Calamity arrival

"You - come here!" A man dressed military pulled him back and asked.

"Kid, what's your name ?"

"Waren!" He replied instinctively.

"Good! I need you to keep calm and run away now. Run to those big buildings you see there (pointing behind him) as if you're life depends on it! Can you do that ?!"

"Sir, I..."

"Can you do it or not?"

"I can do it!"

"Good."

Then the man got into a Humvee and immediately abandoned him as well. 'I got ditched again. Fuck'. The explosions did not stop. And so, he started moving by automatism towards the emergency buildings.

But his body was feeling better. There was no discomfort in his thoughts either. And he even lost a bit of the fear he was experiencing earlier. The most of what was left was confusion and excitement. And as the endorphins far surpassed the inhibitions when he stopped in front of the Astrology institute. He then immediately entered.

The building had been deserted now. But the machinery had not been moved. All kind of odd-looking electric devices were sitting on shelfs and tables. He recognized a compass because of the marking, a crude looking binocular as well as different size telescopes. He climbed the stairs until the end and found a panoramic telescope. It wasn't a model he was familiar with but, 'Beggars can't be choosers.'

The sight watched through it scared him for good though. There wasn't only the fire. In a semicircle the town had been surrounded by a giant of water, a giant of stone, a giant of lighting and a giant of darkness. Behind them was places a smaller giant of light as the other five rampaged to their leisure.

Their enormous frame was pitied against opponents on each side. The water and stone giants were fighting an army of armored knights. Only that the nights weren't human per se. They had different shades of red skin each and presented from their knees, elbows, shoulders and forehead sharp protrusions. They had horns.

The armor gave a peculiar feeling as well. It was dark red looking just like coagulated blood. But the weirdest thing to look at was that as they were dying the armor would not come off. Just like the weird mouth mask it would stick to their body even if cut or tore apart.

On the opposite side the giant of lightning and fire were struggling against numbers. An infinite amount of creatures swarmed them. The creatures looked like a mix between a cockroach and a praying mantis. The tough carapace and deadly feelers could easily be spotted. Even when their fellow creatures had been charred and killed they would just cut straight through the dead bodies and advance. They did not seem to be tired, afraid, or disgusted. They marched towards their death continuously. And from behind them, exiting a hole in the ground, more and more creatures came. A weird huge skeleton sat with his upper body above said hole but did not make any moves. It stood still as if waiting for something.

However everything paled in comparison with the ones facing the giant of darkness. This giant caused the most harm. The earth were it stood turned ashen, the air stagnated, the plants died. Its hands, if they could be called as such, its upper members divided once, than twice, than thrice, than more times until they covered the sky. The giant then pressed on the earth.

And everything he touched lost life.

Above the city wall up in the air there stood a woman with white hair. On her right there was a burning flame. Inside the flame silently watching the happenings a shape of a woman could be observed. The flame was black. The flame was beautiful. On her right there stood an armored knight. A pure silver armor and a sword propped on his shoulder was all that could be seen. Judging by the distance to the night the sword was immense - dozens of meters in the sky. Perhaps larger than a building a few stories high.

The woman with white hair turned around. A new figure appeared. Waren recognized the wings. She was the perpetrator from earlier. But he did not have the time to think more.

The battlefield had shifted. The last giant, the one staying behind, opened up his chest in an immense explosion of light. A chariot with no wheels glided towards the city. An angelic-soothing voice descended from above.

"You have violated the ancient agreement, humans! The faith of this star has now shifted. Your selfishness knows no bounds as your greed no limits. In the name of the One True God, I bestow punishment and redemption to the ones that have left the Path! Raqshak-Tooruga!"

With her words the sky opened as if split and light over-poured on everything as if a waterfall fell on the dry earth.

Waren felt his vision shake, than the tower shake. He tried to grab the telescope but his hand slipped and afterwards he didn't feel anything anymore.
