Barton's Mage Tower

"HOW??? What the hell is happening to the Adventurer's Guild?"

Barton shouted as he almost spilled the tea he was drinking since while he was just chilling comfortably in his tower, a loud and deafening thunder suddenly came out of nowhere. When he saw where it came from, he saw that the Adventurer's Guild was being struck continuously by lightning that came out of black clouds.

"Impossible!!! If I am not wrong, that is the Tier 9 spell, Thundergod's Domain!"

The reason why Barton was really shocked was because this Tier 9 Spell, Thundergod's Domain, was not a spell that can be used by humans due to its complexity. It was a spell that occurs when someone is under a tribulation from the Thunder God, whoever that is.

In truth, Barton only learned of it by reading very old books that probably existed more than a hundred years ago.

Barton then decided to head out and go to the Adventurer's Guild.

In the slums area of Murkwood Town...

An old man with white hair and a long white mustache who was wearing the usual tattered clothes that the people in the slums wore, was busy playing with some children. Then suddenly, a thundering and deafening noise came from the center area of the town.

"Huh? What the hell is that?" He then looked at the sky.

"Oh boy... I hope it's not Barton. That idiot..." The old man said as he suddenly disappeared.

In Goodboy's Blacksmith Shop

"Aisleen, what do you think that is?" Goodboy asked as he was forging some equipment.

"Don't know. But it looks like a high tier spell. Want to come with me?" Aisleen asked the master blacksmith. Then she suddenly vanished.

"Well... Screw this!" Goodboy then tossed the thing he was forging to a side and went out of the shop.

While these few NPC powerhouses were heading towards the Adventurer's guild, Jay did not know what the hell is happening and how it happened.

Just as everyone inside the adventurer's guild was praying and hoping that the protective barrier around it won't get destroyed, Nuggets suddenly flew out one of the windows.

"NUGGETS!!!" Jay shouted as he saw Nuggets suddenly do something stupid.

Jay knew that this tragic event happening right now was probably due to his idea for the guild's emblem. He then started thinking how the hell did that simple action caused this.

He then remembered and shuddered in fear while he said "Sorry everyone... But... I believe Nuggets has the skill called Thundergod's Blessing..."

Everyone in the adventurer's guild then looked at Jay curiously while they listened to the rest of his words.

"Thundergod's Blessing is a passive skill that grants a player, or in this case, Nuggets, full immunity to lightning spells. But this skill will get upgraded every time Nuggets use a lightning type spell... And if fully upgraded, the moment Nuggets decides to level up a certain lightning type spell, a tribulation such as what is happening now is going to happen... If she survives, then a new effect will be added to the skill. Otherwise..."

Jay did not even want to think how grave the consequences were if Nuggets failed the tribulation.

Just as everyone heard Jay's explanation, a lady wearing and exquisite sorcerer's robe and had a veil over her face came down from the second floor and told Jay.

"As I see it, this is your fault boy. Now, go and fix it. If anyone or anything is out of place after this tragedy, I will have to ask you for remunerations."

But Jay did not even notice the lady or heard what she said since he was lost in his own thoughts.

"Did my imagination counted as Nuggets using a lightning spell? Or did Nuggets really used Spark too much earlier?"

Then for some reason, he started having flashbacks of how he and Nuggets first met.

He remembered the first time they both died at the hands of Meteora Alliance.

He remembered the time when Nuggets ate a piece of Leah's Dagger

He remembered the first dungeon they did together...

Flashbacks after flashbacks appeared in his head. Then he unconsciously started crying.

"Why... what is this uneasy feeling I am having right now?"

Jay knew that Nuggets cannot face the full force of the tribulation she is undergoing right now and when he imagined the picture in his head where Nuggets will receive that one final strike from the Thundergod's tribulation, he started crying even harder. So he made a choice which will probably cause his death.

Jay then ran towards the door and left the establishment.

"Jay!!!" Everyone in their newly formed guild shouted as they saw Jay bolt out of the door.

Outside the Adventurer's Guild

Bawk Bawk Bawk!!!

Nuggets repeatedly cried in pain as she kept getting struck by lightning. Just as she was preparing for another one, the black clouds in the sky suddenly formed a ring shape, and at the center of the ring shaped clouds, a massive concentration of lightning energy was being harnessed. The lightning's color even changed from yellow to blue.

Nuggets knew that this was probably the last one, but she knew that she cannot survive this if she took it head on. Just as the concentrated lightning strike was going to fall, a human sized chicken suddenly appeared in front of Nuggets.

"Aaaaaahhhh!!!"

The human sized chicken in front of her shielded her from that last strike. She then saw a familiar face after the skies cleared up.

"Jay???"

Then Jay, who shielded her from that last lightning strike, suddenly collapsed to the ground.

Bawk Bawk Bawk Bawk Bawk Bawk!!!

BAAAAWWWWWKKKK!!!

Nuggets' cry was the last thing Jay heard before his vision blacked out...

Nuggets then tried pecking Jay lightly to check if he was still alive.

A few seconds later, everyone from the Golden Phoenix guild came out of the building and saw a heartbreaking scene. Nuggets was crying as she tried to lift Jay's head using her body.

BAWWWKKK!!!

"Jay!!!" Everyone shouted and panicked.

"Cleric! Hurry up! Oi!!! Why are you just standing there! HELP HIM!!!"
