All of them died but was sent to a dark space or void. Anyway, they met God and the creator in there and god was surprised to meet another human other than John. But it looks like the creator/author expected their arrival.
"John, are they your friends?"
"Yes. I hope you don't mind."

"So what brings you here? Did you die again?"
"Yes and this is the 100th time already."

"I'm physically 18 but mentally 118."

John gives Harry the recipe for the cure.
