me.]

Kian shrugged. She wasn't harming him in any way. There was nothing else to do now that he died in his previous life. He could only go on, try and survive in this new world.

He was...kind of grateful though. For her company.

[This sort of thing. I can't really imagine anyone going through it alone.]

When you arrive in a new world, you live with the realisation that it's just you. That no one else would get your references, that no one would know what life was like for you. It was a different kind of loneliness.

"There's going to be a trial in a month's time. People who pass become students at Jiang Academy." He called out after her.

He had heard this tidbit from the servants who were in charge of Lan Wei. It was apparently a topic of controversy in the capital as normally, the Jiang Academy only accepted students of a high birth.

However, this time, they opened their doors to the public for the first time with a trial.

Jia Xinyue turned around, interested.

"You want to do it?" She asked, cocking an eyebrow. They weren't even close to curing the poison in Lan Wei's body, plus, he hadn't done any training.

There was too little time.

"Can we try at least big sis? Pleeeease!" Kian said, pouting.

He looked at Jia Xinyue with big puppy eyes, which reminded Jia Xinyue of the kitten she was watching before.

With a deep sigh, she said-

"Fine."
