Gangolf, the punching bag of his mountain top village, falls to his apparent death while fleeing the Wier who attack his home. He awakens on the banks of the Serpe, seemingly unharmed but changed forever. Stumbling in to the city of Bayn, Gangolf becomes embroiled in a web of political manuevering, gruesome murders and mysterious families. The village boy becomes the kingmaker of Haml, all while discovering his new identiy and the dangers that accompany it.
