Wasn't death supposed to be a dark sleep or a white tunnel? Why did everything appear orange? Where was she? Sabrina opened her eyes to find herself lying on what she assumed to be a metal bed. She tried to get up but she was tied to a pole by needles injecting her with dark black fluid. Sabrina tried to call out but she couldn't hear her own voice. What she heard instead was a strange voice, shriller and weaker. It was a croaked voice. Through the orange light, Sabrina noticed a small fairy-like creature reaching her.
"Oh good, you are awake!" she exclaimed.
"How long was I unconscious?" Sabrina asked in the strange voice.
"Oh, you were out for a few centuries. Master couldn't find you a good enough body to put you in.. But you will really like your new body." The tiny creature spoke.
"What do you mean by new body?" the unknown voice shrieked. "Who is your master?" Sabrina panicked. She had had enough role-play for a lifetime. She wanted genuine people who spoke normal words.
"I think it is best if the master spoke to you himself. He has broken so many rules for you. Yet he had to do it. It is best that he tell you why," the fae exclaimed and skipped away. Sabrina looked at the gloomy room that housed her and closed her eyes.
When she opened her eyes again it was the same ombre room but she was no longer facing the door. She had been moved and lay on a soft couch she had earlier noticed at the edge of the room. The needles were gone and she felt free enough to get up.
"I don't think that is a good idea," a deep voice told her. Sabrina looked around and failed to see anyone. Just then the door opened and a giant stepped in. He was over six foot tall with broad shoulders and long copper hair tied at his nape. He had piercing green eyes that measured her up as she lay frozen in his stare. He rushed over to her and pinned her down with his gaze.
"How did you know what I was trying to do?" she asked in a hushed whisper.
"I didn't want to scare you Sabrina, but you need to trust me with implicit faith if you wish to survive in this world," he stated authoritatively.
Sabrina blinked once and then twice but did not utter any sound.
"Sabrina, this is not a game or a role play. The only way you can continue breathing is if you submit to my authority over you. Accept that you belong to me. I am not giving you a choice. I made the choice for you when I gave you an easy death by snapping your neck. I harvested your soul from your dying body and planted it in one that is well suited to you. I deserve gratitude but that is not what I am asking of you. I am asking for obedience. Can you do that?" The man announced with a straight face at which Sabrina started giggling.
"Are you crazy?" she questioned.
The stranger reached out a slender hand and held on to Sabrina's arm. He pulled her off the couch and led her towards a door which Sabrina realized was a walk in closet. As he pulled her inside Sabrina saw another man who was a replica of him. In his arms was a pixie-like young girl with short cropped brown hair and brightest blue eyes. She had a pierced eyebrow and pouty lips. Sabrina took a few steps towards her and tried to reach the frail hands that reached her only to find that she was touching glass. They were standing in front of a mirror. However she was completelyu changed. Not only was her face that of a stranger but also her body.
"Do you believe me now?" the man asked at which Sabrina fainted in his arms.
