32 Unexpected Events... Tragedy into Willpower!

The exam was finally over. We all passed except Bakugo, Todoroki, and Inasa. I walked out of the stadium with my Provisional Hero License, and I couldn't be more excited!

"Hey, Mr. Aizawa, do you think I could head home and show my parents?" I asked.

"As long as you're back at the dorms before midnight, feel free." He agreed.

Mr. Aizawa had Ms. Joke drive me back to my house.

"Congrats kid! I bet you're feeling pretty "heroic" right now!" She laughed.

"Thank you, I can't wait to show my parents!" I laughed as well.

I was super excited, I'm finally able to use my quirk to protect others! Well, almost. But I couldn't wait to show my mom and dad! I looked out of the window and saw something though; it was a massive mob of people in front of something. Even a news helicopter was there.

"Hey, Ms. Joke, pull over, let's check that out!" I exclaimed.

We got out of the car and headed towards the scene.

"Oh man, he's dead? This isn't good. Wasn't he from America?" I heard someone say.

Wait, what? Did that lady say "America?" I pushed through the crowd to see what was going on in the front. I finally got to the front of the crowd and... I... I... It wasn't real. I felt time slow down, and everything went silent. It couldn't be...

"D-Dad? Dad!" I shouted.

I ran towards him, I felt tears flowing down my face. I fell towards him, it... it was him.

"D-Dad... N-No... NO!!" I sobbed.

I couldn't stop crying, why wasn't I here to help him? Who would do this? I felt someone wrap their arms around me.

Through my tears, I managed to say, "W-Who... D-Did T-T-This...?"

I looked up and saw Annie, who was crying too.

"We tried, Alyx, we did..." She sniffled.

I clenched my fist and punched the ground. I promise, Dad, I'll find whoever did this, and I'll put him down, for you!

"I swear, Father. I-I... I'll find whoever did this..." I muttered.

Ms. Joke came up to Annie and me. She hugged both of us. None of us said another word, what could we even say? Annie took me back home to see Mom. Liz was trying to comfort her while bawling her eyes out with her. I stayed with them for a few hours before I decided to head back to the dorms. I walked by myself, alone with all of my thoughts, I honestly felt like blaming myself for not being there. I could've saved him...

[Several Hours Later...]

It was about midnight when I got back to the dorms. I was hoping that everyone was asleep so that I didn't have to bother them. But to my dismay, they weren't.

"Hey Leonidus-san, what took you so long, man?" Kirishima wondered.

"Yeah! We just got finished with Monopoly! Wanna join?" Uraraka added.

I looked at them, I was trying not to break down in front of everyone, but it was difficult not to.

"Leonidus-kun? Is everything okay?" I heard Jiro ask.

I couldn't hold it in any longer, I let it all out, but I turned around and smiled at them with a thumbs up.

"I-I'm fine, t-trust me... Please...." I bawled.

Everyone came over to me, they were all visibly concerned.

"What's wrong Leonidus-kun? What happened?" Ojiro questioned.

I fell to my knees, I told them everything that happened. As I was sitting on the couch, Deku ran downstairs.

"Leonidus-san! Are you alright! I just got an alert on my phone that-" He stopped, "O-Oh..."

I looked up at him through my tears.

Kirishima was trying to comfort me, "Hey man, it'll all be okay. They'll find out whoever did this! I promise!"

Kirishima put one of his arms around me. I wiped the tears out of my eyes and looked at him.

"T-Thanks... Kiri..." I sniffled.

Momo sat down some tea down in front of me, "I know it's not much, but lavender tea usually helps settle me down. We can stay up with you for as long as you'd like, Alyx."

[2 Hours Later...]

I couldn't sleep at all. I was out on my balcony all night. The same question plagued my mind; Who in the hell killed my Father? I decided to take a walk outside, albeit I'd get in trouble normally, I would think Mr. Aizawa would understand. I sat on a hill overlooking the town.

"Hey, what brings you here?" Someone asked.

I looked behind me and saw two people, both were wearing what seemed like old style traditional Japanese clothing. Kimonos I they're called? They both sat down next to me.

"You look down, what seems to be the matter?" The man wondered.

I felt a very kind and warm feeling from him.

"Well, I... My father was killed today by a villain." I told them.

"Oh, my..." He softly spoke.

I looked down, and the woman he was with came over to me and put her hand on my head. She was staring at me, not saying a word. The man smiled at me, which gave me a warm feeling I've never felt before. That man was wearing a green and black checkered kimono. He had some scar on the top left side of his forehead. The woman had some sort of bamboo thing in her mouth, her hair was a lighter brown on the ends. As he continued to smile at me, I felt... Better. The warm feeling the man's smile gave me made me feel as if everything was alright.

"Alyx, Your father would be proud of you. Everything you've done so far... And everything you'll do in the future; he'll be with you every step of the way." The man consoled.

I looked up at him, "Thank you, you don't know how much this means to me."

He smiled at me and walked past me.

"Wait, who-" I tried to ask.

I looked back and noticed that they were gone. I looked down on my lap and noticed one of the earrings that the man was wearing was sitting there. I felt a tear roll down my face, whoever they were, it was like my Father sent them to me, almost like a messenger, to keep me going. I looked back up towards the sky and noticed three brightly shining stars that weren't there before, all next to each other. I wiped the tears from my face, and got back up, smiling.

"Right, keep going? I think I get it now, thank you... Father!" I said to myself.

I headed back to the dorms and stopped in front of the doors. I slowly opened the doors and shut them quietly. I went upstairs into my room and pulled one of those internship papers I got from the Sports Festival. One of the people that were interested in me was the pro hero, Rabbit Hero: Mirko. Although it was 1 in the morning, I decided to contact her to tell her that I was interested. Maybe she could help me track down whoever killed my Dad?

"Heya, who is this?" She answered.

I'm surprised she was still awake, maybe she was out on patrol?

"This is Alyx Leonidus, from U.A. High, I just wanted to let you know that I was interested in conducting my Hero Work-Studies with you." I responded.

"Oh, sweet! I'll let Eraser Head know sometime tomorrow! Thanks for the heads up, kid!" She responded.

She hung up and I looked at the earring on my desk.

"As long as I can still breathe, I'll keep going, I promise." I muttered.

I'm not letting anyone else get hurt ever again! I was going to go to bed until I heard a light knock on my door. I opened it and there stood Momo. We looked at each other for a bit before I let her inside my room. I sat down on my bed and she sat down next to me.

"So... How are you feeling?" Momo asked.

I clasped my hands together in front of me, "I... I don't know. None of this really feels real, you know?"

We sat there in silence for a bit, until I eventually broke it.

"How can I even protect you guys if I couldn't protect my Father?" I continued.

I felt my tears start to build up, Momo put her hand on my back

"Alyx, it's not your fault. None of us could've known that this would've happened." Momo reassured as she wrapped her arm around me.

"I know, but it just feels like I fucked up, like I could've been there. What else am I gonna fuck up next, Momo?" I wondered.

Momo didn't say a word. She looked down at the ground and stared at my floor.

"Can I be honest with you? I know it might not be the right time but..." Momo's voice trailed off.

"But what? What is it?" I questioned.

"I... Well... You shouldn't feel as if it's your fault. You never could've predicted that any of this would've happened, don't beat yourself up over this, okay? They'll find out whoever did this, that I'm certain of. I understand that you are not feeling 100%, that's perfectly fine, but you shouldn't put the blame on yourself." She spoke softly.

I sat there in silence, I guess I really shouldn't blame myself, but a part of me was still feeling as if it was my fault. I gave Momo a hug as I wiped the tears that were around my eyes.

"Okay, I won't. Thank you." I told her.

"Anytime, Alyx." She replied.

[Three Hours Later...]

I couldn't sleep at all, I was just sitting there, facing my wall as I had my eyes closed. Suddenly, I heard my door creak open, it kind of made my heart sink out of fear for a second! Whoever it was crept inside and slowly climbed into my bed next to me. I felt them place their hand on my back as they rested their head on my pillow. They scooted closer to me and wrapped their arms around my waist. I was tempted to look but I didn't want to make things awkward with whoever it was. It honestly felt rather relaxing now that they were in here. I put my hand on their's and they intertwined their fingers with mine.
