Killing A Powerful Monster

Zio's hunt continued and no monster could stop him but he also never encounter any monsters that were relatively stronger than him and with him being much stronger than any others of the same level they were no match for him.

Most of them were killed before they could even get closer to him as he shot them with an arrow they never saw coming, him being a hunter helped him a lot, from scouting out his surroundings and finding places to hide and snipe down his target without getting himself in danger.

Zio might be strong but he is not stupid to just go an face them head-on, like his father said, even the prey would try to struggle and try to deal damage to their predator before death, and sometimes they are successful and sometimes they are even able to kill their predators.

Zio's father thought him, 'If there is an easier way to bring down a prey do so and don't risk your life' and Zio follows this saying wholeheartedly.

He has piled up so many monster corpse that he forgot how much he has killed till now. If killing them could give experience points and this was a game he would have leveled up multiple times.

Hours passed and the killings didn't stop, on his way he encountered some to-be students who were traveling in groups in search of monsters, some looked tired while others looked quite happy with their performance.

When they noticed a single person like Zio walk past them, they would just gloat at their misfortune thinking that they will get in trouble when facing a monster powerful than themselves.

Zio also ignored the bunch and headed deep into the forest, that is when he started to wonder about something, till now he hasn't encountered any monsters that are at Energy Manipulation level one or above.

'Why can't I find any monsters above my level?'

He wondered.

[May be the Academy has already wiped them out so the exam won't be a serious danger to the people who are participating]

Tempest was the one who answered.

[He might be right]

Asura answered soon after.

Zio didn't bother to think about it anymore and continued forward, this forest is quite big and the academy was not kidding when they said that there is an outburst of Monsters, if the number of monsters that Zio alone had killed decided to join force and attack a village they would have completely wiped them off.

And this was only from Zio's count, he wondered how many monsters the others have killed, there are more than 5000 participants hunting in this monster-infested forest.

Halfway through the day, Zio found himself in front of a monster once again but this time it was not a monster at his level or one below, it was a monster at Energy Manipulation level two.

Zio was caught off guard because he appeared right in front of it because this monster was too silent, even for Zio because this monster was a Shadow Wolf before.

Shadow Wolves are known to be silent hunters and no wild or magical beast can hear them coming when they are on the prowl.

Zio just encountered one and this one looks very hungry as it stared at Zio.

[Oh would you look at that, one of the monsters must have escaped the Academy's wipeout, they seem to be reckless]

Asura said but there was no hint of worry in his voice, he was confident in Zio's strength.

Zio took a step back and didn't waste a second before shooting an arrow straight at the Monster, the arrow was fast but the monster was even faster, it moved to the side knowing the danger of the arrow and dodged it.

The arrow went right through a tree and disappeared into the air.

Zio, on the other hand, made quite a distance from the monster to not get hit by it, he then shot another arrow at the monster, the monster dodged it again and started to move around trying to confuse Zio.

Zio took a deep breath while creating another arrow and waiting for the Monster to make the wrong move, his eyes never left the monster, even though it was moving around his eyes were locked in and he also moved around the area trying to keep his distance.

The opportunity he was waiting for soon arrived and he let go of the arrow, hunting was all about skill, timing, and prediction. First, he tried to figure out the speed of the monster, then he tried to figure out its movement, with both figured out, he shot his arrow.

The arrow made of wind which can experience no drag and will continue going forward till it hits something couldn't be stopped.

As the monster made its next move, the arrow went right through its leg and stuck into the ground causing the monster to roll over as its front paw got ripped off and it came crashing down on the ground.

Zio found didn't waste any time and put Tempest away and finally pulled out Asura, the sound of Asura being pulled out from the scabbard made a humming sound as the light around it got observed due to the blackness of the sword.

Zio put all his energy in his legs and charged at the fallen Monster, with no front legs to stand up properly and support itself, it tumbled once before getting up, it tried to get up again but it was already too late.

It noticed its surrounding suddenly get very dark as if the light itself is being sucked away, the next moment its head came off its body and fell on the ground as blood-splattered everywhere.

Zio wiped off the blood and put Asura back into his scabbard.

[That was easy]

Tempest said.

[Well he is a hunter]

Asura commented and laughed.

Zio looked at the monster and didn't feel much, he was able to take this one down because it was a beast at the end of the day, it cannot win against someone who is calculative in their battles like a human.

And with Asura in his hand, he could cut down an unsuspecting enemy anytime.
