1 The Girl With A Broken Wing

"You can't just say that to me!" you said this to me but I can't help being apathetic sometimes when you said the words you keep repeating like a chant.

I know Amara, I know how much you are hurting. I've been there with you when your wings were torn, when you fell down from the sky and I was not able to keep you afloat. My apologies for that, by the way.

"So would you want me to say 'Okay Amara, everything will be alright, you'll soon rise and have your wings back then we can take the world in our hands'" I said, irritated, "Is that what you want to hear?"

You are silent. You look up into the sky and back at my face.

"You have always been cold, Rana, don't you have any cell in your body that may empathize with how each part of me feels?"

"I do" I countered "Tell me, why am I still here with you if I don't empathize and try to help you?"

"You're not helping!!!" the tears betrayed you again and you started to get up from the ground.

I held my hand towards you for support since you always have weak knees. But then you did not hold my hand. So as I watch you having difficulty standing, I can't help but wonder if your words are true or if my words are lies I say to cover my fears.

Standing now with your back to me, I can feel the fresh tears welling up in your eyes. You wanted to tell me something but decided not to. You turned around and look me in the eyes as you said "Rana, don't be caged up like me."

"I'm free" I said, sarcasm in my voice, "What are you talking about?"

"A wing is something I see in you but only one, you've already torn the other, intentionally" you said "I never want mine to be torn apart and cut but the world is cruel and I get it" you continued, still the tears just kept on streaming out from those hazel eyes, "See the positive in everything, and yes, if possible, you should have said those to me, to give me hope, even just a tiny bit."

"Amara, you've said it yourself" I started "The world is cruel, I do see the positive in everything but I also see the other side, I cannot live in the side you want to and hope is something that always hurt when things don't come around."

The sun is setting now and I am supposed to be home by then yet I'm still here having some conversation that wants me to say more than what I want to.

"Tell me Amara, would you want my wing if I offer it to you?"

She stared into my dark eyes, black as the coming night, and smiled, a genuine smile that I can feel.

"You with a broken wing and an intact one" you said "I can't fly with only one wing."

You turned you back on me and started to walk. The wind blew and I watch you disappear within the dankness. The night engulf the whole of you and time moved fast. I ran down the hill and remembered you.

Amara, my ever sweet star that have fallen from the stage of fame and power. Stripped by the people you cared for, betrayed and destroyed. I want them to suffer but the world is cruel and I'm by myself. What can I ever possibly do that can make them torment?

I have been really metaphorically speaking, haven't I?
