It's an amazing book, easily the best on WN. It's fun and easy to read, yet contains actual substance and character development which is quite rare on this site. I would definitely recommend.
I got so obsessed with this book, you wouldn't believe. First chapters started good but they weren't spectacular, but as I read more chapters I fell in love more and more. Normally book like that would make me bored after a couple chapters but I don't know how but this book made me stay. In a lot of aspects it valuable to me
this novel is a masterpiece and the author is in fact a "great storyteller". a story within a story within a story. Novelception!!! This is very well written and unique. there are many novels about reincarnation and going into the past, but this is a whole different level. I would highly recommend this. the story does have its flaw. its suppose to be a slice of life and progression of a genius reincarnated novelists. well, if its going to be a slice of life in high school, it definitely deserves romance. shame juho is not interested in girls and only cares about writing. literally, writing is his way of life that he can't do without. I still think the story could've been a lot more interesting with a romantic relationship, perhaps with a female novelist his age. I also think the author should've developed Juho's friends more. they are interesting people and I don't think its fair that they are there just to visit juho once in a while. they are important characters. anyways, this is one of the best Korean novels Ive read along with the "legendary moonlight sculptor" (first 20 volumes)
This is a very suprising gem of a novel! It's very slice of life, tackling the creative process of writers, of different themes and the journey of a washed up, alcoholic writer that received a second chance. The main character himself is not very interested in anything but writing and observing the world around him. Taking it slow and simply enjoying his new life, taking things as they come. He struggles with his writing from time to time, tries to find inspiration and meets new people along the way. There is no real element of "becoming rich" or "saving the world/people/whatever have you". He saves up some money for a rainy day but most of what he'd get he gives away, content with just upholding the status quo. The conversations and writing of the author really shine in this and the translation quality is also pretty good and mostly stable. If you want a laid back novel that pulls you in with interesting themes and conversations then I think you will have a lot of fun with this one. If you have even an ounce of creative writing in you, after reading this you'll wanna end up writing yourself. (For those who know the Anime Mushishi, the MC and the novel is giving off the exact same vibe I got from the Anime.)
Boring. This is a slice of life novel where you read about the MC reading books and talking about books at his club. I enjoy reading k novels more than Chinese novels but this makes me want to fall asleep. Good to read right before bed i suppose. The MC has all this past knowledge and he hasn't used any of it after 20 chapters, might as well get rid of the reincarnation tag.
Frankly, I didn't expect much out of this... This is actually pretty interesting though and I feel like the literary concepts are actually relevant to writing a story.
This is actually quite an intruiging story. The mc is... Quite... I don't know, relatable? Not really. He seems to be quite... Cool? I wonder now, why does he know so many languages?
I read this story from the moment it came out and it is legit. The story is amazing. I feel in terms of language quality and thoroughness it is very high. I feel that there was a lack of world building in terms of other countries real, like individual people's views on the MCs books when they come out. Beside that I feel that the reincarnation was good, the time gap near the end of the book kind of leads to a disconnect and distance with the great young author we fell in love with from the beginning. In away things wrap up well but we could have seen more about his friends from middle school as well as his interpersonal thoughts which lead and almost border to fearing his death and causing his almost suicide again. But the moment s at the beginning when he writes and so on with his ups and downs as well as a bit of face smacking and comedy make you want to latch on till the end. While there is no romance it didn't seem necessary and may have seem unnecessary especially with the main characters kind of mindset in this story, of course that may have changed later in the life we don't hear of even with the ending. I also feel all the books and stories and shows mentioned within this novel gives it more substance and makes you want to look into each of those individual segments. Overall The Great Storyteller is a pretty great novel.

So I actually came here from another story called Legend of Legends, placed a comment there as I enjoyed the story quite a bit and the editor for the story recommended me to check this story out, and I am glad that he/she did. This story might be on a predominantly Chinese novel site, written by a Korean author, but it reads like a grade A Japanese novel. The depth to which the author dives into the psyche of his characters is unbelievable. The relative realism woven into the story is absolutely fantastic. I am surprised this novel does not have a manga yet. I remember reading a Japanese manga that took a similar stance towards novelists' and it was honestly an eye opener. Do not expect any amazing face smackdown or anything drastic, this is more of a slice of life kind of story, but with a gritty realism in it when it comes towards its attitude toward writing. The fact that they describe writing as a marathon that requires stamina and hard leg work is absolutely fantastic. It truly shows the understanding that the author holds towards what it takes to become a novelist. All in all, this is a book that needs to be read at least once, and personally speaking, I believe that if there are awards held for stories on this site, this should definitely land in the top 10 (for one it actually reads like a proper novel in the west lol, and not a light novel.) Thanks for the recommendation, and please keep up the great work, it is highly appreciated! P.S. As a person that used to enjoy writing, I can definitely connect well with the moment when they stated that they picture a scene in their mind, and the words just flow through (makes for a very immersive read for the reader later on) however, after reading the next step I could understand where I failed. Writing is just a part of it, the larger part is revision and editing by making sure there are no mistakes and that the diction choice is absolutely correct. Thank you for this amazing gem from Korea and sharing it with us. Cheers!
I really liked how the main character learned from his first life failures and embrace his second chance to turn things around. Its refreshing seeing low-key protagonist in a "Second Chance" novel. I also like the effort he puts into his writing.
I love this story! Its stray from the cliche-y ( if thats a word) of the writer story. I found it to be like our first love. easy to love, hard to forget. keep up with the good job
This is the best story I’ve ever read as of now and believe me, the amount of books and stories I’ve read are a LOT. At first, I was skeptical when I first read the summary and actually dared to ignore this master piece. One day, I was really bored and wanted to find a story I could bash and then I remembered this and that was the day that I honestly wanted to kill myself for judging a book without reading the first chapter first. This story is a godly masterpiece and no matter how I try and avoid reading it because I want the chapters to increase first, but I find in this story yet again.... The Best Story ever!
The story is a really well done and is a breath of fresh air from the action novels. .................................................................................................
Welcome back!!!!!! Welcome back!!!!!! Welcome back!!!!!! Welcome back!!!!!! Welcome back!!!!!! Welcome back!!!!!! Welcome back!!!!!! Huhuhuhuhu!!! I'm so happy!
Definitely my favorite novel from all the novels I've read so far. It's a great introspective novel with great characters and storytelling. It's a slice-of-life novel, so probably not everyone's cup of tea, but my god, this novel is great. I highly highly recommend. I'm considering buying the Korean version either online/paperback later after I've read the English version. Thanks to the translator and editors for putting this novel out here. I'm anxiously waiting for the two chapters everyday! Would love if there's a mass release, but two chapters a day is already pretty great.
The greatest storyteller is a really nice and interesting book. It is different from what I normally read. Impressive. Nice work to the author
[Completed] It was wonderfully cathartic. It’ll seem quite slow at first, especially if you’re used to the usual fantasy reincarnation genre, but very soon you’ll grow to appreciate the growth of the author and the beauty of their writing. It’s a reincarnation slice of life piece that’s beautifully written. Give it a try, you won’t regret it.
