Version 2 Name: Orbweaver Type: Medium Spider-Shaped Artillary Platform Spirit: The Everchanger Offense: 4,5 Defense: 2 Mobility: 2 Utility: 1,5 The rise of the LMC can't be stopped both in the Red Ocean and the Yeina star cluster. As usual, when LMC expands into new markets it gets an influx of mech designers that think they can copy the work of Ves. Their attempts come with a pile of license money and with their failures the usual outcry soon ensures. Could Ves make a cockpit carrying the glow? Perhaps, but why would he give up on his monopoly? Could Ves make the final touches on different variants? Yes, but he has little time to spare. Is there some other way that LMC can profit from this without compremising there monoploy? Thinking over this question, Ves decided to cooperate with the skull architect to create the Orbweaver. The Orbweaver is a Medium Spider Shaped Artillery Platform designed for Commercial use and is mainly focused on working on land, but it can also function in space. The Orbweaver comes with two body parts the head and the abdomen. The head part houses the main parts of a mech and can function without the abdomen. The abdomen is a modular weapons platform that can be swapped depending on its deployment. What makes the Orbweaver special is because the main parts of the mech are located in the head and the Everchanger as the design spirit, the Orbweaver can preserve the glow remarkably well from designs of the modular abdomen from other designers. The Everchanger is also able to channel other spirits to some extent. The design for the Orbweaver comes with patterns that other designers can use to invoke different design spirits. For example, if they mech designer a want a missile focused mech they can use the Titania pattern to make the Everchanger channel her glow. Because weapons systems are integrated with the mech itself it counts as part of the mech, so every mech designer would have to buy the license and pay a license fee for each abdomen sold. The customer would, of course, need an original mech, to begin with, and LMC would also profit from that. The name Orbweaver comes from its arachnid nature and the net of modules that the design can accumudate. The cynical market scheme of making other designers part of the Orbweavers ecosystem is also a hidden part of the name.

ANNOUNCEMENT: SECOND MECH DESIGN SUBMISSION CONTEST! The Mech Touch is 4000 chapters old, and that means another contest! This time is another Mech Design Submission Contest, and the rules are similar to last time. Mech Design Rules Suggest any ORIGINAL second-class mech (no ripoffs from other books or shows!) that can be designed by the mech designers of the Larkinson Clan! You may submit a commercial mech, a commissioned mech or a Larkinson-exclusive mech. Make sure you mention the mech type and the design spirit as well. Look at the example I provided. Point System Just like previous contests, you must quantify the performance of your mech design by allocating 10 points in the following categories: Offense (?/10) Defense (?/10) Mobility (?/10) Utility (?/10) Your mech design description must match your point allocation. If not, your submission will be disqualified. The minimum point for a category is 0. 2 to 3 points is average. 4 is good. 5 is excellent. 6 is extreme. Submission Details This contest will run for 15 days from 18:00 CET, August 8, 2022 to 18:00 CET August 23, 2022. You can post 3 original mech design submissions at most. One at most can only be posted in the following places: -The comments of Chapter 3960 on Webnovel.com -The comments of Chapter 4002 on Webnovel.com -The #events-submission channel on The Mech Touch's Unofficial Discord server I will determine the winners on the Discord server at 21:00 CET August 23, 2022. I will select up to 5 winning submissions through selection and 1 submission by random lottery. Rules -Scores: Mech designs will be evaluated by me through numerical scores. If you are not satisfied with my scores, you can delete your original submissions and post a new or revised version if you want to gain a higher score. You can do this as many times as you want until the deadline. I will evaluate your submission with the following scoring criteria: Power: 1 to 10 Usefulness: 1 to 10 Personality: 0 to 50 Affordability: 1 to 10 Excess: 0 to -100 Mech submissions with the highest total score will have higher chances of winning this contest. -Technology: Do not add too much confusing or overpowering tech. If I cannot understand your descriptions, then I will disqualify your mech. Focus on the mech concept and value proposition rather than excessive technical data. -Length: Try and be concise while adding enough detail. If your submission is too short, it will be disqualified due to low effort. 500 words is sufficient. -PLAGIARISM: DO NOT PLAGIARIZE OTHER ANIMES, BOOKS, TV SHOWS OR MOVIES! ALSO DO NOT RIP OFF OTHER IMAGES FROM THE INTERNET! IF YOU CANNOT COME UP WITH SOMETHING ORIGINAL, DON'T BOTHER PARTICIPATING! Short Example of Mech Design Submission Name: Roarmaster Type: Landbound medium hybrid mech Design spirit: Zeigra Offense: 4 Defense: 2 Mobility: 3 Utility: 1 Description: The Roarmaster is a mech centered around weaponizing sound waves. Zeigra adds more aggression and ferocity to the mech, making it eager to release loud roars to prove its strength. It is equipped with large sound projectors that can transmit strong and loud directional sound waves that excel at bypassing armor and damaging mechs from the inside. The Roarmaster is also armed with a sword and shield to make it adequate in melee combat. It is relatively fast but cannot withstand too many attacks. Its sound projectors can also be used to transmit sound signals and disable human mobs.

Project Undying Partner Model Name: Variable Dullahan Type: Medium Modular Mech Platform Design spirit: Bravo/Qilanxo/Zeigra Offense: 2.5 Defense: 2.5 Mobility: 2.5 Utility: 2.5 Description: A commercial modular mech based on dullahans, has a balanced specification and is intended to be fielded in close to low-mids ranged combat. The Variable Dullahan has several Interesting properties that make it stand out. First, the customizability. The Variable Dullahan can change gears. It's not restricted in modification like other LMC mechs. Like a suit, the mech's armor and flight system are modular, it can be detached and fitted with other third parties gear that fit the combat environment better without any penalty to its glow/identity. This makes it a favorable mech for mercenaries and bounty hunters who work in diverse environments. Another feature is that the mech's head is actually a detachable drone with a built-in laser gun, mini energy shield, and sensors. While attached to the dullahan, it can use the mech energy to act as extra eyes and weapons. If needed, It could be detached and used temporarily as a scout or even a supply fetcher. The main ability of it though is that the head can attach to the ejected cockpit of the pilot, protecting it and escorting it to safety, thereby boosting the pilot's survival chance significantly. In terms of configuration, The Dullahan has three basic personality/variants. The Steady Dullahan comes with a sword & shield and has Qilanxo's glow. The Fierce Dullahan has Zeigra's glow and is armed with a sword and shotgun. Lastly, the Daring Dullahan is intended for the arena. It's equipped with a sword and pistol and uses Bravo's glow. The main intention of this mech is that Ves wanted to see living mechs get used by more people and see them grow stronger with their mech pilots. The problem though is the fact that mechs usually fall in battle while mech pilots survive. The Variable Dullahan is different, The head of it is linked to the body by spiritual means, as long as the head survives, it could be interfaced with a new body and retain the identity of itself (applies vice versa). This way, the Dullahan could stick with the pilot for a long time and become the perfect 'Undying partner' for them.

Mech Design Submission Name: Steadfast Soldier Type: Multipurpose Medium Infantry Variant, (bayonet + shield) Target Group: Primarily Commercial, Clan (extra design spirits) Design Spirit: Lucky, Bravo, Solemn Guardian, Zeigra, Xilanxo Specs Offense: 3 Defense: 4 Mobility: 2 Utility: 1 Possible Abilities: Phalanx Energy Shield Link Energy Sharing (to possible auxiliary mechs) Combined Bayonet Charge Description: Created due to a need for a clan rifleman mech, the Steadfast Soldier was initially created for internal clan use. However, reflecting upon the success of the Soldier Series in the home galaxy, it was decided that the project should be commercialized while also retaining clan exclusive models with increased design spirits. Inspired by human infantrymen of old Earth combined with a need for shielding, the Steadfast Soldier is equiped with arm mounted energy shield and a custom luminar rifle with detachable bayonet. Caple of acting as mobile fortfied gun formation or a stationary light fortress. Capable of closing the gap in vast battlefields of land and space when shields linked are linked together and charging the enemy at closer ranges. Each formation induces a different design Spirit to assist in battle. While stationary or defending the Solemn Guardian holds the line or soldiers together while also maintaining morale. When advancing and charging Bravo and Zeigra are induced to inspire the soldiers and Zeigra to strike fear into the enemies. In clan exclusive models, Xilanxo and Lucky are integrated to assist in the utilization of the special ability "Phalanx Energy Shield Link", creating a unified shield and creating an environment to able to work together efficiently, respectively. The Steadfast Soldier can be utilized on both land and space to create fortfied positions, advancing parties and applied to close combat applications in an initial clash. A great option for a general purpose medium mech which can be wielded by even low ranking mech pilots due to its simple function, characterized by 3 main roles stationary rifleman, shielded fortification and infantry bayonet charge. Each with specialized supporting design spirits. Should the third class market be interested, the energy shield can be replaced with a standard third class alloy shield. Thank you for creating one of the greatest sci-fi novels to date.

Aurora Shieldforger Offense: 0 Defense: 6 Mobility: 2 Utility: 2 Description: The Shieldforger is a heartland level defensive heavy knight mech. With Qilanxo as the design spirit, it is a mech aimed at coordinating with the Shield of Samar in a Qilanxo-oriented battle network and battle formation. This battle formation manifests a huge space shield just like how Qilanxo could when she was alive. This Battle Network ability overlaps with Jannzi's space shield resonance ability, producing a sum greater than its parts. The core motivation of this mech was to harness the power of battle formation defensively. Every single battle formation of the Larkinson clan was entirely offensive in nature. This battle formation on the other hand, was extremely useful defensively in space battles. In space battles, the battles usually began from a great distance away with long range artillery mechs. A Shieldforger battalion in coordination with the Shield of Samar could provide valuable defense against enemy onslaught. This mech significantly reduced casualties from artillery fire, giving the Larkinson Clan a crucial advantage early on in the battle

do you guys think Ves will pump Aurelia up with attribute candies when she starts school? the system has been offline long enough that it should be back up soon™.I hope he pumps her to max 2.0 intelligence as soon as possible as that would be pretty funny having a fully cognizant 5 yrs old running around. If he does pump her up would she be able to break through the 2.0 barrier naturally with the help of the designer genes or would that damage the designer genes.

IT'S NOT A MECH Project name : Larkinson Heart chosen name : LC-001 design spirit : Everchanger type : cockpit ______________ the key of ves larkinson advance is design spirit it have been there since balckbird so he have to find a way to make the spirit advance and one thing for sure is the abudance of spirit either for special attack and it's growth. like how everchanger can use diffrent spirit to use they special attack, everchanger can also be a hub to connect spiritual that it harvest from mech pilot and give it to acording spirit. larkinson heart is a cockpit that have exactly like everchanger that can channel a "vervied" design spirit but just 30%, since it was a tech so a fabricating it should do able to a novice mech designer. and since coustumer just got a bit of the taste they will search for a better one "the mech larkinson has already made" so even it was not a mech it can bloom the name of larkinson, and since it was made by ves and excpected gloria is also included the cockpit will give the best expirience for the mech pilot. verivied deaign spirit is the one that ves allowed to channel to the larkinson heart

Name: Swarm Soldier V2 Type : Land Bound Medium Cyborg Drone Mech. Design Spirit: Titania. Offense: 4 Defense: 3 Mobility: 2 Utility: 1 Description: The swarm soldier is a mech designed to work with low neural aptitude pilots by using drones grown by the mech to battle instead of the mech itself. When the drones are destroyed they can detonate causing moderate damage. It is faster and cheaper to make than a pure biomech. The design spirit and mech are able to lesson the load on the mech pilot by exercising limited control of the drones. The more alive the mech grows the more support it can provide. The drones are designed to be controlled through a spiritual connection to make them unhackable. The swarm soldier is equipped with a shotgun to protect itself against mechs that approach its position, but has limited defenses and mobility to escape. In their initial state the drones individually have weak firepower and can only inflict significant damage by working in unison to attack from all directions and target weak spots. However Ves has combined the concepts of blackbeak and devil tiger to make a mech that not only spiritually, but physically grows along with the mech pilot. With the help of Gloriana Ves designs a system in which every time the mech is regrown and repaired, it subtly changes to become a more “perfect” match to the mech pilot. Over time the drones become more personalized and can develop drastically different directions like incendiary drones or stealth drones etc. The mech has a limited ability to consume biomass from alien beasts or plants to supplement this growth. Those that develop a strong connection to the mech can access a lesser form of spiritual networks to pool the minds of several mech pilots in a hive mind that allows them to coordinate their swarms almost like a mini mech army.

Gloriana seems to be really dismissive of the Larkinsons. She keeps saying she wants her baby to be the next leader.... but all her educational plans would make Aurila a perfect diplomatic envoy or assistant instead! Nothing about learning the practical realities of ship life or ship people. Nothing about memorizing the strength and weaknesses of the people she will be "leading". No... the actual important stuff to learn is the "higher ups" in society so her baby can properly suck up to them in the future!

Project Name: Shipwrecker Production Designation: Iron Thunder Design Spirit: Solemn Guardian Mech Type: "Budget" Heavy Cannoneer Offense: 6 Defense: 2 Mobility: 1 Utility: 1 Framing: Having learned just how difficult it is to combat starships and massive exobeasts with mech weapons, one of the lead designers comes up with a concept to deliver the biggest possible gun at a price where most organizations can afford it. The mech is an exercise in both optimizing a singular aspect of a design and fitting budget constraints, with a bit of Larkison glow magic to make a comparatively flimsy heavy mech work when it isn't exclusively used inside bunkers. The Iron Thunder is designed as a squat, compact shape that can be stored with relative ease, with most of the movement system built around compensaring for the recoil of its main armament. Unlike a pure bunker mech, it uses an anemic flight system to leave the hangar and clamp into place on the hull, where it can move somewhat faster by shifting the polarization of its magnetic clamps. All this is in service of the powerful railgun it carries, seperated into two blocks when not in use. The breech block is integrated in the torso, making it somewhat similar to a frontline mech and easier to operate. The railgun ammunition is large enough to carry some tracking features, making the inclusion of Ylvaine redundant. Instead, the danger and risk of operating this mech out in the open against a starship that can easily smash any mech made the Solemn Guardian the best choice to keep up morale and firing discipline. Due to not being a bunker mech, the Iron Thunder provides Additional firepower against overwhelming oponents and has the ability to move behind the curvature of the ship to shelter from retribution. To protect from secondary weapons and preserve some usefulness in battles between humans, the Iron Thunder carries a decent but unremarkable armor system. Its best protection is the simplicity of its design, where most moving parts are recoil compensators. This also reduces the cost, making it affordable by the standards of heartland second-class heavy mechs.

Project Name: Zealous Preacher Chosen Name: Shepherd Dog Design Spirits: Ylvaine + Lufa Mech Type: 3-modular landbound Lightmech Offense: 3 Defense: 0 Mobility: 5 Utility: 2 Ylvaine struggles with his input of spirit energy. The Eye of Ylvaine lobbys Ves to make a commercial missionary mech. Eventually Ves gives in … or rather he had a great idea to use that chance for an experiment. What better test subjects are there? *cough* people searching for a solution in religion. Project zealous preacher is a large-scale T institute experiment to see what breakthrough chance increase Lufa offers if he attaches all his aspects including the transcendent aspect. Ves searching for a challenge and a trend of rapid paced skirmishes contending ressources on planets lead him eventually to the 3-modular lightweight mech. Although he wanted to have 4 possible variants, the flight modul variant wasn‘t feasible due to energy consumption. That leaves the skirmisher (two daggers), the spearman and the sniper (kinetic weapon). To stay within budget the actual difference between the variants is minimal. Defence is absolutely low even for the lightweight class. Maximized is agility and muscle force: letting the sniper to carry an actual heavy gun; and giving the spearman and skirmisher enough thrust force to penetrate joint sections. Common motto is a gimmick: they each have 3 explosive javelins on their back. Either to stab or throw them at critical sections (Ylvaines Guidance). This is the killer move of the Shepherd Hound. The mech design works only due to its design spirit: Ves had the epiphany that Ylvaines precognition can not only be used as a targeting system (punisher and lancer) but as a 6th sense / danger evasion alarm system. No defense all evasion. A true zealous melee mech pilot will fall into an instinctive mediative state where the danger alarm system is shown at its max potential. (Maybe help from Lufa in the tranquility aspect) The glow has small utility: a holy aura that we are used to - but different to new people. Slowly they are guided and mellowed to Ylvaine faith and pursuit of transcendence.

“The Iron hunt” mech (Larkinsons, heavensworder’s military) Light-medium to heavy-medium land/space born mech. Design spirit Zeigra, titania Offense 1-3 Defense 2-4 Mobility 1-3 Utility 1.5 The iron hunt mech is an unusual mech nano machine mech fusing the concepts of the bright warrior line and the Chiron line made to address the issue of fielding heavensworder’s their own mechs without designing dozens of wholly different mechs just to fit the many sword styles they use and allow the design department to make other mechs of other needs without wasting time and causing heavensworder’s to only be swordsman mechs of a certain sword styles instead of a diverse mech synergy needed in a mech army. This mech is a proof of concept of Gloriana and Ketis creating mass production “ custom mechs” by Making a modular swordsman that can change to different swordsman mech types from a fencer to a great sword user that can adjust/ mimic partially the body type and sword style of the user using nanotechnology instead of memory alloy allowing the many swords styles of the heavensworder’s to come into play. All iron hunt weapons are grooved in a way to allow nano machines to fill inside to allow attacks to become “corrosive” and all iron hunt mechs can sacrifice nano machine armor and flesh to allow more “ammo” for their corrosion strikes. The fusion of Titania and Zeigra’s glow allows iron hunt mech nano machines to better break down material in combat and allowing the nanotechnology to become “smarter” as part of the living mechs ”flesh” and has much greater redundancy then most normal mechs becoming harder to incapacitate without mech pilot ejection.

Name: Phantasmal Legend Type: Medium Spaceborne Hero Mech, Commercial Design Spirit: Bravo, Arnold Offence: 3.5 Defence: 1.5 Mobility: 4 Utility: 1 Description: A hero mech is meant to live up to its name and serve as a symbol of inspiration, a rallying point on the battlefield. This was something that Ves realized with the Everchanger, but a single unique mech cannot prove a rule. How far then could a regular mech go? Bravo provides the main glow for the Phantasmal Legend, a role he takes to with enthusiasm given Vincent’s goal of being a hero. The mech exudes a sense of sheer presence and grabs attention in a way that makes it seem larger than life (Vincent: “A man among men!”). For allies this makes the Phantasmal Legend serve as a natural flag bearer. For enemies this just makes them want to shoot it down even more. It is possible to temporarily amp this glow up to expand its range and power to serve as a morale booster for allies or a distraction to enemies. But although Bravo may serve as the “face” of the Phantasmal Legend another design spirit is required to make the mech truly powerful, the unconventional choice of Arnold. Arnold’s previous mechs fit a more stealthy style of sneaking and avoiding danger, but Ves considers that expanding his repertoire might be good for Arnold’s further growth. A mech like the Phantasmal Legend that purposefully seeks attention on the battlefield is as distinct from Arnold’s comfort zone as possible. Despite being expected to attract heavy fire the defences of the Legend are relatively thin. Instead it relies on exceptional agility to evade attacks. Its top speed is respectable, but its instant acceleration and short distance bursts of movement are what really make its mobility stand out. It is also here that Arnold’s first contribution comes in, his increased sensitivity towards potential threats. While in the Devious this was used to completely avoid danger as a spy mech, here threat sensitivity is refined to provide momentary advance warning when needed to dodge, providing a boost to the pilot’s reflexes. Similar to the repurposing of his danger sense, Arnold’s cloning ability is also brought into play here for an offensive purpose, forming the key “Phantasm” ability of the Phantasmal Legend. With the Devious the illusionary clones were convincing and long lasting enough to make an enemy follow them away from the true mech. The Legend’s Phantasms, while still very convincing, do not last very long or go far. Its Phantasms often overlap directly with the main mech or only move a couple of paces away at most. While this sounds underwhelming each Phantasm takes slightly different actions, making reacting to the true action of the mech difficult. When the Phantasmal Legend appears to be moving left and right simultaneously which way do you shoot? Its mobility is enough that you’ll miss if you don’t lead the shot. When multiple guns are pointing all around you which direction do you dodge? In melee, do you try and deflect the sword coming at you from your right or your left? When the Legend seemingly splits in two with one charging while the other backs up for a shot, which image do you try and react to? In the right hands, the Phantasmal Legend becomes a monster of a mech that most opponents cannot dodge or hit. The cherry on top of the Phantasmal Legend is its cape, since what hero lacks a cape? Similar to the Marcus Aurelius, the Legend uses a particle generator instead of a physical cape. While its Bravo amplified resplendent cape adds to its presence, it also hides a couple additional features. The cape billows with every movement, obscuring the mech’s actions further. Dispersed alongside the particles are also scanner scattering chaff to distort readings. The high skill floor to operate the Phantasmal Legend unfortunately limits its pilot base. But the mech’s sheer potential performance with a skilled pilot is enough to leave a Legend, effectively advertising for the LMC.
