Begging Your Grandfather For Approval

That Day, Kang Nianxi had come to speak to his grandfather, once more, about re-taking over the Infinity Project and finally scheduling a formal wedding with Wang Tingting.

He had been married to the girl for well over a year, and due to her business sense, he had been able to improve the stock of his share of subsidiaries except for a few lost causes, so he thought that maybe now was the right time to ask his grandfather for approval.

He had asked the old man many times before but Kang Nianxi hoped that if he brought Wang Tingting along, the two could speak and his grandfather would give in. The man had a soft spot for girls, after all.

This plan was faulty in many ways but the boy couldn't realize this.

Meanwhile, Wang Tingting, who walked by his side, tried her best not to fear. She just had to show that she was good enough to be recognized as a young miss of the Kang's.

That was all...

But at the same time, it would take a lot of effort for Wang Tingting to pull it off. She was not born rich, neither did she really consider herself a socialite. All the girl had under her belt was the work she had done for Kang Nianxi's company.

She prayed that would be enough.

Gazing slightly at Kang Nianxi, Wang Tingting sought comfort but she knew she wouldn't get it from the man. He was too concerned with himself.

Kang Nianxi, compared to his siblings, was a mediocre man, with an even more mediocre reputation. He wasn't completely incompetent, but neither was he really intelligent. He wasn't mean but neither was he nice. He wasn't unloving, but sometimes his love came off as superficial.

His only fatal flaw, which was not mediocre by any means, was the fact that he had a talent for pissing people off.

It was no wonder that his grandfather ripped the Infinity Project out of his hands, mostly because, at that time, the one handling it was the Elder Tang's only male grandchild, Tang Luoyi. A boy whose personality was less than stellar.

But now things had changed...

None of the people who had worked under Kang Nianxi had anything truly good to say about him. In fact, it was only when Wang Tingting had been promoted as an executive director of one of his subsidiaries that things began to change.

Now, the executives' opinions of the man were just average, which was good enough for Kang Nianxi.

"Did you not hear me? Where is grandfather?" Kang Nianxi repeated.

The butler looked away, but he didn't speak. Elder Kang had strictly instructed that no one from his family know where he was going, so the butler just said, "I'm not sure..."

Hearing this, Kang Nianxi's face twisted with annoyance.

"What do you mean?"

"..." the Butler was really unsure what to say.

Thankfully for him, just as the pressure was beginning to crush him, Kang Mu walked through the dining room doors along with Mo Ruyi.

Seeing his third son and third daughter-in-law, Kang Mu opened his arms and said,

"Nianxi, Tingting, What brings you here?" After saying this, he turned to the closest maid and said, "Go prepare some afternoon tea."

The maid left to take care of it reluctantly.

Watching as the maid left, Mo Ruyi sighed.

Kang Mu had a bad habit of acting as if the main house was his. Sure, it would have been if he had properly succeeded Elder Kang but, now, the man had no claims to it and so, he had no right to order the servants of the house.

Kang Nianxi ignored everything, including his father's question. "Dad, where's grandfather?"

His father's expression changed. Then, the man looked at his wife.

Kang Mu: "He asked us to babysit the house but..."

Kang Mu had no idea where his father went, so he, like the butler had nothing to answer.

Seeing this, Mo Ruyi, sighed once more.

She knew exactly where the elder was. There were only three possibilities. Either the elder had gone to visit Kang Zhi's memorial, stalk Kang Liang or he had gone to annoy Kang Jun. those were his three favorites, after all, so the man, kept tabs on them and went to see them as often as he could.

Considering that Mo Ruyi had visited the garden memorial just a few moments ago, not seeing Elder Kang anywhere near there and that Kang Liang was on an excursion with friends, Mo Ruyi knew that the elder was visiting her son.

No Ruyi: "He went to discuss the infinity project with Jun."

Hearing this Kang Nianxi froze. "When did he leave? How do you know?"

Mo Ruyi crosses her arms over her chest. She wanted to say, 'it's a simple matter of deduction' but she knew that Kang Mu And Kang Nianxi would ask her to explain so she didn't plan to say that, instead, she said,

"Jun is leaving on business today, and father wanted to catch my boy before he left."

When speaking to Mo Ruyi, most people were on edge. She never changed her way of being just to cater to others and she never would.

This was the same with everyone, even her own son. If people wanted to have a good relationship with her, they would just need to get over it. Everyone knew this but Kang Nianxi had a bad habit of testing the woman.

"Are you sure?" He asked her, his small eyes sharpening.

Hearing this, Mo Ruyi turned away. This brat was questioning her knowledge or her truthfulness? How dare he.

Mo Ruyi walked towards the dining hall, as she left she said, "Don't believe my words, that's your prerogative. Right now, you're hopeless. You really don't have time to waste. If you keep wasting your precious time, one of your brothers will win the war while you're still begging your grandfather for his approval."

Every word Mo Ruyi spoke stabbed at Kang Nianxi unsympathetically.

"What do you know?" the man scoffed.

Mo Ruyi didn't reply to him. Instead, she turned around and stared at Kang Nianxi coldly in the eyes.

Mo Ruyi: "You ask me one more dumb question and I will face slap you with no remorse."

With Mo Ruyi these were promises, not threats.

Kang Nianxi shut his mouth.

Seeing how sour the situation was becoming, Kang Mu ran to put his arms around both Wang Tingting and Kang Nianxi's shoulders.

"Let's go have some afternoon tea," he said as he rushed them to the other room.

As he was being pushed, Kang Nianxi's face was completely black.

In moments like this, Kang Nianxi really hated his perfect elder brother. He also hated Mo Ruyi but he had been taught by both Elder Kang and Mo Ruyi, herself, to respect and be appreciative of what elders had done for him.

Despite not being his biological mother, Mo Ruyi had raised him like her own child, even if she had the choice to decline.

However, even this couldn't stop Kang Nianxi from hating Kang Jun.

Kang Zhi was bad enough when he was alive, but Kang Jun pissed him off even more.

At least Kang Nianxi always understood why people liked Kang Zhi.

Kang Zhi was the type you couldn't help but like and want to be close to. An ideal person. That was all Kang Nianxi knew about the man... but on the other hand, there was Kang Jun. A cold, aloof man, with no real conversational skills.

Yet he somehow got everything Kang Nianxi wanted in life.

As the Kang family members sat in the living room quietly having afternoon tea, Kang Nianxi's mind was elsewhere.

Kang Jun...

Kang Jun...

Kang Jun...

It was always about Kang Jun!

Kang Nianxi internally sneered.

The man could never understand what his elder brothers appeal was.

How could he get the people around him to love him? How could he get the elders to respect him? How could he beat his brothers at everything, without even trying?

How Kang Nianxi wished someone would give him the answers to his questions. If they did he would be glad to do anything for them. Thinking a second, Kang Nianxi had an idea.

Quickly, he excused himself, leaving Wang Tingting alone with her in-laws.

Once he was out Kang Nianxi made a call as he thought of the past.

Back when Kang Zhi had died, Kang Nianxi had had no doubt in his mind that Kang Jun had killed him.

Kang Jun was the last one to see his eldest brother, and Kang Zhi had been invited out by Kang Jun on the day he died.

And even if none of that had happened there was still the fact that Kang Zhi, back then, was Kang Jun's only competition and, in many aspects, his eldest brother was winning. Around that time period, if Kang Nianxi remembered correctly, Kang Zhi was going to be named the heir, but then he died...

It was impossible for his eldest brother's death to be a coincidence and he knew who else thought the same.

Once the person on the other end of the line answered, Kang Nianxi said,

"Sis Lan, will you help me?"

Those are the basics of all basics why people believe that Kang Jun killed his brother but there is also more that Kang Nianxi doesn't know...

Did Kang Jun arrange for his brother to get killed; yes of no?

I can't wait to write about Lu AnLing meeting the Kang family. So many interesting face slaps, so little time.
