Hunt Event (2)

Jun Hua guided Lin Kang to the spot where Soujin and Yan were waiting. They glanced at the small boy behind Jun Hua, who seemed so fragile as if he could break apart at any moment.

"This is?"

"Lin Kang, my sister second brother," Jun Hua answered. "On this first day of the hunt, he will accompany me in hunting."

Soujin stared at the two of them intently for a while then said, "Be careful."

"Of course."

Yan looked disappointed. "Let's hunt together tomorrow, then."

"Alright."

After making some assurances, they all made their separate ways.

Jun Hua glanced at Lin Kang. "Your brother will probably try to kill you today."

"Ah? You're going to protect me?"

Jun Hua smiled. "My sister has made the promise, right?"

Lin Kang eyed Jun Hua suspiciously. There shouldn't be any way for Jun Hua and Jun Min to meet since Jun Min didn't visit his sister in the academy. Maybe they have other methods of communicating?

Jun Hua smiled. "You're going to be alright."

Hearing those words from someone whose built was not much different from his tiny body would usually make the other party scorn the one who said them. But since the person who said them was Jun Min, Lin Kan fully believed the other party. If there was someone stronger than him, there were only a few people and most of them are veteran general.

Jun Hua was about to talk more when she heard the eunuch's announcement.

"Young Noble Han's representative has arrived."

Jun Hua raised her head towards the entrance and she saw a young man dressed in normal clothes. His face was handsome and he had a tall body. He was walking at a leisurely pace.

Seeing the man, Jun Hua's eyes twitched and she hastily looked away. A sense of familiarity dawned on her.

When the other people were busy fawning over that man, Jun Hua decided to mount her horse and readied herself. Lin Kang stared at her in confusion. Even his father tried to get close with that person, why didn't Jun Min do the same?

Jun Hua looked back at the boy. Seeing his confused gaze, she sighed and said, "There are things you do not need to know."

As Jun Hua said that, she gestured Yasha to help Lin Kang mount the horse with him. They were allowed to bring servants inside, but only one servant per invitee. Thus, Jun Hua decided to bring Yasha, as he was one of her guards with higher skills. His usual task was to protect the border with her uncle, but this time she recalled him from his post.

Soujin and Yan watched over the situation calmly. Among the nobles who were present there, only a few people didn't have any intention of getting close to that Young Noble Han's representative.

Yan looked towards Jun Hua. "It seems he knows about it."

"Yes, he does."

"Anyway, Soujin do you want to make a bet? Who among us can hunt the most?" Yan challenged.

"No need."

"Why? You're willing to make a bet with Jun Min before."

"Because I already know the result."

"What is the result?" Yan had a bad feeling.

"You're going to lose."

Yan stared at his friend helplessly. I know you're capable, but do you need to always brag shamelessly? Even before they start, Yan already felt defeated.

The commotion made by the arrival of Representative Han soon died down because the emperor had arrived. The emperor looked at the representative before nodding his head.

"Would Young Noble Han not come?"

The representative smiled. "He is quite busy."

Inside the minds of the few people who knew the real identity of Young Noble Han: 'That's a lie! He's standing here with us!'

The emperor nodded. "Do you mind hunting with me, then?"

The representative smiled. "It will be my honor."

"What should I call you?"

"Just call me Representative Han."

From far away, Jun Hua wanted to kick that emperor for not realizing who the person standing before him was. She didn't say anything though, as she waited for the emperor's signal to start the hunt. She had never hunted before, but it shouldn't be hard for her.

"Can you mount the horse by yourself?" Jun Hua preferred to have Yasha hide in the dark but there's no way she would let Lin Kang ride on his own if he can't.

As expected, Lin Kang shook his head.

"Don't stay far away from me, then."

Jun Hua led Lin Kang to the forest and as she rode the horse, she could faintly detect the people who also started to enter the forest. There were only a few people near the trio and Jun Hua ignored them as she focused on one person, Lin Hong.

She approached the river with high speed. Yasha handled the horse well, but Lin Kang's face was already very pale. He had never ridden a horse before and this speed made him feel very nauseous. They stopped before the river where Lin Kang started throwing up.

"Sorry about that speed, but I need to make some preparations here," Jun Hua indicated for Yasha to move out. The man disappeared in an instant leaving Lin Kang staring with mouth wide open.

"H-he just disappeared?" Lin Kang stuttered.

Jun Hua laughed. "Don't mind it. It's the basic skill you need to become an excellent guard. Now it's time to hunt a few beasts."

When Jun Hua finished speaking, Lin Kang turned his head only to see a few wolves standing near them, ready to attack them. He almost fainted from fear, if not for Jun Hua who was still smiling calmly and took out her sword. She was standing between him and the wolves. In a split second, Jun Hua moved and slashed mercilessly at one wolf. She moved around and another one was killed swiftly.

Lin Kang watched the scene with wide eyes. He had never thought that the slender boy in front of him would actually turn out to be so powerful. A few wolves were nothing to him as he killed them all in ease. After everything was done, Jun Hua's sword was drenched with blood, yet there was not even a trace on his clothes.

"Do not be that surprised, Lin Kang. This is nothing," Jun Hua smiled. To her a couple of wolves were nothing, but if the number exceeded ten, she would have a hard time protecting the boy. There were only four wolves, but the boy already looked like he was seeing a ghost.

"What is it? Don't tell me that a few wolves have scared you?"

Lin Kang shook his head. "It's not about the wolves, but you're really amazing Young General Jun."

"Thanks," Jun Hua smiled. She was about to tie up the wolves' corpse when her eyes turned sharp. She looked at the boy behind her. "Hide behind me."

Suddenly a group of men appeared before them. Lin Kang was completely scared by the sudden appearance of these men that he didn't dare to move.

"I never thought that you would be thinking so highly of me. To actually send seven first-grade assassins," Jun Hua lips curved up.

The assassins were all surprised to see Jun Hua still staying calm even in front of them. They were highly skilled, but to think that a mere child could discover them was indeed bewildering. It seems the reputation of Jun Min was accurate.

Jun Hua was about to move when she sensed an arrow aiming at Lin Kang. The seven assassins also moved at the same time. Jun Hua knew what happened, but she still kept her calm. That Lin Hong sure could pick the timing.
