As much as Eun Young wanted to proceed with her day normally, she couldn't dismiss the thought that her husband was now a businessman-slash-housedad. It was a refreshing sight to see the kids enjoy the dishes he prepared. At first, they thought it was her who cooked them. But Eun Young felt guilty as all the praises were showered towards her that she couldn't help but reveal the real chef behind the amazing breakfast.
Time flew by quickly that the next scenarios came in a blur. Despite Eun Young's full schedule at work, all she could think about was how Min Jae was doing at home. She could already imagine him frustrated and furious about work-related matters. And for the kids to see him in that setting, it would be terrifying for them! Eun Young was itching to know what's going on. But of course, she didn't have the courage to ask him directly and so she asked for Mrs. Bong's help.
Mrs. Bong was skeptical when Eun Young first asked her about Min Jae. She felt uncomfortable reporting his actions to her. It was as if she was spying on her own boss as ordered by her other boss! Aside from being afraid that she might get caught, she thought that doing so would just be useless. After all, Mrs. Bong saw nothing wrong with Min Jae. He wasn't acting peculiarly or inappropriately. That's why every time Eun Young asks, she kept giving her the same response.
"Mrs. Bong?" Eun Young said through the line. It was probably her seventh time calling already. Embarrassed, she spoke again before Mrs. Bong could reply. "Mrs. Bong I am truly sorry for the inconvenience. I'm just really worried and I can't seem to put my mind at ease." Eun Young honestly admitted.
She placed a hand at her forehead as she paced around her office. She didn't make a mistake by allowing him to cook his way to making her agree to this, did she? What if he found out that Mrs. Bong was reporting to her? Did he ask Mrs. Bong to make it seem like everything's okay back there? Eun Young shook her head.
"Mrs. Bong, I promise... I'll get off work as soon as I can today. I can even arrange an extension of your day off so please just be completely honest with me." She pleaded. Hearing Mrs. Bong's consistent replies about how Min Jae was doing okay and how he's currently handling things better than expected was just too good to be true! I mean... who does that?!
"Eun Young, if you're really that worried, you should've just asked me." A familiar deep voice finally replied from the other line. Eun Young was confused as it was different from Mrs. Bong's usual soft voice. However, not long after, Eun Young's jaw dropped as she realized who she was talking to. He can't possibly be...
"What--" Eun Young was lost for words. Suddenly, she lost the ability to respond discerningly. She couldn't even identify what she's feeling right now. She was upset that he was the one who answered the call yet at the same time, she was embarrassed.
"I didn't threaten Mrs. Bong or anything if that's what's in your mind." Min Jae immediately assured. "She voluntarily gave her phone to me as she was preparing my coffee."
Eun Young sunk in her swivel chair as her head throbbed in frustration. She took a while to process everything. Sighing, she figured that there was nothing else she could do. What's done is done so Eun Young went straight to her question. "Well... how are you holding up so far?" She boldly asked.
Min Jae paused for a while before answering. "Fine. There's not much going on at work so I had the time to drop little Jung Hyun off at the kindergarten." With this in mind, Eun Young visualized Jung Hyun enjoying the ride to school. He always loved riding his father's vehicles, most especially Min Jae's Maybach.
"What about little Hye Soo?" Eun Young asked next. The little girl can be quite a handful to look after. It depends on her mood actually. But then again, Eun Young saw how the little one is with her father before. Surely he'd have no problems with her.
"Hye Soo went back to sleep after breakfast. She's still sound asleep right now but I'll have her cleaned up after she wakes up so we can have lunch together." He said.
As much as she didn't want to admit it, she was surprised. Again, she was just worrying over nothing. Nevertheless, it was just the first day. He can do well now but who knows? He might mess up the next time.
"Anything else you want to ask?" Min Jae now questioned. Eun Young rolled her eyes. By the sound of his voice, he seemed like an avid student ready to answer every question thrown at him.
"No... I think that's about it." Eun Young said.
"Alright. Then I'll get back to work now." Min Jae replied before finally ending the call.
With her worries now cleared, Eun Young was able to return to work in a more focused outlook. She was now more productive than she was earlier. She was also able to finish the tasks more efficiently than before.
During lunch, she ate with Dal Rae. Eun Young heard about her horrible date the other night and even though she haven't met the man personally, she was already disgusted by him. She felt bad for Dal Rae. Dal Rae is definitely an amazing woman yet even Eun Young couldn't fathom why she frequently ends up in the same situation with such undeserving men.
They were in the middle of a conversation when out of nowhere, Dal Rae hunched and hid in front of Eun Young. She was a bit startled with Dal Rae's sudden actions. And as a result, Eun Young curiously looked behind her but she didn't see anything out of the ordinary. The place was just typically filled with visitors and doctors enjoying their lunch. Confused, she turned to Dal Rae. "What are you doing? Did your landlord suddenly appear or something?"
Dal Rae vigorously shook her head before pointing at a certain direction. "That's him!"
