Arata was caught off guard. The woman in front of him was quite intimidating. She was wearing grey armor that hugged her body tightly, it was very clear she had a well proportioned body. She had blonde hair, similar to Oishi's hair, which flowed down her head. But her face was what surprised Arata. Although it was clear that her face was beautiful, it was tarnished by a scar that went down her right eye and over her lip. Clearly a sword slash. Her eyes were full of anger and pierced Arata, scaring him a little.
She angrily looked at Arata.
"What are you deaf or dumb? I asked you a question. Who the hell are you?"
Arata snapped back to reality and was pissed. Who does this woman think she is?
Before he could lash out, Oishi put his hand in front of him, cutting him off.
"Aunty Raikou, it is so good to see you. This is a junior of mine and it's his first day. I was told to show him around and bring him to his first class. I apologize for bringing him so late. That is purely my fault."
As Oishi bowed and apologized to the terrifying woman, Arata looked at the lady. This is Oishi's Aunty? But their personalities are so different.
The teacher looked over Oishi and hit him hard on the back of the head as he was mid bow. His face plummeted down into the ground leaving a crack in the floor.
"You think that makes what happened yesterday alright? I heard that you lost your room. Have you no dignity? Are you unable to hold up our families' name? Losing to some new kid like you were a nobody? Does the Takuma name mean nothing to you?"
Oishi got up slowly, his nose was bleeding and his cheeks had gone a little red. He embarrassedly got up and scratched his head.
"Um actually Aunty....about that...the new kid I brought to you...."
The teacher's eyes snapped back to Arata as realization hit her. Arata felt that there was energy manifesting in her eyes. He knew she was going to use some kind of visual power. So he activated his own.
The Sixth Sempiternal Art: Shadow Awareness.
Shadow Awareness was a powerful visual Sacred Art that Arata learnt from his father. The Sixth Sempiternal Art was used by channelling the Shadow Realm and its power through one's eyes. As there was the speed of light, darkness travelled at an incredible speed as well, thus the Shadow Realm existed on another wavelength and frequency, and when channelled properly, it could increase the speed the user sees and processes things, it could be used to see things which were hidden.
It could also be used as a visual attack or barrier. Defensively, it could cast a Shadow Barrier over energy, preventing it from coming to light, effectively keeping the power hidden in the shadows.
Arata could see the energy that the teacher was emitting and was about to release. As he blinked, his right eye had changed color. It was the opposite of his left eye. The white in his eye had turned black and his dark pupil had turned white. Seeing this, the teacher widened her eyes as she realized that she couldn't release her energy, but it was still building up in her eyes. There seemed to be some powerful force that was containing her power within her eye, restricting it from leaving her. She stopped charging the power and forced the power back with a lot of effort.
She breathed a little heavier, but not enough for anyone to realize. She had been in trouble. If she didn't reverse her power, it would've overwhelmed and exploded out of her, backfiring.
No one noticed any of this happening; even Oishi believed that Arata was going to get beaten up by his Aunt based on the look on her face. Only Arata knew what had happened. And only he knew she wouldn't act. Or rather she tried and failed, but she wouldn't reveal that information in front of everybody. He blinked and his eyes had gone back to normal. The teacher stared curiously at him.
"Name."
Arata chuckled inside at how she still wanted to act proud. High and mighty to a child she had lost against. But she was Oishi's Aunty so he wouldn't embarrass her in front of her class. She would be his teacher soon as well so he did his best to behave. But his best wasn't all that great either.
"Arata. 11 years old."
Oishi looked at Arata. He noticed that Arata didn't say his last name. Arata just gave him a look and Oishi nodded. Clearly he didn't want it to be known yet who his father was, so Oishi left it alone.
"Sit down. And you. Train harder; don't tarnish the family name more than you already have. Get to class."
Oishi bowed and ran away as fast as he could. Arata just watched him leave.
'Thanks for ditching me with your crazy Aunt."
Arata sighed and walked in. The classroom had a stage that took up most of the room with a podium and a board at the front. Then there were rows of tables and chairs, each row slightly more elevated as they went back so the people in the back could see over those in the front.
Arata noticed that there were a lot of open seats. The class wasn't even half full. He saw an open seat in the back and was about to walk to it when the teacher stopped him.
"Introduce yourself to the class."
Arata disliked being the centre of attention, but he was trained by his father for these things. How to act like a noble. His arrogant demeanour returned as he sneered at the class.
"My name is Arata. That is all you need to know."
He then turned and walked to the seat in the back. As he walked up the steps to the desk, the students all eyed him out. They disliked his arrogant nature and tone. It especially displeased those of noble background, to them, this kid wasn't on their level and yet he was this cocky.
Arata found his seat, but before he could sit down a young female student at the front stood up.
"Teacher Takuma. This new student has no respect for Teacher or his fellow students. He does not even give his full name and title. He should be punished and shown some manners."
Arata looked at the young girl who called him out. She had long black hair that was straight and smooth. Even though she had a scowl on her face, Arata had to admit that she was a real beauty. Probably a pretty popular girl in the school. The rest of the class nodded and voiced their agreement to her statement. Arata sat down and spoke up.
"If you are able to make me say my name and title, I will oblige."
The young girl who had stood up glared at Arata before speaking up.
"Teacher Takuma. As Class 7's Representative, I request a disciplinary match with Arata. For educational purposes."
Teacher Takuma smiled. Although she was shocked by whatever Arata had used to block her visual attack, she was confident in her students. Even though he beat Oishi, who was a well known talent in the school, which showed his strength. The truth was that anyone in Class 7 could beat him.
Class 7 were a collection of kids with freakish abilities. If they were not up to scratch, Teacher Takuma would kick them out, sometimes even expel them. Many nobles tried to use their influence to get them into her class, but she repeatedly declined. Only through certain circumstances did someone have enough power and pull to get their kids into her class and she disliked those students if they didn't meet her criteria.
Arata was one such student. She disliked that the school went over her to put this kid in her class. Although he seemed to have talent, she doubted he would be up to par with her class. She looked at the Class Representative. Having a class with these high standards, the Class Representative would need to be extraordinarily incredible to be the student who would represent the entire class. And she was exactly that. The Class Representative had character, leadership, brains and power. She was also from one of the top Clan's in the Kingdom, so she was a natural fit as the Class Representative for this class of monsters.
Teacher Takuma grinned devilishly as she looked at the Class Representative, confident in her power and abilities, and nodded. She made a gesture to some of the other students on the side.
Two students came up and removed the board and the podium from the stage. The Class Representative stood on the stage and Teacher Takuma took a seat. The student pointed at Arata gesturing him to come down. Arata now understood the reason for the abnormally large stage. It was for fighting.
Arata sighed as he got up and walked down. As he got up on the stage, the Class Representative bowed.
"Akari Ise. 11 years old. Daughter of Akimitsu Ise, the Angel of Light. Heir to the Ise Clan."
Arata was stunned. The Angel of Light? Well that kinda explains things. Arata had guessed that this class was far from normal, just based on the classroom, the teacher and the energy he could feel from the students. And the fact that there were so few meant that this was a selective class. And yet this pretty young girl was the Class Representative. He was wondering why, but now he knew.
The class all saw Arata's stunned expression and smirked. They knew that being up against the daughter of the Angel of Light, anyone would be scared. Who didn't know the incredible strength of the Angel of Light and the overwhelming power of the Ise Clan? They were enjoying the shock on his face and they were all looking forward to Akari destroying this cocky little punk.
But then Arata laughed out loud to everyone's surprise.
"My statement remains the same. If you can make me, I'll give you my name and title. Knowing that you are Uncle Aki's daughter means I'll need to take you seriously. I'll have to ask you to apologize to the old man for me in advance."
Now it was Akari's turn to be stunned. How can he talk so casually about her father? And he called him "Uncle Aki". Did he really know her father or was it a bluff?
Either way, he was still too disrespectful for her liking. He surprised the room, however, as he bowed to her.
"I am Arata. Please advise me."
They both got into fighting stances and eyed each other out. Teacher Takuma spoke softly.
"Begin."
Akari leaped forward in a straight dash. Arata stood there smiling.
"Let's dance."
