how disappointing. I can't believe how this novel goes from one of the most enjoyable read to one of the most unbearable read. sigh. seriously, I don't think I will continue reading the sequel, hell, I don't think I will read any novels written by cuttlefish anymore. this is just disappointing. hypocrite MC, filthy marie sue heroine, ugh disgusting. What did father utravsky get split personality when he got character development, but when audrey caused chaos by having commoners to storm her house, it didn't cause her to get split personality. it's so disgusting how author decides to forget this very rule when it comes to audrey. How could the girl see klein ? what happened to "do not look directly at the good" ? another bullsh!t done by author. ugh seriously, I will never read cutlefish's novel ever again. disgusting and disappointing.
regarding audrey : never got hurt : checked never put any effort and sweat in getting what she wants : checked never received setback : checked everything is provided by other people : checked equivalent exchange doesn't apply to her : checked yup, she's a marie sue indeed. sure she stole tha fate of a demigod, thanks to the artifact klein gave her. and yes I hate her. why ? I was always taught that in order to gain something, we must put efford and hardwork. I was told the story of thomas a. edison who failed so many times before he produced result. and now we've got audrey, a marie sue who always gets whatever she wants without putting any effort. watching her always gave me headache because it against everything I was taught. ugh she's so disgusting. why do I see klein as a hypocrite ? he claimed himself as a evil hunter, condemned and judged trissy and ince for being a murderer. but at the same time he allied himself with a bigger mass murderer (evernight) who destroyed a whole nation, allied himself with the biggest trio traitors, and caused world war that caused a lot of death. "When was such a "Good stays good, evil stays evil" law ever mentioned? It is not concrete, or I would certainly recall. Chapter number and character saying it?" to be fair, "Good stays good, evil stays evil" statement was never stated. but from father utravsky's case, it's clear that such law is exist. he was a ruthless pirate that became a good person, and it caused him to have a split personality. it's no different from paarthurnax of elder scrolls who was born with a great will to dominate, but decided supressed it and went on a seclusion. regarding melissa. look, I've never made a big deal with melissa looking at klein. it's the little girl that i had problem with. the law is clear, "one cannot look directly at the god unless one is a demigod". it has nothing to do with bringing corruption or not. unless the little girl was a demigod, she would not be able to look directly at klein. it's just impossible. btw, this will be my last post on this site since I no longer have any novel to read here. so goodbye and have a nice day.
Reptile_Not_Alien:First, Audrey as a character and powers have always been hanging in the background. Most things she did was noble society. It was mentioned quite a few times she helped the other nobles clear away their mental problems, as well as guide their decisions for a better Backlund. Furthermore, the seq 4 characteristic came from the prime minister who was the previous Mr. Pride. A demigod psychologist killed by Kleins. How can a demigod of the pathway that forsakes combat power for tricking be killed quietly? If you remember, it was Seq 6 Audrey and Seq 8 Susie. I may not remember accurately, but that was quite the feat with immense mental gymnastics, tricking a demigod as a mortal. She also worked as a spy against an organisation specialised in the mind domain... I'm not saying she's perfectly capable, she admits her experiences do not match her level so she reminds herself to be more cautious. This will probably be the setting for Lotm 2, seeing as she's venturing out as well as expanding her own organisation. It's a bit unfair to disregard all her efforts to make her fit your mold of "character I must hate", no? (I have a faint feeling you just hate Audrey for being born with a silver spoon. Only a feeling. And also, I don't understand how Klein is a hypocrite.) And it's funny you brought up Gon's dilemma. Gon chose to become a beast, giving into his anger. Your words. Ultravesky didn't make the choice, he was still stuck in a dilemma and tried to choose the humane choice, but part of his psyche morphed into the "beast", hence, leading to that unique problem. Most beyonders already lean towards evil, because that's literally the easiest way to advance. For example, Faceless Klein could have easily killed and replaced a poor sap to finish digesting. But he didn't. (Of course, he got a bit of plot help) Most faceless already would've done this. This also links to your HunterxHunter example. Why did Gon break? Kite (like guardian big bro figure) died. Why did Mereum (his parallel) become chill? (even though it is heavily hinted to be the personality of ruthless Gyro) Because Komugi was there. In essence, they both had huge emotional upheavals, leading to drastic changes. For most beyonders, desiring power brings the upheaval, the change being "do anything to achieve power". Ultravesky had his core shook, and didn't yeild, birthing another him as a problem. Also, I don't understand how your "Everything's constant" law (I still feel this is false) didn't work on Audrey. Did she change? She's still looking for the best, albeit more realistic. My mentioning of Melissa being a demigod, of the Savant pathway, means even if there was corruption, she would have taken steps. The patterns on the tentacle disappeared, didn't they? That's a sign. Furthermore, Megose's baby was the mad True Creator that was very hostile, bringing corruption. Here, it's Uncle Klein, the friendly maggot tentacle. This would dial down corruption a lot, if not erase it, allowing Melissa to take care of the rest. And Klein isn't a great old one, he's just holding the uniqueness, not yet absorbed. If he became a great old one without stabilising against the will of the original Mysteries... That's suicide. I feel like you would bring up one of the advancement ritual for the Demon, go on a murder spree. While it may be harder (that's the price to be good) one could easily pull a Kira. (basically target criminals) Boy, that took a long time to type. Have fun reading and writing out your side ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧ And yep, I enjoy debate. More points of view, the more fun. Author wrote a summary at the end of the volume 8, I do a brief translation here. At the end of volume 7 to make the story more logical, author speed up the progress to not expand side characters stories, but in this volume everything was under control, the small volume was designed this way. The ending was planned before the book start, tarot club member’s step out their comfort zones to face challenges of the world, Klein and Azik switched role and position to complete a cycle. The last scene mystery vs innocence, dim vs sun, dark vs rebirth, you can taste a bit of Cthulhu then a bit of warmth, it also hinted awake is near. 5 gold coins, tarot members following stories, and all other not so import things in this book are going to be expanded in the 2nd book. The last chapter was an ending and also was a prologue for next. The timeline will be between Klein’s slumber or even earlier to his awake. Everything was planned long ahead. The reasons for writing a 2nd book are one, the setting was huge and too many things can be written about, if all squeeze in one book it make the story lack of distinction between primary and secondary. Two, tarot members can’t keep up with the level up as Klein, it will use more side stories to keep them level up reasonable, author doesn’t want make them level up so easy just because they are on Klein’s side. To balance that a 2nd book is needed to give them more time to grow up to the level so they can finally help Klein. They only finished half of the game, out of their comport zones they can finally explore the world to start the second half. This will be a new challenge for author as well. How can he be able to draw old readers back a few years later (because of the contract with Qidian, he will have to write another book after current one), this will test his ability to make the book enjoyable to read even for readers who didn’t read the first one. Author doesn’t have the experience of writing a sequel before, so the challenge that under same settings to write a new story that not going to repeatable to first one excites him. He is unclear how he is going to do it at the moment but there are some scenes already in his mind. Tarot members try to wake Klein using various methods, 5 coins, iron cigar case represents different parities, and these will be the base of the next story. New MC may meet a guy telling him old hunter story, see a beautiful half face at a place, hear the news a new continent been found, cross path with king parties of the sea, explore the legend of treasures, conflict with other transmigrators or sneakers. Author leaves a large space here; there is no need to worry the contents of next book. Author has no intension to open the west continent in next book, that can be left for the 3rd book but he is not guarantee there will be a 3rd. Why lord of mysteries resurrection plan is interrupted, author gave certain hints in the book. Why magic mirror Arrodes came out from Chaos sea, why it wants to follow Klein so badly and why Klein took it with him for slumber. (Sorry, I am too stupid to understand this part.) At the end author thanks for everyone for the support, let him have to opportunity to write out the story in his head. Hand on the chest, a bow.
What Klein did for Azik by writing him letters Azik will do for him. Looks like Mellissa knows about The Fool now and based of of how she was introducing who I imagine to be Benson’s daughter him makes me wonder if she knows who he really is. Maybe Evernight tipped her off or something. This has been a great run and I’ve loved to be a part of this community here. I had loads of fun piecing together info and trying to hypothesize on what would happen despite the fact that I was usually wrong. I can’t wait to read the upcoming side stories to put off the feeling of existential dread that will come with no new LOTM and eagerly awaiting the sequel to join you all again for the adventure. Kudos to Cuttlefish for delivering an amazingly written series with enthralling characters and a beautiful and complex world. Thank you for keeping me entertained for the past several months since I discovered this series and I can’t wait to be part of the next one from day one. Thank you to both the Author and the Translator you gave us an amazing story to enjoy! I will probably have to read it a second time to enjoy it all in one go. Same goes for the Author's other book Throne of Magical Arcana which was a fantastic story too. To all the other readers it was fun to share my excitement and speculation with you all I hope to see some of you commenting again under other stories we can enjoy!
Witnessing all characters in LotM grew up as a decent human and became mature brought tear to my eyes. It carved into me: + All those big and small moments in it brought joyce and sadness, made me chuckle or shed tear T_T. + The ingenious way of fighting the higher the sequence went. + Some memes/parodies/references to modern knowledge. + The strengths and resolves human can draw on to protect / sacrifice for what we love/cherish, to advance even upon the brink of insanity, madness and death. + This quote: " We are guardians but also a bunch of miserable wretches that are constantly fighting against threats and madness" LoM started with crimson moon, death, pain and confusion then ended with bright sunlight, clarity and a high five with ya young niece.
What a journey! We see how at first, Klein is the one that got helped and power-level all through mid-sequence. Now, we see how Klein is the one that do the helping and power-level all of the Tarot Club members. But alas, all good things must come to an end, with Klein entering deep slumber, this novel is going to do the same thing. Hope we meet again at the sequel !
One of the best webnovel that I have read is finally over. Goddamn this novel was a good read from start to end, especially the parts where the author reveals some bits of secrets of the world Klein lives where its just enough to keep you further hooked in the book but not enough to reveal the whole story so that you just can't wait to read the next chapter (the hard part was if you were on that point but there is no next chapter release yet to read and you have to agonizingly wait while hanging on the huge cliff that the last chapter left you in) and also the awesome fight scenes where Klein has to use everything he'd got and tons of preparations to win or even just to break even. I'm gonna miss a lot of things about this novel now that it has ended. Especially the great characters of the members of the tarot club, Klein Moretti and his persona of both The Fool and The World, Miss Justice Audrey Hall and her dog Susie that always lightens up the mood, Mr Hanged Man Alger Wilson and his misunderstanding of The Fool, The Sun Derrick who was full of naiveté but gradually turned mature with every meeting of the tarot club, Miss Magician Fors Walls who is a bit lazy and has a problem during the blood moon ravings. The Moon Emlyn White and his hobbies of collecting dolls, Ma'am Hermit Cattleya who loves her mother very much, The Star Leonard Mitchell who was the former teammate of Klein, And finally Miss Judgement Xio Derecha who is bestfriends with Miss Magician. It has been an interesting read to say the least. Well then Thanks to both the Author and Translator for this great novel. See you guys in the sequel if there ever is one.
