All Surrounded #2

The gun in front of her had to be real, there was no other way around it. It was so close she could almost smell the gunpowder. Her heart was in disarray. The woman holding the gun was wearing all black, almost blending in with the night, and the lights were out in the staircase. She couldn't see her face clearly, but saw how she stood firm and strong.

"Raise your arm, walk right in front of me," she said. Her voice was cold and deep -- deeper than any woman Diana ever heard speak. She didn't doubt that she would shoot her if she did the wrong thing.

She could try her luck and use the gun in her hand, but would she be fast enough?

When she thought about it, both of the men that tried to get a hold of her didn't hurt her, especially the last guy when he had more than one chance to pull the trigger.

That meant that they wanted to take her somewhere, not necessarily kill her right away.

She might find a loophole in all of this, because Diana was sure that she wouldn't die anytime soon, that would break one of the patterns.

She internally grimaced when she thought about how it was her first time having twenty-four hours to begin with. She didn't know if the patterns mattered anymore.

Diana took her time walking, feeling the woman's eyes following her silently, gun still pointed at her head. One feet in front of the other, she told herself.

She was beginning to go down the stairs when the door behind her opened, and a man appeared.

Diana forced herself not to look at his bloodied hands.

"What took you so long?" The woman asked. The man shrugged and told her that he had to change into his suit.

Their conversation didn't continue long as they kept nudging the gun on her back to push her forward down the stairs.

"What do you-"

The gun jammed into her head hard, she almost lost her balance, "Don't speak." Diana gritted her teeth, trying not to lose her cool. She tried not to think about the man that had sacrificed himself for her.

She was facing the window and again, the moon was looking as big as it did when she had woken up. So majestic and stunning, she thought she was dreaming.

As she was putting her right foot in front of the other, she heard a gunshot behind her, and she instinctively closed her eyes.

The smell of gunpowder was so strong, it engulfed her whole being and for a second she thought she had died. She only opened her eyes when she noticed that she was still alive and kicking.

The gun was no longer pointed at her head, and when she turned around, she found the man standing in front of the woman's body, underneath his feet was her blood, and he had removed the mask from his face.

"You don't even know your comrade's voice," Her bodyguard said, she noted that his voice had a hint of sarcasm as he looked coldly onto the body of the woman. Diana didn't know how to feel.

He had turned his head to her and she knew that her face conveyed her confusion and millions of questions, but he only gave her a nod. "Are you okay?" When she choked out a yes, he began explaining to her everything while taking her upstairs back to the library and through the main door.

"Those suckers had already planted their whole crew inside the house. They even had hid their suits and clothes here and there to change into them when they needed to throughout the mission. They are serious business, and I was lucky to dodge the bullet when I had," He glanced at his arm. That was where the blood came from. He stopped in his tracks when they reached the last step of the stair, and looked directly at her, "Miss, I'm telling you this, so you could understand how serious this situation is. Don't move away from any of the guards and always have your gun with you. Nobody will ever tell you to give your gun away or move with them without any reason, so don't trust anybody that does that."

"Where are my parents?" She saw how empty and quiet the house was. Nobody was in there.

"We took them to the side house. Before the security could reach you, they were taken out." His eyes flashed with a weird light when he saw her looking at a blood pool underneath a doorway and not even flinching.

He had seen his young miss around here and there, and she always appeared so flowery and nice, but to not even flinch when a gun is pointed at her or scream would have made him doubt her identity if they weren't in such a situation.

"I was lucky to get a hold of someone after I got rid of that guy." He mumbled. "If not, I would have been as clueless as you are right now." They still had one floor to go down to, but when they were going to do so, they heard a noise from down there. "Hush, don't make a sound," He whispered to her as he took her inside an office nearby, and closed the door silently.

He walked toward the window and peeked a little out before cursing. "They are all over the house." He took out what looked like a phone and pressed a button. "I'm with the young lady, how is the situation with you?" All he got back was static sounds. He pressed again, "Hello? Anyone there?" Again no answer. He gritted his teeth and looked at Diana.

"Something must have gone wrong at their side," He opened the door to the office and looked out to see if anyone was there. "There is a secret door that they took the madam and master out from. It is downstairs," He informed her.

She thought about the door they had walked her through last time when she had to meet the Master. Even though she didn't remember a way out from it, but the door probably had more secrets than she could think of.

She suddenly had an idea. She ran toward a bookcase on the wall and started searching between the old books that laid there. She tried her best to remain quiet yet fast at the same time. When she found what she needed she let out a relieved sigh and ushered for the guy to come over.

She laid the paper on the table. "This is the blueprint," She told him, "The door won't show here but I remember that it was near the kitchen." She circled an area and saw him nodding in agreement. "The only thing is left is how we are going to get down there," She whispered.

They had a moment of silence before he had looked up and told her reassuringly. "I'm going to distract them and you go there,"

She widened her eyes. "No, I can't-"

"The door is enchanted with a spell. As a family member, putting your hand on the wall and demanding it to appear, will do,"

"Listen to-"

"Yes, miss," He insisted. "I gave my life to the Gray family when I agreed to work here. I'm not sad about it or afraid. This is the only way I could repay your family for what they had done to me." He didn't say anything about his past but she could feel his loyalty. She saw him taking a photo from his pocket and giving it to her. "My name is Zack, and this is Emily. If anything happens to me, I would want you to tell her that I'm sorry and give this picture to her." She tried shaking her head but he forced the picture in her hand and held it. "Please miss,"

His eyes were so sincere and light. Their brown color and his peaceful smile, that he had offered her, told her enough about him as a person. She didn't talk to him before or meet him, but just this meeting was more than enough to make her hold him close to heart. "I promise you,"

His smile grew into a full grin, and she noticed his bright personality. It was so different from his cold eyes upstairs, but she figured that his smile was only for few people to see.

When they stood up to get out of the room, he warned her again, "I'm going to go first and distract them, I want you to stick close and never lose your gun. If you see anyone pointing their gun at you, shoot them, don't hesitate." When Zack saw her comply. He slowly inched closer to the staircase.
