As someone who's friend is transgender, I have to say first: thank you for including one in your novel. However, the fact that you still refer to her as a "him" AND that - as a best friend, she calls her "brother " - I wonder if she is even a friend. To annoy her? For fun? I can't even ... what excuse is that? Transgenders NEVER identify themselves as what they were born with but with the gender they are. It's like someone calling YOU a guy when you are a girl. To have your best friend not using the correct gender to address her is seriously ... sad. They feel really, REALLY upset to be misgendered. They may not show it to fit in, but the pain is real. So Please. Use your writing to enlighten, and not add on to their pain. Thank you.
