chapter 32

The day finally arrived, the Evergreen kingdom once again goes to war, their knights has lined up and ready to face their enemy, the Free City State Republic on the open battlefield, the terrain for the battle was a plain, just like the last war between the three kingdoms.

"The air smell of rot…" Erik was leading the troop on the front commented as he took in a deep breath after the heavy metallic mask in the shape of lion gave way and revealed his face.

Currently Erik was wearing a Nano Battle Armor giving to him by Leonard, of course seeing that Leonard had given him some neat toy, he happily accepted the generous gift.

The moment he donned the Nano Battle Armor, he was surprised by it, he felt much stronger than before and also the feeling of secured.

It was then that Leonard told him that the armor defense could block attack from a rank eight expert and also enhanced his defensive capability and increased the power output of his human fleshy body.

Now, armored with the powerful Nano Battle Armor and the Corpse Spear that he had previously shamelessly "borrowed" from Leonard, he was ready to lead the knights into battle against their enemy, the Republic.

"I know that smell all too well, father." Leonard rode on a windshear beast beside Erik also took in a deep breath of air while commenting on it.

Erik glanced at him for a bit before shifted his attention at the enemy in front of them, the legion of undead number in the ten of thousand, waiting patiently on the other side of the plain, they stood still...motionless.

"The sight of their army is impressive, don't you think so, father?" Leonard asked his father for his opinion about the army that faced them on the opposite side of the field.

"If I could say anything for the undead, I say they had the discipline of the best of the best...followed orders down to the letter, so yes- they are indeed impressive under the correct type of leadership." Erik honest opinion.

"But too bad, they're our enemy, so much good troops, we could potentially take over another country with that amount, if five thousand was enough to destroy half a nation, then ten thousand would be enough to finish the job." Erik continued.

Leonard looked at his father as cold sweat formed on his back.

"But enough of that, can you find the commander of the undead army? He should be a Necromancer look you, try and see if you could spot him." Erik asked his son.

"I'll try to find him…" Leonard nodded before began spreading out his magical aura into the enemy side, however something unexpected happen.

"Hmm, this is strange." his brow furrowed.

"What happened, Leonard?" his father asked him.

"I could not locate him at all… all the undead had a trace of magic inside them, blending and camouflage the Necromancers, it is impossible to locate and pinpoint his exact location, all we could do now is hope for a stray arrow to kill him through sheer luck or accident." Leonard replied back while his face twitched in annoyance.

" ? You could not find him? Look like this is going to be harder than it look." Erik muttered as he lay eyes on the undead legion.

"Look, they're making a move." Leonard pointed out to the enemy, seeing as the first row of undead with shield began to marched in unison toward their own army.

"Yeah, seem like they've waited long enough and was getting impatient…" Erik turned his horse around and faced his own army.

"Archers! Ready your arrows!" he shouted loudly to the archers who were station at the back of the army with their longbow and arrows who are now begun to draw their bow and went into shooting position.

"Wait for them to come closer…" Erik narrowed his eyes as he turned toward the oncoming legion of death marching toward them.

"Fire!" Erik shouted out loudly when he saw that they have reached the middle of the field, and immediately the arrows were set loose, and the incoming barrages of arrows was enough to block out the sun itself flied into the undead legion.

The moment the arrows arrived, the shield-bearer of the undead legion raised their shield high and blocked the sharp arrows heading straight for them, unfortunately for them, they did not come out of it unscathed as a small portion of them were put back to rest, however- they still marched on fearlessly.

"Keep on shooting! Do it faster!" Erik shouted to make the longbowmen unleash their arrows at a quicker pace and managed to took down another small portion of the advancing undead.

However, something unexpected happen, from inside the undead army, magical spell were launched and head straight for their own army, most of them were fireballs, some however are more exotic, including ice spear and lightning orb.

"Shit! The mages had mixed in with the advancing army! Shieldbearer quickly protect the archers ! Everyone brace for impact!" Leonard shouted for the shield-bearer to moved back and try to protect the archers, while he himself protected his father and the surrounding troops from the barrage of magical spells.

*boom *boom *boom *boom!

The spell hit their army, causing some minor casualty for the shield-bearer, while the place where Leonard protected suffer none at all.

"You guys are okay, right?" Leonard asked them as he deactivates his magic, which was protecting them, to not waste any mana for the ensuing fight.

"Yeah, we're fine- is that a light attribute spell?" Erik asked him as he saw some white light particle still lingered around in the air after Leonard activate his barrier.

" Yes, I did some studying in the art of light magic, I have to say, it comes in handy for situation like this." he smirked as he looks at the marching undead.

"Indeed, it is handy for these type of situation, but do you have any other light attribute magic spell? Because even though I admired the undead army, but fighting them can be, unpleasant...yes unpleasant." Erik asked Leonard while looking at the undead army that marched ever closer to them while readied all type of against them.

"Unfortunately no, with these kinds of number, I doubt my magic would do much to them at all, it would be faster if we just crush their skull with a hammer, I majored in dark magic, not light." Leonard replied.

"If that's the case, then I guess we will have to do it the hard way then… Cavalry, charge with me!" Erik raised "his" corpse spear to get all the horseman attention began his charge when the lion mask once again, covered his entire face.

"Wait for me! I'm coming too!" Seeing that his father had charges into the ensuing carnage, Leonard too charges after him when his own Nano Battle Armor covered him.

The moment the two side clashed with one another, the undead side suffered the most damages as the horse hoofs crushed their skull and bones the moment the battle erupted.

"Break for me!" Erik roared as he madly swung his fear, destroying any undead that was too close to him.

He was like a wolf unleashed onto a flock of sheep, in this case… undead sheep.
