Mom's Diary(2) - The Wonder Garden

21.02.1995

My wonder rose garden.. It is my second home, it lives up my happiness and eats up my sorrow. I still remember.. our garden was not at all like this ten years back, it had been a miracle it transformed into something so beautiful. My parents, though not very rich, they wanted to build the best home surrounded by a breath taking garden. They build a really appreciable home and the garden.. it was the most talked about, nobody knows much about who build it, but it was by one of my father's close friends. We both have a vague idea of that family who used to visit our home when our parents were still alive.. But after their death, everything changed, the gardener never visited again, and the garden was forgotten by everyone.. We were two little girls struggling to live and we had only few far relative who took care of us. The breathtaking beauty of the rose garden faded away and the weeds took over the rich plants turning it into a total mess..

It was not until I turned ten, that our garden started changing. Anne rarely noticed it since she scarcely visited the garden. But I could feel the change, the petals bloomed, and there were rosewines twining all over.. Our garden was turning heavenly and I noticed it all.. And I had spent my ten years of childhood and youth in this garden, it was where my soul rested, where I poured out my heart, wrote poems, laughed at my own jokes, cried at my miseries.. It was the garden which took care of me these years and I never even watered it, or cut out the weeds, but it just grew everyday turning more and more beautiful each day.

Today was long boring day. And about my secret crush, I did not meet him today.. I even wonder whether what I experienced yesterday was just some sort of wild imagination. Lawrence.. that was his name. He is one of the most popular guys of our college. He was best at everything and Professors of every department appreciated him. He was the leader everywhere and every girls at the college died for his attention. After yesterday's incident, most girls of the college had been looking at me accusingly, as if I had stolen their husband. But I was loving this attention to. I am never that popular in my college. Though I was pretty, with very long hairs, and had bagged up a few proposals in my past years, proudly rejecting everyone, I was not much noticed in the campus,… until yesterday. So today, everyone talked about me, some from behind me and others shamelessly infront of me. Even Susan wouldn't believe when I told her that I really don't have any idea of yesterday's happenings.

I was peeping out of the windows of the classroom maybe a hundred times today, wishing to meet him, but I couldn't find him anywhere.. So that's it, he had just talked with me to return my book back and I had thanked him, and that was the end to it.

As I walked out of my classroom I saw his two friends. I ve always seen Lawrence roaming around with these guys so I sneaked behind them to eavesdrop.

" Why Lawrence goes there so frequently, he does not even take us there.. Why is he ruining his future with those stupid hobbies, he is a promising student, and if he misses so many classes like this it may affect his academics." I heard the pretty senior speak to the other man. These three were always together and were the well known trio of the college. It was rumored that they have a triangular love story.. This pretty lady loves Lawrence and the cute boy with them, he loves the pretty girl.. But Lawrence… he was a mystery to every girls.

It has been raining heavily today and it was late night.. I looked out my window which overlooked my pretty garden. Through the dark bushes, I saw a manly shadow moving about in the garden.. He was carrying something in his hand and he strolled in the garden stealthily.. It was the same shadow she saw most of the days, she saw it everytime.. the shadow of a man strolling in the garden, she had said Annie about this one day and they had even gone to the garden in the middle of the night that day, but there was no one.. And Anne said it would have been a dream.. So I might be dreaming again. I should quickly tuck myself inside my blanket and shut this ghostly thought.

....

Bella chuckled.. her mother was not like her.. Her writings were far different from her. She was lovely, cheerful and everyone would instantly like her. She felt it so coincidental, her mother too opened up her windows to watch for the garden.. Bella too had been gazing at the garden outside her windows since her childhood.. She again took the front page of the diary.. The address, it was a different place, where was this garden.. and apart from a few differences the photo of the garden in her mother's diary, it was an exact replica as in Mrs Thompson's. She decided to visit the address one day, the house where her mother grew up and the beautiful wonder garden of her mother…

She noticed many pages of the diary were either destroyed by the bookworms or were torn. She was directly skipping onto the next month now, and she hoped she did not miss much of her mom's life..

The climate outside was very cold but her mother's stories were keeping her company making her warm.. She felt so close to her mother now, as if she had never left her. The photo of the person that hung in her room was a total stranger to her since yesterday. But today, she felt her mother as someone close, who still breathed, and was a beautiful lively college girl having a secret crush…
