2 Awakening

The adolescent male looked by his side and followed this trail of voice, and to his surprise he didn't see a human figure, but rather a floating pile of black scales that were about 2-3 meters long.

He blinked a few times and noticed that this 'object' was hovering above him and moving in a smooth random manner across the small space.

He didn't pay attention to this strange flying object any longer and reflexively tried to move his body into a sitting position on top of the stone bed, but he realized that he was unable to move a single muscle.

His body was fragile and weak, and it seemed like he had not moved in a long time.

["You have slept for years on that stone bed while your body had entirely shut down, but your overall state has been recovering slowly over time… Give it some time and your body will start up again."]

The adolescent male was pondering on what to do before he heard the deep and hoarse voice again. He was able to make out a few of its words, but he confirmed that it was definitely coming from the floating black scales that were still moving in a roundabout manner above him.

The adolescent male relaxed his body and closed his eyes to recollect any sort of memory he had… shortly after he remembered that his name was Noctis…

Noctis Highwind.

He tried to recall more of his past, but just as he was about to recall any sort of memories related to his name, he was interrupted by a loud voice within him that had a frivolous tone,

"Oh! Hey kid, I forgot that I could speed up your recovering process the moment you woke up. Don't blame this old one for such a small matter in the future hahaha…"

Noctis didn't know how to react and was at a loss… he had no idea what was going on and he still couldn't move his body at all.

To make matters worse, he had heard two complete strange voices that he was unfamiliar with in succession, so he was starting to think that he was somewhat hallucinating or that he was subject to some kind of sick experiment.

In the midst of his pitiful self-reflection, his body actually started to improve at a fast and noticeable rate.

Noctis was quite amazed that the voice within him didn't actually lie and that he was soon able to move his body. He thought to himself that these two 'entities' that belonged to the two voices he heard weren't his enemies at least.

He tried to recall his memories as before, but was suddenly interrupted again by the voice within him,

"Hahaha… you should be able to move your body now kid, so get up! It's time to leave this old crappy cave behind and explore the greater outside world! Conquer beautiful women and make everyone grovel beneath your feet on your path to the strongest! What are you waiting for!? Move along! I'm afraid that if I have to spend another second in here, I'm gonna – "

["Calm down! Let the boy have a moment to think and recollect himself. We have discussed this matter before already, don't tell me you forgot our agreement!?"]

Noctis slowly brought his upper body up and sat on the stone bed. He was just about to rebuke the voice within him, but the hoarse voice that came from the floating black scales was already a step ahead of him.

"Strange… he can hear that voice? I'm pretty sure that it's coming from my head." Noctis thought to himself, as he coldly stared at the floating black scales that were still constantly moving above the stone bed.

"Alright fine! You're lucky that I, this old venerable, has turned into a spirit and can't leave from this damned object to deal with you myself! Hmph, since we've been here for a while, I'm sure waiting a little more won't kill me. Not that it matters, I'm practically already dead! Damn my life and curse the heavens!... I will spare you a few moments kid, and don't come begging me for more time once I come back!"

The voice within him became silent and it seemed like it had temporarily cut off the spiritual sense between the both of them.

Noctis realized this and helplessly breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't dare to imagine what his life would be like in the future with this annoying voice being inside him.

Due to the fact that he was finally in a sitting position, he was finally able to get a closer look at these floating black scales.

He realized that at the front of these black scales was a protruding head shape of a dragon with a small mouth and two red eyes that seemed like it belonged to two red gems. They were as if two bright embers that had been carved out of a precious material.

On top of the head were two medium-sized horns that pointed in a bent-angle forward and were also made up of black scales.

Upon further observation, Noctis had concluded that the head shape overall was actually also made up of a large and prominent black scale. The rest of its 'body' were also black scales of varying shapes and sizes, but leading up to the 'tail,' the black scales became much smaller in size.

The tail was strangely not long at all, but rather it was a short and pointy black scale that was shining in an unusual manner.

Although Noctis had yet to recover all of his memories, he definitely had never seen such a thing like this before.

["Interested? Hmm… It's best to not focus on me too much or it'll bring about some unfortunate things. Try to remember your past and then we can talk."]

The floating dragon scales had noticed Noctis's eyes being glued onto his body and had called him out for it in a seemingly concerning tone.

"Alright…"

Noctis replied and didn't think much about this matter for long, because he soon closed his eyes and went back to trying to recall everything that had happened to him before he got to this point…
