Evolution

Lachlan woke up and analysed the worlds again, he couldn't stop thinking about it throughout the morning. He was also terrified of what's to come from this evolution and whether humanity can stay at the top.

Lachlan had decided to take to the internet and post online anonymously; however, due to him having no background nor reputation, there's no reason for anyone to believe a word that comes out of his mouth. Today, he would take it up with his family in hopes that they would believe him.

Lachlan also realised that his eyes were more unique than he thought, he had the ability to scan entire planets, learn the weaknesses and strengths of animals, and what their potential is. Of course, it seemed there was a limit to his abilities. He had to see at least half of the body before he could analyse it.

Lachlan didn't know what the potential part in information screens really meant, he just thought that animals with higher potential were stronger than the rest, which they are. But in reality, they might be the determining factor of how they evolve. It might even be the reason his eyes had changed.

Humans having 8th Grade Potential probably meant they weren't on the good side for this planetary evolution, and are possibly going to suffer tremendously. Although he didn't like that fact, it was a fact that he had to accept.

Of course, who knows for certain. Maybe their weapons will give them the ability to survive, unfortunately, as not everyone has weapons a lot of people will still be killed off. Cities would turn to ruins as its buildings might collapse on itself.

Walking outside his room he made a beeline towards Chloe who was currently in the kitchen, she was making baked beans and scrambled eggs.

He sat down on the stool in front of the counter, unsure of how to approach the situation he just said it outright. "Mum, we aren't going to die, the world is currently undergoing an evolution due to the celestial body colliding with us. We'll be fine."

Chloe looked to her son and sighed, walking around the counter she wrapped her arms around Lachlan and held him close. "It's alright Lachlan, you don't need to make up any stories for us to feel better, I've already come to accept that there's no escaping from fate."

"No, mum I'm serious!" Lachlan said loudly and seriously.

"And I am as well," Chloe said in an apathetic voice, she let go of Lachlan and returned to cooking. "Now, go wash up, breakfast will be ready soon."

Lachlan nodded before going to the others, explaining the situation they all laughed and patted his head. No one believes him for a second, although, it certainly did make for a bogus story, one someone would come up with when they turn insane.

A few days went by and chaos slowly died down, people were beginning to accept fate, others still looking for one last bit of hope turned to religion. Lachlan didn't both mentioning his eyes to anyone else, there wasn't a reason in doing so, none of them would believe him.

As for his family, they've already forgotten what Lachlan said to him, so even once the evolution happens they wouldn't suspect what he said for a second.

As for life, it just continued ongoing its daily route, no straying too far from its path as they continued to hide within their house. Although the chaos has died down, the ones still continuing it are the worst of the bunch.

It was the final day, the evolution stone was just about to collide with Earth and force a new era upon them. Now Lachlan was certain if they sent a rocket out it could definitely make it to the stone.

Lachlan was terrified and concerned, to have his whole world literally flipped upside-down. They were going to have to adapt to the changes that are coming, ones that they might be a little hard to accept.

Lachlan and his family long since left the house and drove to a higher viewpoint to see the collision, if they're going to die, they may as well see how. Lachlan knew they weren't going to die, but they didn't believe him so he never bothered pushing his information any further.

He also predicted that they might need to have a safe hiding spot when it happens. Although uncertain about the evolutions, he knew the animals would get a lot more dangerous. So he left the car door open, his family didn't suspect a thing as they were more worried about the world being destroyed.

On top of the hill, everyone was sitting on the ground on a picnic blanket, of course, they weren't having a picnic. They were staring off into the distance, into the sunset where the celestial stone floated just above.

Chloe was holding Sarah within her arms slightly tearing up and apologising for giving birth to her in this doomed world, her tears falling on Sarah's face as she was quietly napping. Jack was holding onto the Bearded Dragon, feeding it some insects that were nearby.

On the other hand, their father was still nowhere to be seen. They hadn't been able to get in contact with him so they had thought he might have already left in a hurry, possibly forgetting his phone. However, after the many days passed there was still nothing.

The Government had set a timer on all electronic devices counting down to the collision, there was one more minute until the collision, the evolution stone was just about to touch the planet.

Lachlan stared up at the stone, it was enormous.

He looked at the timer, 30 seconds to go. The surroundings were silent, everything's gaze stared towards the large planet coming for them. Its large red body almost blocking out the sun.

The stone began to split the clouds, tearing through the air as it hurtles towards Earth's surface, everyone could hear it coming, the ground was shaking because of the sound and wind it gave off. The final countdown has begun.

"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1"

There was no loud explosion, no ruptured ground, no Earth. All around Lachlan was a bright white light, suddenly it felt as though the light engulfed him, forcing him to close his eyes as they stung.

A booming voice sounded out, [Starting Evolution]

"Huh. Who's there!" Lachlan shouted out but received no response.

[Detecting Unknown Bloodline]

[Analysing]

[Analysis Complete]

[Forcing Evolution]

Lachlan quickly grabbed onto his head, his eyes began to burn, screaming in pain he was spinning around in this unknown space. Not long after the burning, his eyes began to feel like they were getting stabbed by thousands of sewing needles. Lachlan felt as if he has been in pain for days, maybe even weeks. He had curled into a small ball, waiting for the time the pain finally fades away.

[Evolution Complete]

Lachlan felt relief overwhelm his entire body, he became so relaxed before trying to open his eyes. Noticing he was back of Earth he quickly looked towards his family members and saw that they were all okay, but when he saw Jack he froze.

In front of Jack was a 3 metres long and 2 metres tall lizard, its scaly body was light brown, teeth that looked like iron and had sharp spikes around its head and down the spine of the body. At the end of its tail was a ball that looked similar to mase.

Lachlan had to know what he was dealing with and stared at the lizard, "Analyse".
