World Background/History Dictionary

-For those that are curious about the events in the history of 108 Galaxies, here you go.

-This includes the names and descriptions of things that have particular names like a space city or galaxy for example.

-This is to give a way better explanation of the terms compared to the explanations I give out in the story.

-This is also to help those who have trouble understanding what I'm talking about or visualizing it.

-I could include them at the bottom of each chapter, but the descriptions can be too long and boring.

World Background Dictionary

----------------------------------------------------------------

United Federation (UF) - a multi-galactic government established by humanity after the Milky Way had been fully colonized. After the cries from humanity to end the wars and suffering caused by other governments was ignored, a resistance group was established by countless humans, which managed to overthrow most of the governments. After that, humanity's wishes came true after the establishment of a central authority known as the United Federation, which is still standing to this day. Mentioned in chapter 1.

Great Barrier - A mystical barrier that has existed since humanity first discovered it after humans drained the Milky Way of resources while being overpopulated. It is a solid, invisible barrier generally spherical with varying levels of difficulty to penetrate. The galaxies on the other side of the Great Barrier are an illusion created by it which could deter humanity for a long time. Beyond the Great Barrier is a vast void that disintegrates anything that enters. Mentioned in chapter 1.

ADE (After Destruction Era) - An era spanning from the time humans began to modernize to the current 2.5 million years later. There were many periods of political conflicts, wars, and revolutions that shaped the current humanity. Mentioned in chapter 1.

BDE (Before Destruction Era) - An era before ADE when humanity supposedly dominated the whole Milky Way and beyond using only medieval technology and supernatural means. Mythological creatures and and weird alien races supposedly existed and the medieval period was horribly long. Ancient temples and relics scattered across the Milky Way are proof of this, but none of is has been confirmed true since there's no logical explanation, so a lot think of the event as a result of a massive cult. Mentioned in chapter ?.

Dark Era - A period in humanity's history after humans had colonized the Milky Way. Overpopulation and resource depletion caused the galactic market to tumble and essentially vanish. Humanity entered a low-powered state where all the robots did the work, causing mass dissatisfaction an instability within the galactic government which reached it's peak 200 thousand years later just when humanity managed to find another galaxy beyond the Great Barrier. Mentioned in chapter 1.

108 Galaxies - A term coined by the population of humanity and the scientists behind the discovery. As humans colonized beyond the Great Barrier westward, scientists discovered a weird phenomenon where the gates were at a slight angle, leading to a discovery that the galaxies would make a circle before arriving back at the Milky Way. Imagine beads on a wrist band with the beads being the galaxies and the circles being the general direction of the galaxies. Mentioned in chapter 1.

Centaurus (Galaxy 8) - a small, elliptical galaxy way smaller than the Milky Way. The size is so small that it houses plenty of orbiting globular clusters without touching the Great Barrier. Galaxies this small are generally rare, since only one other galaxy this size was discovered. Most of the galaxy has been mined of it's resources, including the stars them-self, making the place desolate. Mentioned in chapter 2.

Astraeus - the capital city of Centaurus, which orbits close to the central black hole of the galaxy. It is a giant metropolis city that floats in the vastness of space on artificial gravity. The population was much larger than it is today. With most of the galaxy barren, the population has been on continuous decline even to this day. It is still standing to this day because of it's closeness to the central black hole, which researchers use as a home. Some populations are native to Centaurus and use the city to make a living. Mentioned in chapter 2.

Spacasio Spaceflight - a multi-galactic corporation that designs, manufactures, and sells commercial spacecraft. They are in the top thirty of the largest manufacturers of spacecraft. Mentioned in chapter 11.

Western Great Barrier Station No. 8 - a large space station attached to the Great Barrier. It's shape resembles a hollowed out cylinder or a tube for simpler terms. Established over a hundred-thousand years ago, a gateway was created to colonize Galaxy 9. Due to its important location, the station is often a place for resupply for those traveling from the Centaurus galaxy. Mentioned in chapter 12.

Bell Clan - a huge clan that is the 6th largest clan in humanity's government. Originally a small clan situated in the Milky Way 1.2 million years ago, it wasn't until they produced a talented scientist that invented the Calabi Engine that they rose to fame. After establishing the Calabi Industry Corporation, they quickly grew into the 6th largest clan through profits and expansion. Mentioned in chapter 14.

Calabi Industry Corporation - a mega corporation with Bell Zhang as it's current CEO. After the invention of the Calabi Engine, they pulled in enough profits to massively expand and grow, becoming the 5th largest business organization even to this day. The invention drastically reduced the energy demands for humanity and ushered in a new era of growth for the science community. Mentioned in chapter 14.

Milky Way (Galaxy 1) - the home galaxy of humanity, where the majority of humanity's current population is present. With the exception of Andromeda and the Bullet Galaxy, most exploration no longer happens due to extreme mining at humanity's borders, prompting the majority of humans to stay in the Milky Way, Andromeda, and Bullet Galaxy. Due to humanity's nature of hoarding, the Milky Way is constantly expanding due to the imports of planets and star material. Mentioned in chapter 21.

Andromeda (Galaxy 2) - the second closest galaxy to the Milky Way. Although not the original Andromeda produced by the Great Barrier, it is a spiral galaxy similar to the Milky Way with the exception of only being 60 thousand light years in diameter. After the opening of the Great Barrier, the place was flooded with explorers, miners, and civilians wanting to colonize. Soon after, it was named Andromeda. The galaxy was stripped to it's core of resources after time, and it wasn't until the next Great Barrier was opened that the galaxy was restored, even growing to the size of the Milky Way. Mentioned in chapter 21.

Bullet Galaxy (Galaxy 108) - with the theory of the 108 Galaxies, the elliptical galaxy was eventually discovered. Having a size twice that of the Milky Way, the place was quickly invaded and colonized. The inhabitants later named the galaxy the Bullet Galaxy due it's shape being similar to a bullet. After being severely mined, the inhabitants were forced to return the Milky Way before the galaxy was restored. Mentioned in chapter 21.

Euthenia Galaxy (Galaxy 3) - an irregular galaxy 5 times larger than the Milky Way. The galaxy was quickly mined and stripped of its resources. Due to heavy protesting, the galaxy was expected to be recovered, but was canceled by the government. Mentioned in chapter 22.

Solymus Galaxy (Galaxy 107) - a spiral galaxy of similar size to the Milky Way. The galaxy was quickly mined and stripped of its resources. Due to heavy protests, the galaxy was expected to recovered, but was canceled by the government. Mentioned in chapter 22.
