They merrily had their breakfast that morning. In fact, it's been a long while since they last ate together as a family. They were always incomplete, even during special occassions. But now, although there was neither a specific event nor even a holiday, it definitely seemed like one already.
The morning went by quickly and soon, they were off to their respective places. Eun Young went to work at the hospital while Min Jae headed back to the company. Min Jae parked his car perfectly before turning off the engine. Glancing at the passenger seat, he glared at the ridiculous object.
The f***?! Does she really think she can f****** make me bring this stupid sh**?! Min Jae cursed internally.
Upon entering the office building, many employees threw glances at their boss who was briskly walking across the hall. However, it wasn't his peculiar actions that snatched their curiosity. What really intrigued them was the bright blue lunchbox that he held instead of a his usual cup of coffee. And note that it wasn't just any kind of lunchbox. It was a child's bag at that!
Kang Suk Ju noticed this too when Min Jae flew past him. And so, he followed Min Jae to his office to confirm. When he finally saw the bag with his own eyes, Suk Ju bursted out laughing.
"Hey, Min Jae! Have you gone insane? What the hell are you thinking bringing a f****** lunchbox at work?" Suk Ju managed to ask in between laughs.
Min Jae had his back facing Suk Ju as he stared at the scenery of Gangnam district before him. His fists were clenched tightly and his ears were already red from embarassment. He squinted frustratedly. "Don't f****** try to piss me off, Kang Suk Ju." He warned.
However, his friend thought the opposite. "Sh**! Is this spongebob?! Hahaha! There are cartoon characters everywhere! Can you please hold it again, Min Jae? I need a souvenir of this once in a lifetime moment!" And with that, Kang Suk Ju brought out his phone to take pictures.
Min Jae turned to glare at him. "If you dare try to post that sh** on social media, I swear you'll see that stupid cartoon even when you close your eyes!" He threatened.
Suk Ju took one last selfie with the bag before goofily smiling at all the pictures he got. These are precious moments of course! But other than that, they were also valuable blackmailing items for Min Jae. Suk Ju snickered inwardly.
"If you hate it that much, why did you bring this anyway?" Curious, Suk Ju opened the bag only to see three metal containers, a spoon and a pair of chopsticks.
That morning, because Eun Young saw that Min Jae was enjoying the food, she secretly stepped out to prepare him a take-out lunch. He was even in denial when the kids asked him about the food. But then, seeing him finish clean all the side dishes and main courses, his actions told Eun Young otherwise. It was a good thing that she already cooked a few meals beforehand. As a result, she didn't take long to prepare.
Unfortunately, Eun Young couldn't find a more decent bag to put the meals in. Worried that Min Jae might leave without her noticing, she decided to borrow one of little Jung Hyun's bags instead. Ta-da! And that's how the bag came to be in Min Jae's possession.
Suk Ju peered through the metal containers and instantly, the fresh aroma of good food tickled his senses. Since he didn't have breakfast himself, Suk Ju's mouth began to water with the smell. "You aren't gonna eat this right?" He asked, obviously indicating that he had other intentions. "Because we should never let good food go to waste, I shall accompany these meals lovingly into my humble stomach." Suk Ju said as he carefully placed the metal container back into the bag to bring with him.
"Kang Suk Ju." Min Jae said authoritatively. His eyes turned a shade darker, signalizing that his limit has been reached and it was already his final warning. With this, he gave Suk Ju a don't-f******-eat-my-food-or-else-you'll-die look.
"Geez, you greedy bastard." Suk Ju muttered as he finally left the lunchbox alone. However, before he could step away, his eye caught something. There was a note displaced inside the bag!
Suk Ju quickly grabbed it and read it aloud. "Husband, don't starve yourself. I hope you enjoy the food and please... do give it a try. EY." Suk Ju glanced at Min Jae who was now looking at the note he was reading. "Damn! You even had the guts to reject good food? Are you brainless or something?"
Suk Ju realized that there was something else written on the back part of the paper. Without hesitation, he again read it aloud. "Please give some to Suk Ju-oppa. He was really kind to help me out back then and I decided that I would express my gratutude towards him through this." Suk Ju blinked in surprise as he slowly processed the message.
On the other hand, Min Jae who also heard this felt a tiny pinch at wherever his nonsensical emotions were coming from. He thought the whole thing was just for him. And for an unkown reason, the idea of it gave him a sense of satisfaction. Min Jae kept himself composed to prevent his sour mood from reflecting on his face. Apparently, he wasn't the only recepient.
In a blink of an eye, Suk Ju quickly grabbed one of the containers. He knew that even if one of the meals was for him, Min Jae would never allow it so he had to act fast! "I'll return the container later. Don't starve yourself 'husband'! See ya!" He rapped before fleeing past the office doors of Min Jae's office.
