The light's in Siji's eyes changed and I swallowed hard recognizing those glints in his clear eyes. Here comes the coach, I thought.

"Tom, I congratulate you again for finally realizing the thing that has been holding you down this whole time. You have finally advanced to the point where not many people could achieve easily. Perfection needs sacrifice. I'm sure you all know about it. To achieve the highest peak of bonding within the army, both of you must sacrifice that much. That's why I had no comment about your relationship so far." Siji looked back and forth between Jane and me.
