One thing I do love about this novel is whatever stands out that I hate about the mc or questions I have to make sense of something usually gets addressed the next chapter or shortly after. Mc is frustrating sometimes like with his recent choices but it is fulfilling to see him learn from it so it doesn’t happen again. I like how his character grows which some novels have character growth but it stagnates where they become dull so I like how this novel has him grow every so often which is frustrating of at the beginning of course before later on where they act cool most the time. Anyway great arc so far👍
First of all, I would like to apologize for disappointing many of you with this arc. The goal I had in mind was that the MC had to have something happen which would allow him to learn to be ruthless when necessary, after discarding the notion to conserve people for the greater war. So far, things had been going without a hitch for him, leading him to believe that he can save everyone. So, this event was only supposed to be the final mistake he would make before realising his folly and growing from it. Like Robert just said, we all make mistakes(which includes me, this character development arc was a lot better in my head, and I have learnt a lot from this whole experience) Next, like I said, we will get back to World Domination with an even more mature and smarter MC who has been through hardships to become who he is. Thank you all for the criticism which constantly allows me to grow as an author. And as always, thanks for reading! Hope to see you all continue to enjoy the book!
Looking forward to seeing the new Daneel in future chapters then. No novel is perfect and even the best series I’ve read throughout my life have had few arcs and chapters that were either boring/frustrating/eye roll inducing. I’m still sticking with this novel and am looking forward to his new antics Cheers 😘
What "mistake" did he did? If it's about not evacuating his people it's not really a mistake. He isn't omniscient, he couldn't know when his enemy attck will happen and how fast they could break the formation. And if did evacuate them too soon, the trap will be obvious. What if they did go rampage on his kingdom instead. Yes, he did lose people but if you look at the strenght of his enemy, it's not a so bad result.
All I see from the comments are people used to OP MCs who know it all... I don't think this arc was particularly bad. The MC was a normal citizen, he was never trained to be a ruler and comes from a civilization that handles things differently. His lack of experience and nativity is normal. People often times learn more from mistakes than from rights. Have patience with the story, please. Thanks author for the work.
All is good, yeah there are some technical issues along the way...but still enjoyable... How long since formation disabling trinkets activated to the time Daneel made it back to the palace? How the other formations actually not got affected? do barrier classified as formations? I believe you know what kind of question I want to confirm...
I don't think what the author did was wrong or bad, sure he made some mistakes which is unavoidable even some great authors makes mistake and they learn from it and that is what make them great , but for a mc to grow properly he needs to make mistakes because he is human and not some robot and you getting angry at the MC means he is doing a great job.
