Speakers: [Ayanokouji-kun from first-year Class D. Please come see Chiyabashira-sensei in the faculty office.]

Aomine: "Looks like the teacher wants to see you too."

Ayanokouji: "Yeah... Sorry Aomine, gotta go."

When Ayanokouji went away, Aomine was left on his own. Horikita left earlier than Ayanokouji did, so he was by himself.

His popularity is going down as we speak.

You had to be able to talk to people to be popular, and Aomine doesn't really talk much. It didn't matter how good you were at school, sports, or good looking—if you couldn't make others want to follow you, you'd never have a lot of influence.

That was why Hirata and Kushida were way more popular than him. But it doesn't change the fact that he was a celebrity in Japan, so his social standing would still be above an ordinary student.

The factors that made him a loner is, he was introverted in middle school and an Otaku. Plus he was mentally more mature than this kids who were only 15-16 year olds, compared to him with 1000+ memories.

Kushida: "Things must be really tough for the people who used up their points."

When he was in daze, Kushida suddenly cam to him talked.

Aomine: "Well yeah. What about you, Kushida-san? Girls had lots of necessities right?"

Kushida: "I'm okay. For now, anyway. I've used up about half of my points. I kind of lost control the first month and overspent, so it'll be a little difficult to hold myself back. What about you, Aomine-kun? Are you okay?"

Aomine: "It's got to be hard not to spend money when you're so popular. I've barely used any of my points, to be honest. I haven't really needed to buy anything."

Kushida: "Because you don't have friends?"

Aomine: "Oi... Are you making fun of me?"

Kushida: "Ah, sorry, sorry. I didn't mean to offend you."

Kushida apologized and giggled, she looked very cute when she did that. Aomine's mean looking eyes would've frightened an average girl, but not her.

Aomine: "Anyway I'm out of here. Later then Kushida-san. I still have club activities."

Kushida: "Yes, good luck in your practice!"

She gave a bright smile waving her hands goodbye.

Let's veer away from our main character for a little bit and let's change scenes.

I'm the Guidance room Horikita entered, Chiyabashira is waiting there as if she knew that she will.

Chiyabashira: "Ah, come in. So, what did you want to talk to me about, Horikita?"

Horikita: "I will be frank. Why was I sorted into Class D?"

Chiyabashira: "That's quite frank."

Horikita: "Today, you told us that the school sorted superior students into Class A. You said that Class D was filled with the leftovers, the last bastion of delinquents."

Chiyabashira: "That's true. You must consider yourself to be a superior person."

Horikita: "I solved nearly every problem on the entrance examination. I made no substantial mistakes on the interview, either. At the very least, I shouldn't have been sorted into Class D."

Horikita was definitely the type to think herself superior. She wasn't excessively self-conscious, either. She'd tied for first place on the test, as shown in the morning's results along with Yukimura and Kouenji. Meaning she solved one of those three super difficult questions.

Chiyabashira: "You solved nearly all of the problems on the entrance examination, hmm? Normally I couldn't show the examination results to individual students, but I'll make an exception in this case. I just so happen to have your answer sheet here."

Horikita: "You're incredibly prepared. It's... almost as if you knew I'd come here to protest."

As expected she did knew.

Chiyabashira: "I'm an instructor. I understand the mind of a student, at least to some degree, Horikita Suzune. Just as you said, you did well on the entrance examination. You had the third-highest test score among the first-year students and were close to the highest- and second-highest-scoring students. You did exceedingly well. And you're right: We found no particular problems in your interview. On the contrary, we evaluated you quite highly."

Horikita: "Thank you very much. So then... why?"

Chiyabashira: "Before I answer, why are you dissatisfied with Class D?"

Horikita: "Who could be happy with an incorrect evaluation? Furthermore, the class rankings greatly impact our future prospects. Of course I'm dissatisfied."

Chiyabashira: "Incorrect evaluation? Perhaps your self-evaluation is far too high."

Chiyabashira snickered, or rather, laughed outright.

Chiyabashira: "I acknowledge that your academic ability is excellent. You're certainly very smart. However, who decided that smart people are categorically superior? We never said that."

Horikita: "But... that's just common sense."

Chiyabashira: "Common sense? Didn't common sense create our current, flawed society? Before, Japan relied solely on test scores to separate the superior and inferior. As a result, the incompetents at the top tried desperately to kick down the truly superior students. In the end, we settled on a system of hereditary succession."

A system of hereditary succession meant that things like social standing, prestige, and employment were passed down to future generations.

Chiyabashira: "You're a capable student. I don't deny that. However, this school's goal is to produce superior people. If you believe academics alone place you into a higher class, you are mistaken. That was the very first thing we explained to you. Besides, think rationally. Would we have admitted someone like Aomine if we decided superiority based solely on academic merit?"

Horikita: "Tsk..."

Chiyabashira: "Besides that guy did not only score 0 in the pop up quiz, he also scored 0 in his entrance examination. He couldn't even write his own name properly in Kanji. Though his academic abilities are barely passable, he still had problems of a kindergarten. Surprised?"

Horikita: "I have never known such a person could graduate elementary."

If words could kill, Aomine would already be killed stabbed to the heart a thousand times. But those words are only aimed to the Aomine before he got two memories.

Though it still depends on his efforts to study. He was an idiot before, and the memories he got had a completely different world building than his previous world.

Chiyabashira: "Furthermore, you may be too hasty in proclaiming that no one would be happy to be incorrectly evaluated. Take Class A, for instance. They are under incredible pressure from the school, and also the target of extreme envy from the lower classes. Competing every day with that kind of pressure bearing down upon you is far more difficult than you might imagine. There are some students who are happy to be incorrectly evaluated at a lower level."

Horikita: "You're joking, right? I can't understand such a person."

Chiyabashira: "Is that so? I think that Class D boasts some of those people. Strange students who would happily be set at a low level."

Horikita: "You still haven't given me an explanation. Was I honestly sorted into Class D? Did anything go wrong with the grading? Please double-check."

Chiyabashira: "I'm sorry, but you weren't sorted by mistake. You are definitely in Class D. You are at that level."

Horikita: "Is that so? Then I will ask the school again, at another time."

Apparently, she wasn't going to give up. Horikita had merely determined that her homeroom teacher was the wrong person to ask.

Chiyabashira: "You'll get the same answer from anyone in a higher position. Besides, there's no need to be disappointed. As I told you this morning, it's possible for one class to overtake another. You could conceivably reach Class A before you graduate."

Horikita: "I can't imagine it will be easy, though. Forget overtaking Class A; how in the world could those immature Class D misfits gain more points? I can't see how it's possible."

Chiyabashira: "I don't know. You alone get to decide how you head down that path. At any rate, Horikita, do you need to be in Class A for any special reason?"

Chiyabashira: "Well... I suppose that's enough for now. Excuse me. But know that I'm not yet convinced I was sorted correctly."

Horikita: "Understood. I will keep that in mind."

A chair squeaked against the floor, signaling that the discussion was over.

Chiyabashira: "Oh, that reminds me. I've summoned another person to the guidance room. It's someone relevant to you."

Horikita: "Relevant to me? No, you can't mean, niisa—"

Chiyabashira: "Come on out, Ayanokouji."

Without any choice he came out.

Chiyabashira began to tell Horikita how he deliberately score 50 points in all subjects. Its as if he manipulated his scores.

Horikita and Chiyabashira started prodding him for answers, but Ayanokouji feigned ignorance.

Ayanokouji;?: "I don't know what normal is. It was a coincidence, I tell you. A coincidence."

Both of them doesn't believe it, after a few going back and forth they finally ended.

Chiyabashira: "I'm leaving, too. It's almost time for the faculty meeting. I'm going to close the door, so please step outside."

Soon both of them left.

Aomine: "Well that was quite interesting. Ayanokouji huh. That guy really is a protagonist material huh..."

Aomine was on top of a tree using Internal Energy to enhance his hearing senses, eavesdropping on their conversation. He also made sure to hide his presence to avoid detection.

It works very weak, but it should be enough for humans who doesn't know how to use Internal Energy.

Aomine: "Haa... Maybe I should start practicing writing my name in Kanji. But studying is a pain in the ass..."

Although he gained valuable information, it came with a great cost of hearing hurtful words.

He was never good with academics to begin with. Even with [Thought Acceleration] and [Memory Search], he doubt he could significantly improve in a quasi-superhuman state.

Though his brain might work like Google using Memory Search, it doesn't mean the article he needed wouldn't fade away. It's like having an old PC in the 90's as his brain.

The software is very advanced, but the hardware is very outdated making the performance mediocre.

Or more like...

[Academics = Brain × Internal Energy

Brain: 0.5

Internal Energy(Thought Acceleration & Memory Search): 10

Academics = 0.5×10=5]

No matter how high 10× multiplier using Internal Energy is, if the base number is low the effects are minimal.

At the very least, his learning rate is still above average. As long as he study, getting a high score should be easy(With the help of Internal Energy ofc).

Aomine: "Down we go."

Aomine jumped down from the tree straight down to the ground.

After that he went to club practice.
