5 What a Fantastic Start?(Worm/Fantastic 4 OC)

It was a cloudy, rainy day that mirrored the feelings that mirrored my mood as I sat inside the police PRT branch HQ. My clothes were soaking with both water and blood and the towel one of the PRT agents put around my back failed to provide me with any sort of warmth. I could only keep staring at my hand which just a few hours ago had been grasping that of my father, trying stop him from leaving after my mother who was standing right outside of her suburban home. Or more accurately, the abomination that was wearing her face. Yet he didn't listen, too griefstricken and in denial to listen to anything I said as he brushed off my arm and ran after 'it'.

I still remember it clear as day as he embraced it just as he had embraced my mother before she had been turned into 'that'. He didn't let go even after the creatures maw contorted, revealing the biotinkered creature that was wearing my mother's visage and the rows upon rows of gnarly, pointed teeth inside its maw. My father didn't seem to resist as it bit into his throat and sapped his life away in an instance but tearing an chunk of it, as if he had accepted his death and wasn't willing to live in a world without my mother.

I felt something in me break as I saw my last living parent die and the next thing I knew, the world turned white and I was standing in space overlooking Earth. I looked around and found myself in midst of the stars until I saw a large creature approach Earth before it shattered into countless pieces scattering itself all across the planet. A while later, I saw another huge creature approach from the furthest reaches of the cosmos. This one was Ethereal and humainoid in shape. It looked at Earth before looking straight at me. It eyes seemed to bore into my soul and I felt like a dam had broken inside my psyche as I was filled with unfamiliar memories.

It was about a sickly little girl who was confined to a hospital bed who liked comic books anime and superhero movies. Mostly because she hoped to recover from her illnesses by a stroke of fate or luck like many characters do in such media's. And perhaps get a super power or two as a bonus. Among them was a webnovel called Worm. It was the first part of the Parahumans series but the girl barely read half of the first one as the premise was too grimdark for her tastes. She had enough of that from her real life. But what made it so important was the fact the plot takes place in the same Earth I was currently living in. Eventually, the girls memories ended and mine began which left no questions about the origin of these memories. These were the memories of my former life.

Right after these memories ended, other knowledges began entering my mind. It was about several assortment of powers. More specifically powers belonging to the OG roster of the Fantastic 4. Its presence confused me yet the transfer of data ended just as suddenly as it began as the world turned white once more and I ended up back where I was, staring at the my father's cold corpse and the creature responsible for his demise. The creature let go of my father before its eyes fell on me. It then charged right at me.

In a panic, I lifted up my hand and felt a chill flow through it as I averted my eyes, waiting for creature to put me out of my misery. Instead, I head a loud thump, causing me to open my eyes and to my shock, I saw a translucent barrier between me and the creature about a meter in diameter.

Suddenly, my vision made sense. The humanoid entity had imparted the powers of the Fantastic 4 similar to how Entities like Scion and Eden created more parahumans.

I kept the barrier up and tried to call on the powers of the Human Torch, hoping that I won't have to dismiss the barrier to tap into the power of another F4 member. And while I was doing that, the creature attempted to walk around barrier to get to me but I managed to shift the barrier at every direction it attempted to walk.

After a while, I felt a heat radiate from my free arm before it burst into flames yet it didn't seem to harm my body. My clothes on the otherhand werent so lucky as my sleeve was burnt to dust within seconds. I wasted no time as I suddenly set the barrier aside and shot a stream of fiery plasma at from my flaming arm.

The creature on the other hand, was began shrieking before it tried to lunge at me only for me to block him with the barrier once more before making some distance and repeat the procedure. Around the third time, the creature crumpled onto the ground too burnt to be capable of doing anything.

Its looked up to mine and for a moment, I saw my mother staring back as the tears began welling up in her eyes. She looked like a weight had been lifted off her shoulder before her body became lifeless and hit the floor. My gaze alternated between her and the corpse of my father before my legs gave away and I fell on my knees sobbing.

A sudden alarm snapped me out of my daydream as several people in lab coats and PRT agents emerged from the elevator. One of them briskly walked towards me and I looked at him coldly. As my mother had fallen victim to Bonesaw, who turned her into a biotinkered monstrosity, they were going to burn both her and my father's bodies as Bonesaw had been known to infect her creatures with slow acting pathogens which could remain dormant for months before starting an epidemic. Once they were done, there wouldn't even be a speck of their ashes remaining. They were right to be cautious but that didn't mean I liked it. I wanted to bury them next to families yet I couldn't even do that.

It didn't help that as I delved more into the memories of my former life and the plot of Worm and it revealed that the Triumvirate, the strongest parahumans in the Western hemisphere and the face of Protectorate were simply leaving the Slaughterhouse 9 be. As they hoped that the chaos they caused would eventually create more powerful parahumans that would become an asset to their cause. In short, they were as equally complicit in the deaths of my family and every single person the S9 had killed as the group of murder hobos themselves. So suffice to say that I didn't hold the PRT and the Protectorate at a good light at the moment.

"Exuse me, Ms Storm. I'm sure this is currently a 'difficult' time for you but we wanted to double check the events as much as you can recall them." The man said. His tone sounded like he was anything but sorry for bothering me. Like he'd rather spend his time elsewhere.

I gave an exasperated sigh as I recounted a slightly doctored version of what happened at that town. I recounted the events as it had happened until I got to the point where I triggered. I told them that I had run away after my father was killed and that I then encountered Burnscar who had gotten berserk and was spewing flames everywhere resulting in my burnt clothes. It was a flimsy excuse but one they couldn't really disprove. Especially since Burnscar had indeed gone on a rampage and burnt down roughly 40% of the town icluding my family home. It also helped that I was asked to take an MRI and it showed that I didn't have a Gemma which probably exempted me from any suspicions regarding me being a Parahuman.

After the man in the lab coat took my statements he nodded before suddenly touching his ear piece. He then turned to me and said.

"Ms Storm, your ride to the airport has arrived."

I quickly got up and gave the man a nod before walking out of the PRT building. I saw a familiar limosine waiting outside and quickly hopped in. A pair of arms immediately embraced me and I found myself facing Bernard Fox. The Founder and Ceo of Fox Technologies, my father's business associate and best friend and my godfather. I returned his hug before he began to speak.

"I came here as soon as I heard, Maddy. I'm so, sorry." he said with a broken voice. I didn't answer and instead chose to keep on hugging my godfather, hoping to find some respite from the events of today.

I stayed silent as we went to the airport and took a private jet back to New York. Back to home. And somewhere along the way, I finally managed to let sleep overtake me.

An: As you might have guessed, MC has the powers and knowledges of the 4 OG members of the Fantastic Four. The reason why I didn't include the later characters should be obvious.
