Choosing Techniques

"Father, I would like to use two weapons!" Shi Li's eyes gleamed. His decision was final and he was sure that he would see it all the way through.

Shi Xingwan's eyes slightly widened as he didn't expect getting that answer. He then calmed himself down as he gave a light smile. "What are the weapons you'd use, my son?"

"The hammer and the sword," Shi Li seriously replied. Although he knew that he would become an expert in one weapon when he devotes all of his time to just a single weapon, he would still pick up two weapons nonetheless. Why? It's because he has the confidence to do so.

With the red pearl improving his cultivation aptitude, he was sure that he would be able to master both weapons easily.

Shi Xingwan slightly frowned as he asked, "Why those weapons? Why not focus on just the sword?"

The Shi clan was a clan that had every martial technique for every weapon, but it had the highest amount of martial techniques made for the sword. If Shi Li only chose the sword, or just a single weapon, Shi Xingwan wouldn't complain. But to pick two? Did he let his aptitude get to his head?

Shi Li took a deep breath as he calmly explained, "The reasons why I picked the two weapons are the following."

"I chose the sword because our clan has a lot of sword techniques that could be learned even at the Martial Master level. That means I can learn multiple sword techniques and possibly turn it into a sword technique I can call my own."

Although he was not sure if he could combine techniques together, in the novels he has read, the protagonists would usually base their original techniques on other techniques or combine other techniques in a unique way. He wanted to try it out while aiming to become the best swordsman.

"As for picking the hammer, I chose it since I have higher strength compared to my peers at the same cultivation realm. The only object that allows me to use all of my strength efficiently in the battlefield would be the hammer."

Shi Xingwan looked at his son and said, "You can only choose techniques from the bookshelf on the left since the techniques on the right need you to be at least at the Martial Elite stage to successfully cultivate."

Shi Li nodded with glee and headed towards the left bookshelf. He then grabbed the book from the bottom rightmost portion of the bookshelf and started to read. After skimming through its contents, he shook his head and placed it back, picking up the book beside it.

'I need to pick a sword technique that would allow me to attack and defend. It would be useless if I only knew how to attack but didn't know how to defend. Same goes vice versa,' Shi Li muttered inwardly.

After half an hour, Shi Li's eyes lit up as he read the contents of the technique.

"Anyways, let's head towards the hammer techniques section," Shi Xingwan gave the book back to Shi Li as they walked towards the bookshelves that held hammer martial techniques.

'This time, I need a hammer technique that would allow me to exert all of my power...or possibly exceed it!' Shi Li's eyes lit up as if a flame was formed within both eyes. Not long after, he found the technique that suited his current needs.
