Sci-fi Tech Terms

-For those that do not understand some of the sci-fi tech terms, I have made a chapter dedicated to this, which will be updated as the story progresses.

-Not all of the sci-fi tech terms will be real concepts, and some of it is just made up by me.

-This is to reduce the information dumps in the main story-line and allow you to visit this chapter for explanations if I don't include enough.

Sci-Fi Tech Terms that are real or I Just Made Up

-------------------------------------------------------

Ring Worlds - Giant mega-structures generally built around stars. Originally used for population management, it has been around since humans were still colonizing the Milky Way. Due to the intense costs of constructing them money and material wise, they gradually became obsolete with the introduction of space manipulation technology. With the exception of the Milky Way, not many galaxies have them anymore. Mentioned in chapter 1.

Space Habitat - space stations generally large in size and used for many purposes like population, research, military, business, etc. Space habitats meant for population are called space cities since their appearances generally resemble a city. They quickly became popular for civilians with the invention of space manipulation technology, which allowed the interiors of space habitats to be expanded many folds. It was then that they gradually overtook ring worlds. Mentioned in chapter 1.

Dyson Swarm - massive solar arrays that orbit a star in all directions with the hopes of capturing the full energy output of a star. As the original kickstarter of humanity's space domination, they have stayed popular throughout history even to this day. Mentioned in chapter 1.

Console - a square-shaped device attached to one's wrist like a watch. Almost everybody has one in the galactic government, and is a requirement to do anything like selling, buying, communication, attack, defense, etc. Issued over two million years ago, it has gone through many improvements and advances that makes it a must-have for surviving in society. It comes with a basic spatial storage along with many features that can be added on if one has the money. Mentioned in chapter 2.

The Black Card - a 'beyond the portal' special access card issued by the government. They are a rarity and are only released a year before a Great Barrier portal is open to the public. About a thousand are released each time, and are randomly distributed to those who run a business in the business circle like corporations, industries, etc. Mentioned in chapter 3.

Virtual Realm - a hyper-realistic virtual reality that has existed since the ancient times. Originally for gaming purposes, the virtual realm was a haven for gamers who wanted to escape reality. However, advancements of technology improved the realism, allowing virtual reality to be branched out for other applications such as politics, business, military, etc. Eventually, it became a virtual heaven for those who wanted to abandon their mortal bodies, essentially turning the virtual realm into another universe full of society. Mentioned in chapter 3.

Spatial tech - a branch of technology developed during humanity's expansion past the Milky Way. With the ability to create pockets of space capable of holding trillions of people, it quickly became a popular invention that revolutionized humanity as a whole. It's because of this that ring worlds quickly became obsolete, since a medium-sized space habitat can hold quadrillions of people. The invention gradually became applicable in buildings with the advancement of technology, allowing apartments and skyscrapers to house billions of people without needing to make the building bigger. Mentioned in chapter 3.

Credits - the multi-galactic cryptocurrency that all of humanity uses. With an equivalent value to an American dollar, credits are the basic currency that drives humanity's capitalism. Mentioned in chapter 3.

Mechs - a wide range of robotic suits that was originally meant to accommodate humans. With the advancement of technology, they quickly became popular in the virtual realm and reality. Unfortunately, the limits of the human body could only bring mechs so far before hitting a roadblock. When mental technology reached a point, some transferred their consciousness into their mechs, overcoming the limits of humanity. Nowadays with control over most forces in the universe, some speculate that mechs could make a comeback once the technology for it is small enough enough to accommodate them. Mentioned in chapter 3.

Calabi-Yau Manifold - A 6D shaped manifold that can satisfy the requirements of space for the six "unseen" spatial dimensions of string theory, which may be smaller than our currently observable lengths. Mentioned in chapter 8.

Calabi Engine - A reactor that had been invented by an unknown scientist of the Bell Clan 1.2 million years ago. With it's ability to expand Calabi-Yau Manifolds, one can generate vast amounts of energy that is seemingly infinite. While being available in the market, they were banned for weapon use outside the military since their destructive power is too potent. Even after half a million years of constant improvement, humans could only reduce the size of it to the size of a house. Mentioned in chapter 8.

Hyperspace - a popular method of travel first commercialized over 2 million years ago that involves traveling through sub-region co-existing with our own universe. It can be entered as long as one has the proper equipment for hyperspace and two hypergates connected through coordinates. Mentioned in chapter 11.

Warpdrive - the second most popular method of travel which was originally what humanity used to colonize the Milky Way. It involves simple manipulation of space in front and behind of a spacecraft, allowing spacecraft to reach maximum speeds hundreds and hundreds of times faster than the speed of light. However, its speed became inadequate when humanity expanded past the Milky Way, calling for a new method of travel. Despite this, the warpdrive has been continuously improved so that mechs can use them. Mentioned in chapter 11.

MTC - Mind Transfer Chip - a chip that allows the transfer of one's consciousness into the virtual realm in emergency situations. This technology has existed for more than 2 million years, and has saved countless lives. Mentioned in chapter 14.

Modules - a complex tachyon structure that can be added to consoles which can have varying manipulation effects whether its the five fundamental forces of nature, elementary particles, molecules, atoms, etc. They can also generate things similar to the forces of nature like tornadoes, winds, etc. Aside from that, they are also used to upgrade consoles whether it is their scientific instruments, data storage, processing power, and many more. They have been around since consoles were first established and have only grown stronger. Mentioned in chapter 15.

Nanobots - a microscopic robot that was produced from a branch of science that focuses on nanotechnology over 2 million years ago. They are generally used by civilians, hospitals, research facilities, and the military. With automatic replication, they do not need to be replenished. Like a console, they accept modules and can use them for varying effects on the human body. It can gift the user superhuman strength, superhuman endurance, and be used for rapid regeneration. Mentioned in chapter 16.
