Dona was really pissed off.. Stranded at an expensive restaurant, she did not know what to do.. Luckily, Peter had paid the restaurant bill, or else there was no way she could get out of here.. But what next?? She did not have a penny with her, how is she supposed to travel back.. In a hurry she had even forgotten to take her cellphone.. She had never expected this. Now she was not that rich yet to know any of the people here. She sat at the restaurant thinking hard for a way out..
" Are you Dona Jacob, the author of 'The Pebbles'?"
A man's voice came was heard behind Dona.. 'Ok, I have to act cool, I am a famous author.. I cant beg for money.. It would seem very silly' Dona was thinking to herself.
Dona turned to see a handsome young man. He looked familiar too.. But she don't seem to remember where she might have met him. She gave a knowing smile and the guy seemed flattened.
" You might not remember me. I am David.." David never had a second name since he was an orphan. He did not know who his parents were. It was when the Thompsons started taking care of him that he atleast thought he had a family.
"I am David.. the editor of 'The Pebbles'.. Your book was a stepping stone for me.. After I published your book , my days became very lucky.. I have now extended my company and I should say my dreams came true only because of you.. I have met you a few times during parties, but I couldn't talk to you personally.. You are looking gorgeous today. Are you here with someone?"
Dona was not interested in this man's sober stories but plastered up a smiling face the entire conversation.. She was thinking hard to cook up a believable story for this guy.
" Actually, I came here to have dinner with an old friend of mine.. But 'she' suddenly had an emergency at her home, so 'she' left in a hurry.. I have called my driver to pick me up, but that old man never comes in time.. Lucky I have got you now to kill my time."
Dona emphasized the word 'she' deliberately each time so that she wouldn't appear to him as someone who had been dumped.. They had not even bought a car till now and a driver was something very far away.. But Dona was very good at putting up words and a great actress too.. The man opposite her looked like he was completely struck by her beauty as he was staring at her blankly..
He replied immediately, " I know Mr Jacob's home very well. Would you mind if I drop you to your home." Atlast, which seemed like years to Dona, finally the man spitted out what she had been waiting for..
She smiled at him in agreement. As Dona followed him to his car, she saw that the man had one of the most expensive car she had ever seen.. She looked at him again, he looked really handsome too, she felt a strange liking to this man.
David was really excited. His dream girl was sitting beside him. She was his goddess. It was because of her first book that he reached to this height.
But Dona was upset. Throughout their journey, she was cursing Peter for insulting her and making her look so pathetic.
Bella was in a daze.. ' Does it mean that he likes me?.. Or why would he come and hug me all of a sudden? , he also said that he wanted to meet me tomorrow.. what is it he wanted to tell me? '.. Bella was questioning herself, gazing at a broken mirror in the storeroom. She was surprised looking at herself, she was blushing and looked pink and pretty.. In every blink of her eyes, she could only think of Peter. So she was damn sure she is gonna stay awake the entire night.
She was pulled apart from her dream land as she saw a car light flashing across her windows. It was a huge car and a handsome young man got out of the driver seat. He opened the door for Dona who stepped out elegantly. So this was her new boyfriend, but she saw a different car earlier, wondered Bella.
The man entered the house along with Dona and along with Uncle and Aunt they had a fun filled family time, laughing and eating.. Bella watched all this sitting in the store room. She regretted she could never even allow Peter to come inside the house and have such a happy time with her only family. Peter may not even accept her if he knew she is an orphan too.. She had too much of disabilities, and there was nothing good in her.. Her happiness seemed to be transient this time too, muffled by the vibrations of the laughter and clattering of glasses. They never bothered to call Bella or ask her to have lunch, but they had never done it before too.. So she cuddled on the floor, hugging the pretty dress Peter had bought for her.. She had still a little hope for tomorrow.
