Before Axel could reply Eaven's sharp glaring, she had blown a 'bugle', which was an item to summon certain spells and terrain magic in the Shadow Realm in the game of Mabinogi. However, Axel knew that this 'bugle' had been something very strange indeed. He felt a imminent danger about to surround him altogether.
Eaven's appraisal skill was a rare skill that existed exclusively in this world that Axel had transmigrated to recently. Axel did not expect his entire status window to be naked in the open like that for display. He noticed that from day 1 that he could only see an outdated version of his Level, but he could not see his extended status window that contained all the other stats. This was a huge difference from the Mabinogi game, and the appraisal skill proved to be very useful in this world. Even the elemental orb could at least gauge an adventurer's Leveling progress and what adventurer rank they had advanced to upon completing requests.
As Axel was about to flee from the main plaza, he heard the incoming footsteps of the infantry soldiers marching in from the outskirts of the town. When he looked up, there were dozens of archers already ready with their bow in a firing position on the top of the battlements of the Dunbarton's granite stone walls. The situation was grave, as Axel felt like he had been checkmated in an instant from Eaven's 'bugle' call.
Axel had already reached the west gate of Dunbarton by the time almost all the soldiers had assembled in the main plaza. There was at least a company of soldiers lined up in a square formation in the plaza. Approximately 100 soldiers were donned with light platemail armor, and had a broadsword and wooden shield equipped as well.
"I'm really in deep sh*t here!" Axel thought as he continued running outside the gate. The moment he got out of the gate, the archers started raining arrows upon him. He kept on running farther and farther away, but he could not dodge the dozens of arrows pointed at him. A few arrows ripped into his back, and some were deflected as he used his Short Sword to block them. The scene before him was perilous as he saw his that his eyes were tainted with blood and his vision was slowly blurring around him. This was a sign of his health points reaching an all time low, and Axel was on the verge of death at any moment. Finally he blacked out, and his consciousness seemed to fleet away.
Suddenly, a cloaked figure with white wings came into his consciousness. Axel immediately recognized the robed person before him. It was Cichol, the God of Fomors!
"So how do you like being hunted down by your own people? Humans are truly foolish, hahaahahahaha!!!!!" Cichol chuckled in the distance.
"Cichol, you f**king b*stard!!!! One day I will rip you into pieces until you cease to exist!!!!! All of you so called gods can go to hell!!!!!!!!!!! I will make it my vendetta to destroy all of the deities!!!!!!" Axel bellowed like a madman.
"Pfffffftttt!!!!! Who do you think you are, Milletian? The moment you didn't accept my calling was the day you became a slave to me!!!! You will forever be a mortal enemy of the humans as a filthy fomor and never see a moment of peace again!!!!!!" Cichol laughed as his voice cracked out.
Axel was fuming on the inside and the flames of rage seemed to fan even stronger. However, the entire dream like space was only a part of Axel's subconscious so he was unable to move and materialize himself in order to give Cichol a piece of his mind.
"Well, don't worry my little incubus, I won't let you die just yet. I have great things planned for you to do as a member of our Fomor race! Let me unlock the true potential of your innate abilities as a 'Incubus Overlord'!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!!!!" Cichol screeched as he gathered a mist of dark energy in his hand and threw it inside Axel's subconscious world.
...
On the outside, Axel had already fallen and his lifeless corpse stuck with dozens of arrows was lying flat on the grass fields just outside the West Dunbarton Gate. A group of 10 infantry solders had marched near where Axel laid, and were about to carry his body inside the town. As one of the soldiers bent down to check Axel's pulse to see if he was still living, a purple haze started flowing out of Axel's body. The haze become denser like a sandstorm, and soon fully enveloped Axel's body, causing the soldier to step away in an instant.
Seeing this purple storm surrounding Axel, all the infantry solders from the company formed an encirclement around the Fomor before them. After a few seconds, a fully healed Fomor had appeared in front of them. All the arrows had disintegrated into dust, and a slightly muscled bare chest could seen in the open. The Fomor's clothes had ripped from the barrage of arrow attacks, but his trousers were still intact. What surprised the soldiers was not the Fomor's disheveled clothing, but rather the two cone like horns that had uprooted from the side of its head near the ears.
"It's truly an Incubus Overlord! Everyone, we must slay it at all costs!" a captain with a cape yelled out in the back of the encirclement.
In the eyes of the humans in this world, a normal Incubus would have been not much of a threat, as its combat abilities as well its seductive magic powers would be only able to affect a small group of females countable by the fingers in one hand. However an Incubus Overlord would be completely different story. The size of the horns on an Incubus decided their rankings among the Fomors. Horns as small as the one before them meant that it was a Fomor on the same class as a Field Boss. It would even rival the combat abilities of the Demi-Lich boss in Peaca Dungeon, and its seductive magic powers could entrance a massive number of females equaling to population of Dunbarton. Truthfully, the amount of information on Incubus Overlords were extremely limited but at the very least the level of threat that it posed could be said as catastrophic if its abilities were used.
Soon after, the Fomor summoned two bat like wings and hovered about 30 meters off the ground. As the entire company of soldiers expected it to attack, in an instant, the Fomor had disappeared into thin air. Seeing that the Fomor had fled in a hurry, everyone's expressions turned into a large grin. The Incubus Overlord had been repelled, and everyone cried with joy! It was a rare event where they did not have single causality despite the level of threat that had breached the town of Dunbarton.
Despite the cheers of victory, there was one individual that had a grim look on their face. It was Eaven, who had reported Axel, and she knew that although he had escaped, it showed a new ability that every soldier at the scene did not discover at all. The Incubus Overlord most likely at a long-ranged teleportation ability while in flight! This meant it would be very difficult to defeat in the future if they had encountered Axel again.
...
In the southern parts of the grassfields outside of Dunbarton, a flying humanoid had appeared out of nowhere as it swiftly landed towards the ground. This creature was indeed Axel, who had completed his transformation into a Incubus Overlord, and he looked like a demonic being that had been summoned from hell!
"Damn, things have really taken a turn for the worst. Luckily this teleportation ability is an inherent ability which I can activate at any given time." Axel thought to himself as he scratched his head. Except what he had scratched was not his head, but his cone like horns.
"I've got to conceal these horns somehow." he thought as he hiked further south into the regions of Gairech Hills.
